Craig A. Munro liked an update for The Last Faoii

Today I want to give a shout out to my parents, Bob Dalrymple and Bonnie Bechtold. They’ve both done so much to make this book possible, and I (like most children) do not credit them enough.

My father has been the first line of defense against plot holes and grammatical errors since day one. Actually, even before day one-- he’s been reading every book and short story I’ve ever written since I could read. But for Faoii-- He listened to the idea long before I put pen to paper. He read the first chapter the morning after I woke up in the middle of the night and wrote it all down in one sitting. He was the first person to read the finished manuscript. The first one to offer advice and opinions. He read every rejection letter from every agent. He knows the inkshares process as well as I do now because he’s had to listen to me talk about each new step for several hours several times. This book exists, in large part, to him-- and its clean and polished edges are his doing as well.

My mother has shared EVERY SINGLE POST I’ve put up about The Last Faoii. Several times. And with more capitalization and exclamation points each time a new missive has gone out. She’s resilient and insistent and has more than earned her Faoii title. Half of you wouldn’t even know about this book if it wasn’t for her being my number one fan.

But even before The Last Faoii. Before the books, short stories, and poems. Before I could write or read... I grew up watching both of these people read every night. I listened as they read to me before bed. I learned to appreciate literature even before I knew the word. And that, I think, was the basis of all of this.

Thank you both. I love you. And I know I don’t say that enough, either.

All, thank you for the support. I have gotten some news that I’m waiting to see how it pans out but two media productions companies have asked about the series. One would like to submit it to Universal studio. Another is suggesting submitting a finished film to the Sundance festival. Sorry, I had to look that up and see what it was. And after looking it all up. I was like Wow! Wow, I never expected all this attention on something not published yet.  I knew it had gained stellar attention off line but I didn’t expect anyone to recommend it to a production company! I laughed to myself "I can get a film production recommendation when I can’t get an online book one."

Yes, I’m aware there are scam artists out there who will say they will make your book into a movie if you pay them large sums of money. So always do my research on such offers.

I will let you all know how it turns out.

Just 2 new backers away from raffling off my latest art. Here’s a sneak peak as promised. Don’t forget, I’m including some snarky feline poetry from the book that accompanies this piece.

I’m not quite finished with it, but it’s most of the way there:

For those lurking, please back me if you like what you see; if you are a backer, please spread the word to see more illustrations like this one appear in our book. I’m also encouraging those that can to order extra copies (each backer can order up to 10 copies) and donate them to schools and libraries.

Each illustration takes loads of time and lots of TLC, but I love the challenge as it really terrifies me to be both the writer and illustrator of our project. Force me into a flurry of action!

I’ll check back in with you soon.

      Best Wishes,

      Kevin

The Cradle and the Sword has a new book trailer!

Yes — I, too was somewhat flummoxed by the idea of creating a video trailer for a book. I mean, what was I supposed to put on display? I wondered. Book quotes? Images of Mesopotamian art? Come on. Let’s be honest — who’s really going to be entertained by a photo montage? I wanted to give you something of value. A video you can actually enjoy.

And since — as the old saying goes — "anything worth doing is worth doing on an epic blockbuster scale," I decided to fulfil my fantasy of a Cradle and the Sword  HBO series.

This is, after all, the "ancient Mesopotamian Game of Thrones."

        Watch it here! https://youtu.be/kEAmDKVVCnA

Thank you, all of you, from the depths of my heart, for helping support this project. New excerpts, updates, and cool ancient Mesopotamian content are coming your way soon.

Craig A. Munro liked an update for APEX

            Dearest Readers,

We’ve managed to pull into third place! It’s a precariously small lead of only 5 pre-orders, so our work is far from done, but thank you all from the bottom of my heart for helping me achieve this success. I must check the scores five times a day (possibly more) to see how I’m doing in the rankings. As we’ve risen in sales, so have my competitors. I know they’re just as anxious to rank in the top three as I am, so I’m not surprised.

After my graduation ceremony at Stanford, where I read an excerpt of my novel (very fun), I went to a workshop on getting published and how to market one’s work. I’ve taken that input to heart and will be trying a few things over the next week to see if I can gain some distance on my 4th and 5th place competitors. If I find any strategies that work, I’ll be sure and share them with you all.

Individual notes of gratitude are coming shortly. I just wanted to let you all know that we’re getting there! Only two weeks left to keep pushing for a third place finish and a guaranteed publication of APEX!

            Cheers, Debbie

              Dear Readers,

I’ve heard word that some of you have already received your e-book copies and your hardback copies of the book in advance of the Oct 25th publishing date. I’m thrilled that you’re able to enjoy the book early. Your support, of course made this release possible.

Special thanks to Felicia Day for signing almost 1000 headshots for the hardback owners and her continued online support of the book.

If you enjoy the book and are willing to take one extra step, I would be most grateful for a review left on Goodreads or Amazon.

It will go very far in getting the book out to more people. I’m thrilled that the book is being reviewed very well by the press and I will share any of those as I get them over the next week before launch.

I am doing a small number of appearances to sign the book in person. Sometimes you can bring in the book to get a signature if you purchase something else in the store in exchange. Be sure to call to check to make sure that’s permissible, but I would be thrilled to meet some of you in person to thank you for your support.
