Chapter 3; Hero Try Outs Day 2 The Test Of The Brave

The next morning, Sam who was used to being woke up by his mum just as she was leaving for her first job, but this morning was difference he looked up seeing a room he had never seen before as he started to panini, Gilbert knocked on the dooring hearing deep breathing comes in and asks "is everything ok Sam" Sam who was breathing deeply with a tear in his eye [in a wobbly voice] said "NO I don’t know where I am, I miss my mum, what am I doing here." Gilbert trying his best to claim Sam down as he softly spoken said "you was chosen for this adventure by who I don’t know but the powers that be" [Gilbert not being the religion type and having faith] "with reasons unknown to most but with a reason, everything will be ok, I let nothing happen to you ok".

Sam who was now breathing normally said "what are them, people with pointe ears and that tall grey coloured skinned guy named Levi Mann I think what was he and I am scared his not going to eat me right" Gilbert "I understand you’re in a new world, seeing new things and not knowing what’s going on but you will be safe with me around". Sam took a deep breath and with a sigh said ‘Ok I try to do this for another day or two but I’m not making any promises’.

With that a knock on the door, Sarah who didn’t wait for anyone to respond to the knock walked in and said in a sotto voce tone "breakfast is ready and the others are waiting for you both and Xander" who responded back to me "elf time is different, whatever that means" as she walks out of the room to knock on Xander door for the second time, just before she gets a chance to knock, Xander walks out of the room and looks at Sarah and says with a honeyed but rude tone "you’re going to be late for breakfast you know" and walked past.

By this point Sam had washed and put his clothes back on and followed Gilbert down the stairs to the room to the left of the main hall which had a long table fall of food in the middle with small tables to the sides which had unlit candles on each table, the walls just like the main hall had Printing of lots young hero’s all in gold armour with the blue cape. Both Sam and Gilbert sat down at the table as they did this, they was handed a plate with some food on it.

Half an hour later everyone at the table had finished they food, Sir Elliott looked around and seeing this, with a [loud voice] said ‘now for the second test, for we going down stairs’ with that everyone followed Sir Elliott to the main hall and on the right there was stairs which lead down to a basement area on the left was racks with armour and weapons on and to the right was a pit with tables on, which had glasses filled with liquid in. Sir Elliott looking at the tables said ‘in pairs take a seat on each side of the table, this is the test’ Gilbert glad Sam and took the first stairs opposite each other.

Next was Faith who looked at Xander who was not very happy being picked by Faith but both sat down opposite each other and started to looking at the glasses filled with liquid, Faith saying ‘ I wonder what we will have to do with them’

Hudson, Levi both look at each other and say ‘better you then Suzy’ as they both laugh at the fact they said the same thing at the same time and with that both sit down and start looking at the glasses which was filled with a green ish liquid but too thick to see through.

Suzy who sat down at the other table but didn’t have any one on the other side just as Suzy was thinking why do I have no one to sat next too, with a loud noise as a full armoured human in silver armour with blue, having a mace on its back was a woman in her 20’s with light red hair and some type of holey symbol said ‘sorry I am late, what I miss?’. Sir Elliott saying ‘just the first test but sit here opposite to Suzy’. As she sat down she looked at Suzy and said ‘Hi, I am Winter Owen and I am here as you hero’s always need healing’.

Sir Elliott seeing everyone taking a sat, then said ‘1 of each of the glasses has poison in, you won’t know which one has it in for this task you have to drink from the glass to pass this test of the brave’

Straight away as the other members watched Gilbert giving one look to Sam, he then took both glasses and poured them together and drunk it all, and said ‘just like I promised Sam’

Faith looked at Xander, drunks the glass in front of her and said ‘does that mean I better then you?’ Xander, not happy with this fact of Faith drinking first with a huff ‘if you say so’ and with that, drinks from the glass with a smiles as he does.

Levi and Hudson both looked as each other and looked down the table to see the others who had all finished their drinks. Levi being like I don’t want to miss out took her glass but waited for Hudson to take his, Hudson who really didn’t really want to drink his but took a deep breath looked at Levi , took his glass , the sound of glasses hitting as Levi and Hudson drunk.

2 minutes after everyone who drunk their drinks dropped to the floor, Sam seeing this [in an unhappy tone] said ‘what did you do to them’. Sir Elliott saying to Sam said ‘they will be fine, maybe upside they all passed the test’

Sam replying ‘what about me?’

Sir Elliott ‘for you another test has to be done as Gilbert drunk yours, we will do that test as they sleep so just you and me’

After saying this, Sir Elliott started to walk back up the stairs as he does this, Sam hears ‘are you coming’ and Sam follows up the stairs as he walks out of the basement, he sees Sir Elliott with his sword out and stops walking.

Sir Elliott seeing Sam coming out the basement said ‘your test is to beat me if you can’, Sam who only had the dragger Gilbert give him replied ‘this does not look like a fair fight’ with laughed Sir Elliott said ‘when is life ever fair, you will face many things in this world and you will be tested against them all as a group but not always a fair fight’ and with his left hand jessed for Sam to attack him.

Sam who just watched Gilbert fall to the ground and not being sure if he was alright, takes the dagger he had on his side in to his left hand. With his eyes shut Sam rans at Sir Elliott to attack [rolls with disadvantage of 14 plus 1 = 15 attack and 11 plus 1 = 12 attack] as he runs to attack but hits only the armoured left arm of Sir Elliott.

Sir Elliott said ‘Nice try for your first attack, (laughs) try with your eye open maybe.’

Sir Elliott goes to attack but not wanting to hit Sam aims for the right side of him to hit the floor [rolls 9 plus 7 = 15 attack] he cuts part of Sam right sleeve and hit the floor. After this part of Sam sleeve falls off, Sam not happy says ‘really I only just got this outfit’ and goes to attack with his eyes open this time.

[rolls 14 plus 1 =15 attack ] as Sam runs to hit Sir Elliott and does so in the side of his armour, the blade only goes 2 feet in the armour but as Sam takes his blade out there is a small amount of blood. With that Sir Elliott smiles and looks at Sam and says ‘you passed, I was not sure you was going to fight but you suspired me, doesn’t happen a lot.

Sir Elliott ‘Come on, we should see how the others are getting on’

Sam replied ‘are they fine or not?’

Sir Elliott laughs ‘they are only a sleep so they are fine’

They walk down the stairs and both take a stair and wait about 1 hour as the other wake up as this was happening sir Elliott with a smile said ‘how was your nap’ , Xander not happy still from before says ‘ what type of trick was this, sir Elliott’.

The rest with their weapons in hand, Faith who was still sleeping was just getting up now ‘what’s happening, what have I miss?’, Sir Elliott seeing all this replies ‘everything is alright, it was just something to make you sleep and just all part of the test, to which you all passed’

After that, all including Gilbert and Sam pushed past Sir Elliott and all went to the dinner room next to the Main hall for some food and drink. Xander was the first to say how unhappy about being poisoned to the point of over reacting by saying with a fuss ‘I could of died, who knows what he could of put in are drinks’

Faith with a smile seeing this jumps up and starts acting like Xander ‘ooo my God, your right we could of died, and they could of hide are bodies and no one would of known’ with a roll of (16 plus 3 = 19 dispel check) for Faith and another dice roll for Xander (14 plus 4 = 18 insight check). Just as Faith finished talking, Xander who was trying to show how better elves are in comparing to other races goes in to a tight ball like shape and looks like he is having a panic attack.

Faith who was smiling about massing with Xander as she thinks he is just full of himself, stops smiling and grabs a glass of water from the table and throws it on Xander and says ‘everything is alright, we are still alive and Xander I was just joking’. Xander, who was already not happy with Faith for drinking her glass first, takes a deep breath and gets up without saying a word and walks out of the hall.

Suzy who really just wanted everyone to get on and be friends, looks at Faith and says [with her gun in hand] ‘that was not very nice, ok he can be a bit full of herself at times but that does not mean you have to pick on him ‘with that a roll for Suzy [4 plus 2 = 6 intimidation], Faith who really didn’t know what to do with Suzy attempt but looks back and says with a unhappy look ‘ok I go, get him’

Both Hudson and Levi who didn’t think much of Suzy from the looks of her at the Start of the other day, started to think maybe they underestimated her but it properly was she was only about 3 feet tall compared to Hudson who was just about 4 feet tall and Levi who was 6 and half feet tall.

Sam who was too busy to notice all this happening as he was eating part of a chicken, he find on the table in the dinner hill. Gilbert who was still thinking about Sam and looking him over to see if he was alright, took a depth breath as he could see Sam was missing his right sleeve. Gilbert seeing this leaves the room very fast to go to try to find Sir Elliott.
