Hello, Zaide!

I just wanted to mention how much I enjoyed the opening prologue for Adagio: the juxtaposition of a Byronic Predator with his cheerfully professional psychologist hints at a world with many hidden layers...a  underground community of monsters and magic and a music major whose melodies can mesmerize even a jaded immortal.

As someone from a musical family, I can’t wait to read more about Elma’s Siren-like violin melodies and how they can influence the world around her!

Hi all!

It’s been a while!  I hope everyone is having a fabulous summer.

Some big news about Overture, which I thank you again for your interest in following.  After having an epiphany during a flight to Las Vegas a couple of months ago--partially supported by half a bag of airline-issue nuts and that homesteader rescue program on HGTV--I have made some pretty large-scale changes to the book.  The most notable of these is that (without giving away the plotline), one of the main love interests of our heroine Elma has morphed from a man to a woman.  It is a single idea that has changed the trajectory of the book and the series in several ways, and that clicks to a deeper gear on many, many levels.

I’ve restructured, updated, and have just reposted here the first few chapters of what is now titled Adagio (Book One of the Muse Series.) Per Inkhares’ awesome new descriptor field, the book can be summed up as "Bridget Jones Diary meets Interview with the Vampire."  I invite you to take a bite of this newly renovated manuscript, and welcome any and all thoughts you may have.

Thanks for reading!

Zaide

Hi all--writing with a brazen follow request.  I thank you again for following Overture, the introduction to Elma’s transition from meek musician to supernatural powerhouse.  I’m about to launch pre-orders for Allegro, book two of the Overture series.  Before I do, might I ask if you’d be willing to follow it as well?  Below is a synopsis (spoiler alert) and here is the link: https://www.inkshares.com/books/allegro-book-two-of-the-overture-series-

Thanks a ton!

She’s a siren in love with a vampire but dating a veterinarian whom she just discovered is an occult scientist who talks like the Queen of England. And she’s headed out with these two characters in her dead boyfriend’s Jeep to meet up with a werewolf. Elma’s come a long way from risk-averse classical pianist at Straythern University. And the party’s just getting started.

Allegro, the second movement in the Overture series, allows us to watch as Elma comes to terms with who she is, what she must do, and the power that she wields. Dive in and join her on the journey.

Hi all!

First off, wishing everyone a very happy and safe Thanksgiving.

I wanted to let you know that I’ve just posted Allegro (Book Two of the Overture Series) as an Inkshares draft project, and I invite you to like and follow the project here.  Below is a quick synopsis (spoiler alert for those who would like to first read Overture, the Book 1 in the series):

"She’s a siren in love with a vampire but dating a veterinarian whom she just discovered is an occult scientist who talks like the Queen of England. And she’s headed out with these two characters in her dead boyfriend’s Jeep to meet up with a werewolf. Elma’s come a long way from risk-averse classical pianist at Straythern University--and the party’s just getting started.  Allegro, the second movement in the Overture series, allows us to watch as Elma comes to terms with who she is, what she must do, and the power that she wields. Dive in and join her on the journey."

Thank you again for your support with Overture.  That book is now back on Amazon with additional content and a brand-new cover  by Diana Buidoso.  It’s available here for download (free right now through Kindle Unlimited, just FYI).

I’d love to have your thoughts on both novels.  Again, have a wonderful holiday.  Thank you!

Issa

I am atwitter with excitement to be sharing the new cover of Overture!  In keeping with the crowdsourcing/crowdfunding tradition, I headed on out to designcrowd.com and ran a challenge for a new cover design.  The winner is this beautiful piece from freelance artist Diana Buidoso.  It captures the feel of the book so well, and I’m over the moon.  Thank you Diana and Designcrowd!

Hi folks!

Wanted to let you know that I’ve just posted Chapter 10 of Overture, the last in the First Movement of the novel.  As we approach the end of the Geek & Sundry Fantasy Contest, I"ll now ask that if you like what you see, please consider backing the project by pre-ordering a copy.

As always, thank you for listening, and have a great weekend.

Issa

Hello folks!

In lieu of a new chapter link this Friday, how about a blog about a book?  Have a click if you’d like to learn more about the origin of Overture: https://torridforties.com/2016/09/04/shameless-plug-372/

Have a great weekend!

Hi all,

Happy Friday!  Just a quick FYI that I’m about to send through Chapter 7 of Overture.  This is a big one, as the action here lays out a framework and relationship that will be pivotal through (at least) the end of the book.  Would love to have your thoughts on Chapter 7, all the ones before it, and all those still to come:

Thanks Readers, and enjoy the weeekend!

Join us for fun and pizza in the Urban Fantasy syndicate!

OK, maybe not pizza, as that would be a bit difficult to manage across 40 geographically dispersed readers, but fun for sure.  I recently started the Urban (and Rural) Fantasy Syndicate to support projects in this genre, and am on the lookout for some additional funsters to join the group.  Thus far it’s Steven Barrie (of Squeaky Clean fame) and me.  We can chat over projects together and have a blast, but would love to have some additional drinking buddies as well.  And at the end of the day, the focus of the syndicate is to back our fellow writers and support them on their publishing quest, which is a noble cause, indeed.  The more members we have, the more backing we can all give.

Come on into the clubhouse!  https://www.inkshares.com/syndicates/the-urban-or-rural-fantasy-syndicate

Exciting news!  I’m thrilled to report that the Snarky Darksy syndicate has selected Overture as its backed project for September.  Many thanks to C. Brennecke and the entire syndicate membership for their support.

And now, I invite you all to come on over and bite into some snark for yourself!

Thanks!

Issa
