Updates, Faoii! Listen up!
We’re doing a good job so far. 18 hours in and we’ve got 29 pre-orders. That’s more than halfway to the number 10 spot on the leader board. I still think we can get that number 1 spot and let EVERYONE know who we are-- but I’ll let you know when we’re at least on the map. Good work, Faoii. Keep it up!
Now, for the bad news: I got a missive from the head of Thane Studios today. Thane Studios is/was an ally that asked me to join their collective about a month ago. You might have seen their shiny medal on our front page. This was a big honor for me, because collectives usually have more money, viewers and marketing abilities than regular authors, and when he invited me to join there was a lot of discussion on how they were going to help me get the necessary pre-orders to publish. In payment, they were to get 12% of the royalties of the books that were pre-ordered after I joined the collective.
Today, exactly 18 hours and 29 pre-orders after the beginning of the campaign, Thane Studios said that they wasn’t going to be able to help me market, after all, and told me that I could opt out of the collective. That’s all well in good, but Inkshare’s contract on the matter decrees that he still get his 12% within 30 days of me opting out (supposedly because it’s assumed that at least some marketing was done prior to this, and therefore at least some of those pre-orders could have been because of the collective’s influence). On paper, it makes sense. In reality it means that 12% of every pre-order thus far (and for the next 30 days) goes to these people who did absolutely nothing to assist with seeing The Last Faoii become reality, and that fills me with a rage I’m not sure I can adequately portray.
Obviously there’s nothing that I can do about it now, and we’re just going to charge forward after this. I still want that hill as quickly as possible, Faoii, regardless if someone else is profiting from our hard work. But if anyone who is reading this is trying to publish their own story through Inkshares-- DO NOT sign a contract with Thane Studios. As far as I can tell, it’s a scam.
Shields up, Faoii. We’re going to take that hill. Our banner will sit atop it and every single person on inkshares will know who we are and what we’re fighting for. Others will come to the call and help us hold it. This campaign is going to succeed, no matter what other people do to try and weaken our resolve.

All right, Faoii! Listen up!
Apparently communication broke down somewhere. I’ve been pacing these barracks impatiently for a few days now and finally contacted our Inkshares allies about why my soldiers haven’t gotten their weapons (read:refunds) yet. About 45 seconds later everyone got a message that their refund will be processed in 3 to 5 days. So we’re still waiting.
That hill is getting harder to take by the day, so when we are finally armed and ready, it’s going to take every single one of us to see the Faoii banner at it’s peak. We’re going to do it. We ARE going to take that hill in under 24 hours and make sure that every single person in this war remembers the day that the Faoii stepped onto the field. We will show them ALL that this project is worth it, and that we’re not giving up until its publication is a reality.
Don’t forget, faoii-- after we capture the hill we have to HOLD it. That’s a harder thing to do, but not impossible. Share, review, tweet, post, send blade-blasted carrier pigeons if that’s what it takes-- but prove to everyone you know that this is a fight worth joining, and that the people/world of The Last Faoii are worth saving.
The battle’s coming, Faoii. Shields up. I want to hear your battle cry.

Okay, Faoii! Are you ready?
I’m all set to launch the next phase of our campaign, but I want to make 100% sure that we’ve completely recovered from our first attack before I do so. Therefore, I need reports on whether not not refunds have been issued yet. Once I know you’re all armed and ready, we’ll take to the field.
Remember, this is a surprise attack. We’re going to take that hill in a single, unexpected rush, and it’s going to be glorious. Right now, virtually no one knows who we are or that The Last Faoii is a thing. But hundreds of people are checking in on that contest everyday, and I know how to make them take note of the best Dark Fantasy book on Inkshares right now:
We’re going to go from "Not competing" to "Top of Leaderboard" in 24 hours.
One day. It might seem impossible, but if every person that has already pledged their support to this project the fist time around did so again in that 24 hour spread, we’d hit that number 1 spot with a little bit of a cushion right off the bat. And that’s not even counting all of you who are new to the army and who have pledged your support since the first campaign "failed". So I have NO DOUBT that we’re going to take that hill. Then the other people who are paying attention will HAVE to take notice of our Faoii army. Word will spread like wildfire, and more people will join the campaign each day once we show them that it’s one worth joining. It’s possible. And we’re going to do it. I just need to hear back on those reports.
We’re going to launch soon, Faoii. Wait for my signal.

Okay, Faoii! Listen up!
The battle plan is set. We know the course, and we’re ready to follow it-- with you all backing me up, I know we can’t fail. The minute that refunds go out I want to push forward and open the new campaign, and I know that those of you who have supported me already will hold he line and put that money right back into Faoii’s publication. So, I changed the end date of the current set. You all should be getting your money back on Thursday. Which means we can charge forward and take that contest with a battle cry starting on Friday. There’ll be fire in our eyes and swords in our hands when we enter this last stretch-- people will know the minute we’re on the field, and it will be glorious.
If you follow my personal blog at all, you know that my life just broke into shambles a few days ago. I’ve swept the pieces into some sort of haphazard array that seems to be standing for the moment, and I’m going to move forward like that. Don’t pity or worry-- this is good news for you. Because while the rest of my life gets broken and swept aside or whatever, I have to keep my sanity by focusing on whatever positives I have-- namely The Last Faoii and your support. So most of my energy is going to be going into this campaign in the coming weeks. You can expect more artwork, more updates, yet another edit (or two) and I think I found another beta reader. Things are looking up for The Last Faoii. As long as I still have your support on Friday, we should be at the top of the contest early next week.
Up until now I have been invincible. Unstoppable. Whatever happens in my own life is irrelevant. I will not break now. And The Last Faoii is going to succeed.
See you on Friday.

Hi, everyone!!
There’s about a week left before you all get your money back and I put The Last Faoii up for the contest and for your real (and final) chance to pre-order! If you’re as excited as I am then it means you can hardly wait the last 8 days!!
Now, so many of you have asked me how you can make this REAL fight a victory, and I’ve been saying "just wait until I re-open it and pre-order again." Which is true. That will DEFINITELY help. But a second ago I remembered something else you can do to help The Last Faoii jump to the top and get MASS PUBLICATION! Are you ready?
Leave a review!
It’s so simple and so quick I don’t know why I didn’t ask all of you to help me with this earlier. All you have to do is go to one of the posted excerpts (here’s a link to one). Then, at the bottom right of the screen (you’ll have to scroll down) it will say "Leave a Review." Click on that and tell other people why you are supporting this book. It can be as short or as long as you want, I’m just asking for you to please be honest. I want this book to succeed on its own merits. I know it can. But only with your help.
Thank you again for all of your help and support. Keep your eyes out for your refund (you should get an e-mail when it goes back into your bank account). Then, please please please put that refund back into a pre-order for The Last Faoii. We’re going to make this happen.
Love always,
T
