Chapter 4. Cory Potts sit in her hospital bed for most of the day flipping through a number of news networks watching the news trying to find out more about what happened in Harlem, New York. She would hate to admit to anyone but she feared that if she took a nap or fell asleep she feared that she might not wake back up again. Three years is a very long time to just sleep her life away. Cory fell into her coma toward the end of 2016 after suffering a major blood loss with no idea how she got here and now it was October of 2019 and the world around her had changed. The country was now being run by a former reality TV star that was famous for telling people that they were fired. Something on a apocalyptic level was going on and most of the news outlets couldn’t put there Politico biased for the guy that’s running the country long enough to report about it. Cory turned off the Television in frustration because anyone that reported to the news about seeing demons or dark shadow figures was wrote off as being a flake that was trying to manufacturing a crisis no matter how many dead bodies seem to pop up along the way. Cory forces herself to get out of bed to go to the bathroom. After she was done with the restroom her curiosity got the best of her and she opens the door next to the room’s bathroom to find a closet. Inside the closet Cory found a black t-shirt with the AC/DC band logo on the front and a pair of blue jean pants. Both items of clothing looked to be her size and they were new because they still had the price tags still on them. “don’t mind if I do” said Cory as she slowly got dressed into the new change of clothing and she suddenly felted thankful to be dressed in something other than a hospital gown. Cory then saw a brand new pair of tennis shoes in the bottom of the closet and they also looked to be her size to just like the shirt and pants. She immediately slipped one of the shoes on her feet and she noticed something inside the other shoe when she started to put it on. Cory stuck her hand inside the shoe and pulled out a switchblade knife. She had a fondness for switchblade knifes that she thought no one else knew about. She losses her last switchblade knife during a fight with a psychopath on an old New Jersey Bridge. Cory studied the switchblade knife very carefully. She notice the handle of this knife was designed in a combination of black pearls and white ivory. Cory pushed the button that release the blade to find herself astonished by the expensive knife’s beauty as the blade was silver plated. Cory quickly closes the knife’s blade and put’s the knife away in her pocket quickly as someone charges through her hospital room’s door. It turned out to be the old creepy male hospital nurse that she woke up to when she came out of her coma. Cory believed that the other nurses called him Mark. Mark Davis very quickly locked the thick wooden hospital room door behind him and braced his back against the door as he tried to catch his breath. Cory at that moment figured out that Mark the creepy elderly nurse was obviously running from something. “what’s wrong” ask Cory when suddenly something hit the thick wooden hospital door from the other side with enough force to rattle it on the door frame. The old male nurse let out a loud scream of fear. Cory immediately got out of the chair and placed herself between the damaged door and the screaming elderly male nurse. “this could be fun” said Cory sarcastically to herself as she pushes Mark the elderly male nurse toward the back of the room by the window without taking her attention off the door. The door was struck once more and this time the force of the blows seem to made several long crack in the thick wooden and the door also begin to bow in toward them. “if I was a kamikaze plot” said Cory in an attempt to retract her early statement about fun. She nervously takes a fighting stands and pull’s the switchblade knife holding it in a tight grip in her hands. Cory was ready to attack whatever comes through the battered room door. Suddenly aloud sound of breaking glass come from behind her. Cory quickly looks back in time to watch the elderly nurse Mark Davis get pulled out the room’s only window with a blinding speed almost like he was sucked out the window by a very fast unseen force. Cory quickly runs over to the window wasting no time to look out. The first thing she realizes is that her hospital room was nowhere close to be on the ground level and if she had to guess what floor she was on, it would have to be the 4th floor and there was no sign of the elderly male nurse anywhere and also no signs of whatever the thing was that had taken him anywhere. It was almost like he got dragged out of this world. Cory immediately runs back over to the room door and pauses for a long moment trying to listen for anything that might be on the other side of the door. After a long moment it seem nothing was there so she tried to open the door only to find that it was now jammed shut. Cory not wanting to spend another second in this hospital room quickly charges the battered room door as hard as she could with her shoulder with no luck. This only seem to clarify how dangerous the thing was that earlier tried to break in. Cory tried a few more times ramming the door with all her might to find out that she cant even get the door to move. Cory takes a short moment to think before she uncomfortably moves back over by the window half expecting whatever grabbed the old male nurse to leap from the darkness to take her next when suddenly she comes up with a crazy idea that she hoped would work. Cory had always been a fan of three things in her life. One was Horror movies that her ex-boyfriend Timmy Winters use to get on her case about because they were the only kind of movies that she loved to watch and she hoped that the knowledge that she gathered from scary movies will come in handy for her survival. The second was rock music, that gave her a reason to like the brand new AC/DC t-shirt even though it didn’t show off the cleavage from her boobs and last but not least was pro-wresting. Cory would always go to the fairground’s in her home town of Lynn, New York ever few months and watch when the local wrestling promotions would come to town to put on there shows. After waking up to find out that she is now 19th years old Cory wondered if she would needs a high school diploma or GED to work for a wrestling promotion. Cory runs from the hospital window charging the thick cracked hospital door, she jump into the air with a lot of momentum behind her and kicks the hospital door with both feet completely breaking the door in half with a drop kick. Sending both pieces of the broken hospital door out into the hallway along with herself. Cory quickly picks herself up off the floor and once again taking a fighting stands only to be met by silence.
