Tony Valdez liked an update for Murder at the Veterans’ Club

    Dear friends and followers,

As I said last update, this one’s a bit late. I hope you won’t hold it against me. I’m sure we’re all very busy, so let’s get right to the news.

First of all, the third cheque to Chez Doris was written and delivered this morning. Not a stellar amount, I’m afraid, but one hopes the upcoming month will do better.

Secondly, we have a second Peterkin Investigates Interactive Fiction game to go with the novel: "Point Blank Blank", in which it turns out that some of you (and your octopus friends too) may have been around for a bit longer than might be expected....

And thirdly ... well, thirdly, what else is new? I’ve been away for a week. I’ve also been a little remiss in checking out the shelves at Inkshares....

    1) "Our Family’s Elephant", by Christopher A. Michaels. A perfectly charming children’s story about a pocket-sized elephant who may or may not exist. I think your inner child is bound to fall in love.

The new G&S contest has a pretty broad category, and a few rules tweaks. It looks like a bunch of people have jumped onto the contest wagon, and I’m not sure where to even begin, now. I’ll think of something; in the meantime, browse and see if anything catches your eye ... keep reading. Have fun.

Tony Valdez liked an update for Rune of the Apprentice

      Apprentices and Masters,

So very excited to say that on Saturday I had my first LIVE TV INTERVIEW! So amazing!

Click HERE to watch! It was such a surreal experience and I was so nervous! But everyone at FOX45 was super friendly! They had received an advance copy and many had already read RUNE! I was blown away by the reception I got! SO FREAKING COOL!

Speaking of freaking cool, another blurb for RUNE just came in, too! Check it out!

"Within just a few moments of beginning to read Rune, I was immediately drawn into the adventurous, magical world that Jamison Stone has created―my heartbeat pulsed, my breath grew shallow, my fingers trembled as I leap from page to page―and this was all in merely the first chapter! Stone has hit it out of the ballpark with this book, and you will not want to put it down. An epic read indeed." ―Ben Greenfield, New York Times bestselling author of Beyond Training

I am so humbled by all the positive feedback I am getting for RUNE and SO EXCITED for everyone to get their copies! (If you want to check out all of the other blurbs click HERE.)

In other news: Geek & Sundry is hosting another contest, and this time it’s Fantasy!

MANY people have asked if I am going to submit RUNE’s sequel into the contest, and my answer is a definitive NO. And here is why: I feel Inkshares contests should be to raise awareness to NEW authors, not ones with a strong following. The reason I was able to publish RUNE, and have the courage to take a leap into crowd funding, is because I knew that the Nerdist contest would be a fair(ish) playing ground, and although I did not win, RUNE is now Inkshares’ #3 top selling book in Fantasy, despite still being in pre-orders!

So, no, I am not entering the contest--Instead, I am going to support NEW authors who come onto the Inkshares platform and hopefully enable someone unknown, like I was, get their chance to shine! To that end, if anyone fits that description and wishes their book to be featured on my blog just tweet me @StoneJamison and we will make it happen!

Truly exciting times for RUNE and Inkshares and I am so happy to be sharing it with you!

p.s. Next week I will be in Seattle’s KeyArena for the DOTA International Convention and Championship! I will be there for the ENTIRE event (8+ days!) Follow me on Twitter @StoneJamison for live updates of all the excitement! It will be EPIC! #GGWP

Tony Valdez liked an update for Disintegration

Hey, everybody! I sent out the Disintegration manuscript to my beta readers last night. I’m excited to receive their feedback. It feels great to move one step closer to publication.

I’ll send along Chapter Three later today. If you’ve been reading the chapters as I send them, do send me a DM and let me know what you think.

In other news, I’ve entered the current Geek and Sundry Fantasy Contest with my story Lamda Scorpii. It ties into Disintegration but, due to its setting and its characters, it fits nicely into the fantasy genre if you consider Arthur C. Clarke’s position on magic.

Please check out Lamda Scorpii, follow it, pre-order it, recommend it! We did amazingly in the last contest, with Disintegration, and we started three weeks late. This time, we’re starting at the beginning. With your help, we can win this one.

        Excelsior!

Tony Valdez liked an update for Exile, Magus

Hey everybody!  I didn’t expect to be saying this for at least another 3-4 months, but Exile, Magus is live and in funding mode!  When I saw the G&S contest announcement, it was too good of an opportunity for me to pass up.  I’m now in that somewhat panicky "I wasn’t ready for this" first day of campaign launch mode.  Its both an incredibly nervous and highly energized feeling.  I’ve already gotten a pretty good start, so now its just up to me to keep up the momentum.  I’m hoping you’ll join me in that endeavor as well.  That’s all I’ve got for now, expect to hear from me every Tuesday or Thursday from now until the end of this contest with updates on our progress as well as other fun "things" I’ve been doing my best to save up to share with you all.

As always, thanks for your time, support, and keep reading!

Tony Valdez liked an update for It’s All Fun and Games

It still hasn’t quite sunk in yet, but as of today I am a published author.

Almost a year after I first started pestering people with buymybookbuymybookifyou’rereallymyfriendyou’llbymybook harassment, it’s finally out.  If you’re reading this, you’ve already gotten your copy (I hope!), but now they’re available online at Amazon, B&N and others, and at dozens of independent bookstores all around the country.

            Thank you so much.

The amount of effort that goes into publishing a book is truly awe inspiring.  My editors Kiele Raymond and Michael Trudeau transformed some mediocre writing into the polished manuscript you received this past month.  I’m beyond over-the-moon about the cover Elyse Lyons produced for me, and Emily Zach and the rest of the production team at Girl Friday was professional 100%.

Meanwhile, at Inkshares, my marketing manager Avalon has been working overtime getting me interviews, reviews, and my books in stores, while newly appointed CEO Adam Gomolin has been in overdrive on the derivative properties side.

And then there are the Nerdist folks, who not only sponsored the contest in the first place, making this whole thing possible, but who also treated me like a real Author when I visited them at Comic Con in San Diego.

Thank you all for your tireless work to make this project as successful as possible.

            Now, some news:

Monday night I was featured on The 207, a Portland and Bangor local features show on NBC.  The boys from Bull Moose were extremely kind in their promotion of my novel.

Today I woke up to a Bangor Daily News review, which was similarly positive.

I’m also looking at scheduling book signing events around the Bangor area over the next several weeks.  Check out my Facebook page to stay current!

Lastly, in case you missed it, I’ve got a Comic Con recap on my blog, which you can find here.

            So that’s pretty much it.

I can say thank you enough
            Dave
