Hello avid followers of The Remains of Civilization!

I know I should've put out an update by now, and believe me, I had been putting of making this update for a while now. Right now, I think I missed the best time to put it out.

The national novel writing month is here, and I am writing the hell out of my book. It's going to be a tough month, but I think I can brave through it. It's going to take all 100% of me to finish writing this book, so I can't afford to promote my book anymore; writing comes first. So I am going to need followers of this book to shell out a few dollars to keep this book afloat and ready to be published.

The other reason for why I haven't been chucking out any new updates in a while is because I thought this book it's going to die (figuratively, of course), it's been weeks since the last time someone has backed this book. I am really nervous about not reaching even the light funding goal. I do need every single one of you to chip in and help. It's not going to be the last time I am going come out of my cave to beg, but I would rather write an eulogy for this book and bury it in my backyard than stop writing and just...move on. Writing is something I liked to do, and I truly believes in my stories 110% . So I wanted this book to hit the bookshelves with all it's glorious ink-filled pages.

If you truly liked this book and wants to see this in print, just press the buy button. It's the best way to support this book, but refer it to your friend is also an awesome way to help. $20.00 is a lot to commit to some stranger on the Internet and probably aren't a worthy investment, but give me a chance and I might actually churn out something enjoyable to you dear followers that are reading this.

Help me bring the characters into a spellbinding volume of action, adventure, some immaturity, humor, and vague science fiction that you see on the bookshelves. Heck, maybe ten years later, you might feel proud of yourselves that you're indirectly responsible for this book's creation and the beginning of my writing career whatever the case, enjoy yourselves and this might be the last time you will hear from me for this month.

Farewell,
Yicheng Liu.

Hi everyone!

Sorry for intruding into your inbox again. I apologise if it's a weird to receive this email update, but I had wanted to craft this update for a while. I had just finished writing 3,000-ish words for my book that I haven't yet proofread. So I wanted to tell you guys that I'll be going overseas to china for a while. The rest about China and their censorship rules blocking Google Docs and my email is completely self-explanatory.

Which me saying a heads up that I won't be able to be active on the inter web for awhile. So don't expect me to blurt anything on the inter web during September and October.

But since I love my fans and I genuinely wanted to create content for you guys to enjoy, I won't blast link about other writers being really, really huggable people and promote my works whenever they get the chance(seriously, writers are awesome. I owe Rick a virtual taco for being awesome. I owe everyone else like J.F, Jamison, and John a cat video just for being THAT supportive ). So check my twitter, there's the links right there.

But what I really wanted to talk about is content. I know you guys wouldn't be satisfied with 2 chapters of my book and a cliched synopsis. So I had created 3d version of Albest(the narrator's friend. You would probably remember him) using hero forge. You should be able to see that. It's how he would've looked. While being short, he overcompensated in EVERY other aspect by being a bundle of energy and having a gun. Which is what he actually had in the book. I originally wanted to give him a baseball bat, but something tells me that would be a bit over the line.

So what do you think? I think it looks pretty frigging amazing. The handlebar moustache is something that disappeared halfway though the book, I would now leave the readers(You) in suspense over what happened to it and whether it became sentient and started a relationship with Donald Trump's toupee(we know it would've escaped from his head SOMEDAY). It's a matter of pitifully little importance, so therefore it's a subject of suspense.

Also, YouTube. I had realised how much people like my content. So I wanted give you a little more, so far I had been editing and recording(Yes, in that order) chapter one. I had originally wanted Paul Inman to do it(He wrote this book). But I don't wanted to trouble him and instead wanted to do it myself. So an audio reading is in the works.

Due to unforeseen circumstances(i.e. I don't have a sexy voice that pronounces everything like Siri), I ended up with several different outtakes of my recordings where I messed up big time over everything. So I had decided to make a bloopers, and behind-the-scene stuff compiled video.

So yeah, that's all...for now. Hasta la vista, baby.

Hey everyone,

Inkshares and I had came to an agreement to reset the whole preorders thing because I had joined the nerdist contest with a lot of preorders. That is kind of unfair to other writers' and generally considered a bad thing to do.

So Inkshares had reseted my preorders, so it would be really cool if you guys can preorder my book again. Thanks.

Hey everyone,

Before I go into anything crazy, I'll show you guys something. Here:

Got it? This book is now part of the Nerdist Collection Contest! So in case you, my dear readers, had ordered my book and immediately unsubscribed from inkshares' updates, the contest is a possible way out of the crowdfunding nightmare and get this book out of ignorance and into mainstream bookstores. Hopefully also the mainstream readers' wallets, because I need to have lunch too. Even if I'm a writer.

So yeah, I guess that's pretty much it...haha, no. I NEVER let anyone down, it's my personal motto. Here is what I had been doing when not writing:

Yep. That's a 3D mockup of what my book will look like once it's published and are able to be held by the average readers' hands. Assuming the average reader have another hand holding a fistful of money and throwing it at the bookstores. That is the only other acceptable situation where you are allowed to not hold my book with both of your hands.

Hey everyone,

Something exciting happened today! I had finally sort-of got some media attention. Yay! Hopefully this will help me reach my goal. http://www.newswire.com/press-release/this-melbourne-based-crowdfunded-science-fiction-thriller-is

Hi enthusiastic fans and supporters,

I have posted chapter two and it is now online! The link is here.

Also, blogs everywhere are picking up! Okay, maybe not every blog, but John Robin blogged about it(kind of, he made a passing mention), Mr Hart's also blogged a bit about my book. So I would be lying if I'm saying that my book is languishing in ignorance, ut admittedly it could've gone better. Though I would say so far so good.

As of now, it is more or less 3% funded. Woot! You guys are showing overwhelming support and enthusiasm here. With just a bit more preorders, maybe things will finally take off and hit it big time. Then I can afford lunch. Because writer spend too much money on coffee, not that much on lunch.

For those followers and casual readers who have not yet purchased their copies, I warmly recommend you to do so. Every order helps, every order is going to be needed for me to be able to buy KFC's family bucket. The link to preorder is here.

In the meantime, for those who enjoy epic fantasy instead of sci-fi, I strongly recommend you check out blood dawn.(https://www.inkshares.com/projects/blood-dawn).  John had been very helpful and supportive so far, so I wanted to help him as much as possible. It's awesome.

So until the I got 1,000 preorders, please keep spreading the word about the science fiction comedy known as The Remains Of Civilization, and do not forget to pre-order your very own copies. That would help. A lot.

Sincerely,

Yicheng Liu

Hi everyone! I am elated to announce that my book trailer is now officially online! Hurray!

Anyway, it is embedded on to the project webpage, but you can view on YouTube too: https://youtu.be/FYhfuKvj-hs

If you want to help, please spread the word; tweet about it, that kind of thing. Since that's how funding works, so that's how I'm gonna roll.

Toddles,
Yicheng Liu

Hi everyone,

This isn't going to be a monthly update. Since not a lot had happened. 13 copies of the book had been preordered. Thanks to all the people that preordered the book. I strongly encourage everyone else to promote the book if you think it's interesting enough to be worthy of your time. Not a lot had actually happened, and of course, with the speed I am gaining buyers...I will have to find another route to publish my book. Thanks for sticking around.

Hi all, I would like thank you all for been a supportive bunch, two people had already pre-ordered my book. I hope this can motivate new people to either pre-order or promote this book so it can become a reality instead of just being a pipe dream, collecting dust. I apologize for updating too frequently. Thanks.

Hey! Thank you for the support. Things have been progressing well... Chapter 1's preview had came out. Please tell others about this project if you feel like it. Again, thanks.
