As they got to the main hall their saw a number of other people waiting in the hall some that stand out was a woman in early 20’s with long red hair which covered most of face but a smile, who was a half elf wearing a grey and brown outfit which was with a longbow with flowers engraved in to bow and well too many colourfully arrows in her quill, another was a guy who was an elf in his mid-30’s in a light blue robe playing with what seemed to be a wand. Just as Gilbert was looking around the room to see the others who was there, a loud voice from the top of the staircase which was in the middle of this main hall said ‘welcome my name is Sir Elliott and I am the command of the hero academy, and you all must be here to see if you have what it takes to be hero and make a difference ’ as most of the room looked up to see Sir Elliott who was a human man in his late 60’s with a scar which was along and through his right eye which was just pure white, who was wearing gold armour with a chest of sword and shield over lapping with a blue cape. Sam who was listening but also looking around this main hall starting to see printing of great hero’s all around the room and saw one which looked like Sir Elliott but of which was a men in the same armour with no scar over his right eye but in his 30’s in his prime some would say.
Sam looked at Gilbert and pointed at the printing, Gilbert Smiled and continued to listening Sir Elliott also continued by saying ‘today you will be tested by 1 test and the next day you will have 2 tests which will test you in your skills as a hero’ now if you want to follow me to the training ground as each of the member of the group in the main hall, the guy who was wearing the light blue robe give a good look at Gilbert and whispered to him ‘your secret is safe with me’ as he smiled and walked past. Sam asked ‘what was that about Gilbert ’, Gilbert replied ‘ooo he was just asking where I got my armour from’ Sam who didn’t believe Gilbert wonder as he did in the back of us head he heard a dice roll (6 plus 1 = 7 insight check) and another dice roll (15 plus 4 = 19 dispel check) and a voice which sounded familiar to him which said ‘he is telling you the truth’ with that Sam said ‘ok’ and followed the others to the training ground.
As they got there Sir Elliott said ‘ first I would like each of you to introduce yourself to the group’ Gilbert went first who was human wearing silver and bronze armour with a long sword and shield and said ‘I am Gilbert a knight of house of the Adara and this is my squire Sam’ the next to go was the woman with short red hair who said [in a fruity voice] ‘my name is Faith Little and I am here to my family proud as a hero’ after Faith spoke next was the elf in the light blue robes with a silvery voice said ‘My name is Xander Bird’ in what is now a matter-of-fact voice ‘I am here as we all know elf’s are better hero’s then others races’ [with a smile as he said this]. As Xander said this most but not all the group looked at him with an unhappy look but also wanted to prove him wrong.
With a grin a Halfling wearing a brown coat and green bottoms which for most would not work but for this Hudson it worked on his back was a long Instrument which looks like Baglama, who spoke with a smoky voice said ‘I am Hudson Berry and I am here to see the world as I live in a small village of mini hill about 3 hours away from the city of stone’ To the left of him was a tall half orc wearing brown and black furs and wielding a iron hammer, who pushed passed Hudson with a wheezy voice and cough said ‘I am Levi Mann and I am here just to piss off my Father who disowned me for not being a full orc [then lengths as he says] well what did he think he would get from sleeping with a half orc’
The last to talk but not the last of the all the people there was woman who was gnome with long black hair and wearing green leathers with a small gun and a small bag with balls with white rope on top [bombs] . Said with a wobbly voice ‘I, I am Suzy Bird, I like to invent new toys and [with a smile] try them on new people. After every one had introduced them self’s, Sir Elliott said ‘now that done now for the first test’ he then led them to a maze with a difference it had many doors all-round the maze, Sam looked at Gilbert and said ‘which door do we pick’ Gilbert looked back to him with a smile ‘pick the door you want to pick’.
Just as Sam was going to pick the 2nd door from the right, a small elf in a black outfit pushed past him and said ‘this is my door’ as he opened it and walk in, all you could hear was a loud strident voice ‘NOOOOO’ [the elf took 4 points of fall damage] Sam opened the open to see the elf in a big pit and asked ‘would you like some help’ with Gilbert saying ‘don’t think we have time’ but anyway put a rope in the pit and helped the elf out of the pit. Then they picked a different door and entered the maze.
As Gilbert turned right and just as he started to walk out of one of the bush with speed was a blade as Gilbert went to move out of the way [a roll of 11-2 = 9 dexterity check] but was not quick to miss the trap and took a blade to his left side and [took 5 points of parsing damage] then looked back its now safe for you to walk but I will look for traps for the rest of the way. [A roll of 12 plus 5 = 17 investigation check] Gilbert pointed out the trip rope to Sam and the elf whom was now following them both of them, walked over the rope and Gilbert turned left as they did this, they saw Suzy [a roll of 16 plus 3 = 19 dexterity check] just as she rolled out of the way of a blade it parsed the other bush and went round the side of a bush.
Sam then asked ‘do you know where we are going’ Gilbert replied saying ‘we will find the exit and hopefully miss the traps’ as they continued their way down the maze, Sam look down the way [a roll of 8 plus 4 = 12 investigation check] and find a hole and then pointed at it as they looked down and inside the pit was an unhappy Hudson as he looked him up as he said ‘what are you guys waiting for get me out of this pit’ Gilbert laughs and once again dropped the rope down the pit and helped Hudson out of the pit. Sam who had now walked past the hole and turned right didn’t see a trap [a roll of 2 plus 4 = 6 investigation check ] just as he walk on the trip wire the blade came from the right, he rolled out of the way [with a roll of 19 plus 0 = 19 dexterity check] and looked back and said with some heavy breathing ‘one less trap which might of got me if I had not rolled out of the way’ after hearing this Gilbert said ‘a lesson to learn maybe but glad you are ok’ with that they had got to the middle of the maze where the all the others was waiting.
With that a loud voice Xander said ‘told you elf’s were better’ as the elf that was following Gilbert walked past, Xander looked down and said ‘he doesn’t count, he’s not me’ with a smile, from the other side of the maze Sir Elliott walked in and said ‘I see you all made it to the middle of the maze some did better than others but you all passed the first test now for food and rest. As they all made their way to the hero academy past the main hall to a table full with food [lots of cooked meals and other foods, wines and drinks for all. As the night hit the city of stone everyone had finished they food, Sam who tried to drink some of the alcohol, Gilbert seeing this asked ‘how old are you Sam’ Sam who was half way of tipping the mug replied ’15’. With a smile ‘Ok you can have some, you earned it’.
As the meal ended Sir Elliott said ‘each of you have a room, rest up for the next day and the next test’. As this was said Sarah walked them up the stairs and one by one showed them to their rooms.
