Carefully sitting down at a desk,
artfully dodging wires and the rest of the recording setup
consisting of a microphone and windscreen
barely balanced on a music stand.
A few clicks to start the assorted recording programs-
And the game itself.
Waiting with bated breath for the countdown to hit “start”.
Swiftly reciting an introduction, followed by a recap of “last time”,
Smoothly transitioning into current activity and gameplay,
Trying to keep the flow of commentary natural and engaging-
Maybe even funny?
...I’m not a comedian.
Quick glances at the timer to keep track
of the core of each episode, attempting to hold onto
tangent after tangent after interrupted thought
Without losing the audience.
Which wouldn’t even see it for at least another few days.
A mental sigh of relief as the outro ties up the loose ends,
left from reactions to the game that derailed a train of thought,
by bringing everything together with promises of “next time”.
A physical sigh of relief as all recording programs are stopped,
files saved for editing at a later time, due to exhaustion at the thought of it.
Less than a week later
The files are pieced together and edited,
Becoming one video
And spurring memories of the recording session.
Rendering the final product takes an hour-
And uploading it does too.
Once the video goes live
The anxious waiting starts,
Curious about the viewers’ reactions-
If there are any.
