Fernando Crôtte liked an update for A Light in the Void

Many of you follow me on Facebook, so some of this news won’t be quite as fresh for you as it will be for others.  Keep reading anyway - there’s some good exclusive stuff coming up towards the end.

First: we made Quill.  We sold 250+ books.  We will be published.  Thank you.  Thank you for having faith in my writing, for promoting my book to your friends, for believing that I will actually produce something worth supporting.  Thank you.  I won’t let you down.

We do have a month longer for preorders.  I’m mostly focusing on writing and editing this month - more on that in a second - but if we somehow get a lot of folks attentions, I may dedicate some time to pushing for 750 preorders and full publishing support from Inkshares.  That’s a big lift, however, and therefore a big if.   I’ll update you guys if anything changes.

In the meantime, I will continue updating you guys on this page with fresh excerpts every few weeks while I work towards completing a manuscript worth sending to my editor.  I’m hoping to get most of that work done this month.  Sometimes I may throw some other content as well.

As a thank you, I put up a new excerpt  It’s a little different from the other excerpts: a poem I wrote today that has a good chance of making it into the novel.  It may help elucidate some of the larger themes of the book.  My strengths lie more in stories than they do in poetry, so any feedback is definitely appreciated.  You all are a part of this novel, and I take your opinions very seriously.

Thanks guys.  You’re really the best.

Warmly,

Jarrod

8th place! I’m absolutely chuffed with that, dear readers.

To have placed in the top 10 of a contest full of wonderful stories and equally wonderful authors is a real honour.

Though Witherfist didn’t place high enough to win the contest, the book’s funding campaign continues. The funding period for Witherfist ends on December 31st, so I will be doing everything I can until that date to ensure that the book reaches at least 250 preorders. I would love to hit the full publication threshold of 750 preorders, but to reach that level, I’d need a lot of help from all of you fantastic people who make Inkshares such an incredible, supportive community.

I hope to have a book trailer video to share with you soon, but in the meanwhile - please continue to share Witherfist with anyone that you think might be interested in preordering.

    ~ Jenny

PS. There’s one other contest I haven’t fogotten about! I’ve contacted the two winners of the Amazon voucher giveaway and am just waiting on confirmation of their details, to send out the vouchers.

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for Human Resources

      Good evening from Tasmania!

Tonight marks the end of day fourteen in The Launchpad Manuscript Competition (crowdfunding stream) and the funding campaign for Human Resources. As I’ve mentioned before, this is a short competition compared to others Inkshares runs, so there is now only seven days left!

Thank you everyone who has pre-ordered, written a review or recommendation, or shared the project on social media. Your support has been amazing — as a direct result, Human Resources is doing well in a competition packed with talent.

We have now entered the stage where most campaigns settle in for the long haul — a regular crowdfunding campaign on Inkshares is three months. However, with such a short competition window, we will be sprinting all the way to the finish. Keep up the great work — I still need your help!

For those of you who haven’t pre-ordered yet, but are considering it, I’d love the opportunity to convince you before the end of the competition. There are eight excerpts on the project page for you to read, and I’m happy to chat online!

This week, I wanted to reward you all for the hard work and support you have provided me. I’ve been scouring the available research, and can now pull back a little of the curtain shrouding the world of Human Resources. Below is your explainer on the vampires of HR.

      Have a great night,

      Robert

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for Twisted Tales for Tacky Children
        Hi Y’all,

I hope all of you tacky people had a happy Halloween.  I had a blast last night, handing out candy with our neighbors, and watching Millie and Sean trick-or-treat:

In honor of our wonderful street and in celebration of over 190 copies sold- I decided to post a new poem tonight.  It’s called "The Louse of King Street" and it has one of my favorite illustrations in the book.

If you have a friend who has ever battled an outbreak of head-lice at their kid’s school, be sure to send this on to them, perhaps with a thoughtful note saying "When I see something about head-lice, I always think of your kids!" They will love that.

Joking aside, if you have friends who would see the humor in this-- forward it to them and
invite them to join us, as we all work together to publish this delightful, tacky, (and sometimes itchy!) book.

A Big Thank You Is In Order

Firstly to God, because I need to give credit where credit is due. Without Him, I wouldn’t be here today. There is no way I would’ve managed to gather so many readers from different countries on my own. There is no way I could’ve convinced Malaysians to pre-order a ’pricey’ book. How I made it this far, is not by my own works, but by God’s grace and His open doors. So I will not shy back or be afraid to declare that He is a big player in this campaign. And for His constant faithfulness, I am extremely and forever grateful.

Secondly to mum and dad. They were the second biggest players in this campaign. They reached out to their friends and rallied extended support. They shamelessly plugged my book, and shamelessly appealed for orders. A huge part of the success in this campaign is because of them. There are some things only parents can do, and giving their undying support is one of them. I am blessed to call them mum and dad. Thank you, mi & dy! Saranghaeyo!

Thirdly to family and friends. Your generosity made my dream come true! Your sponsorship of your own creative creations, and your outreach to friends and significant others, brought the book across the finish line. And despite some of my updates being Malaysia focused, I am very grateful no matter where you come from; Malaysia, USA, Canada, Singapore, Australia, Kenya, Brunei, Philippines, Uganda, Iran, Belgium, South Korea, UK, Sweden, Mexico, Portugal (I might’ve missed a few countries, and if I did yours, please forgive me). Listing these countries down, it looks like this campaign was a global collaboration! Thank you for lending a hand from across the waters.

And last but not least, to all those who I have no idea where you came from. Where did you come from? It’s hard to wrap my mind around your willingness to invest in me and The Slave Prince... when we’ve not even met! Your presence made a difference in this journey. And whoever you are, whatever your reason was, I’m happy you came onboard. Please remain seated, as the adventure has just begun.

The past 3 months have been an amazing journey, but it is only the start. I’m hoping for an awesome experience ahead, and I cannot wait to share every moment with you. Thank you for being my comrade, you wonderful, lovely, amazing person! I’ll never forget winning this race because of your immense support.

(*Relent’s ’Good Vibrations’ single will be emailed to every reader in the next few days. Be sure to check your email for instructions on how to download the song! Some of you might have even received it already.)

              Good afternoon, Sailors!

Well... we did it! It feels surreal right now, but it’s official! Storm Song is listed as the #2 finish of the Geek & Sundry fantasy contest.y The last 3 ’months have been incredibly intense and stressful, but so so so worth it.

I’ll be keeping you guys updated on what’s what as this progresses.

Thank you again. I’ll update again when I can be more coherent and not just a bundle of overwhelming emotions

              Until then!

                  We made it!!

(literally me at the end of the contest)

Bad Medicine: Slay it, Queen! Finished in the top 3 of the Crypt TV contest, and now it is on its way to becoming my second published novel. Just writing those words gives me chills.

Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

I don’t take your support for granted. I know that there are many ways in which you could spend your money; the fact that you chose to support my dreams is reassuring and humbling.

                  What’s next?

Well, three chapters and a detailed outlined of Bad Medicine are already done, so today I started participating in National Novel Writing Month (Nanowrimo) with the hopes of finishing the first draft in 30 days. It sounds crazy, but I’m confident it will be done. Also, I love a challenge, and this is certainly one.

This morning I wrote the first six hundred words. My editor Penny Lane was there to support me. Too bad she’s not really a morning person (yes, she is a person).

Again, thank you, my friends. I will keep updating you through the production of this crazy and fun book.

                  Best
