Michael Valdez liked an update for Tale of Boulderoth

Boulderoleros!

It's #MapStuffMonday!  So here's a map!  With the "invention" of that "giant goat thing" I united a whole people who were kinda already there, but they were kinda random and I didn't really know them that well.  Now I know them!  They're great!  It'll be a huge bummer wiping them out when the Kingdom rolls into town, but such is imperial expansion.  If you want an imperial omelette, you have to massacre a lot of local eggs.  But before I crack those eggs, I'm developing their cultures and it's a lotta fun.  Think Native Americans + Mongols as you get further north and then up north where the grasslands give way to the desert is where all my spaghetti westerns are gonna happen.  It's a good day.  Be well!

      Dear Friends

My editor Penny-Lane and I want to wish you all a Happy Holidays.

Thank you for your support, for your words of encouragement, and for making 2015 one of the best years of my life.

This year I did two big things: I ran the New York City Marathon, and I wrote a novel. It would be easy to pat my back and congratulate myself for such achievements, but the truth is that the blood, sweat and tears that took to achieve those two things were not only mine.

There were so many people cheering for me every time I reached a milestone; there were so many friends and family picking me up when I fell and thought I couldn’t keep going. There was all of you, who took a chance on my book and helped me reach my funding goal.

If I learned anything this year is that hard-work is not all it takes to achieve big dreams; a support system, a network of love is what make dreams come true.

So once again: Thank You All!

It wouldn’t be a proper end of the year update without a quote from the wisest man in the universe:

“There’s a lot of things you need to get across this universe. Warp drive… wormhole refractors… You know the thing you need most of all? You need a hand to hold.”

      The Tenth Doctor, Fear Her.

Michael Valdez liked an update for She Is the End

        Everyone!!

The Review-a-Thon happened and it was AMAZING! Call me foolish, but I didn't really understand how much the positive reviews for my book were going to mean to me, personally, as an author. There was a lot of goodwill flowing around the world of Inkshares this weekend, and I LOVED IT!

Byron Gillan, Renee Horsman, Alan Tucker, Jamison Stone, Craig Munro, Thomas J. Arnold (seriously, man, I cried), Rochelle Germano, and A.R. Patterson - thank you so much for your kind words about She Is the End!

Here's the link to the livestream, which is saved on youtube for all posterity:
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pSOpnFYGMM&feature=youtu.be

Chrome crashed on me about 60 seconds into the live broadcast, which was exactly what my stress level needed at that moment, hahahahaha *internal screaming*. But the rest was great! Go watch it!

Sincerest thanks must go out to the following amazing people, without whom the entire event would have been lonely and boring for me, sitting there all by myself:

        For kick-ass hosting abilities:
        JF Dubeau
        Paul Inman

        For giving awesome interviews:
        Gary Whitta
        Rick Heinz
        Jeyna Grace
        Jim McDoniel

For being helpful, interesting, creative, supportive, and brilliant:
        John Robin
        Joe Terzieva
        Amanda Orneck
        Christine Brenneke
        Tony Valdez

        And for pretty much everything:
Jeremy Thomas, Adam Gomolin, and Matt Kaye at Inkshares

I'm not really seeing things with much perspective right now, because for me this was a huge amount of work with fabulous results... so I'm kinda just reeling. It was just one day, but man. A supportive writing community is a glorious thing to be a part of.

Thank you, really, everyone who participated.

I have already been scolded extensively for not jumping at the chance to talk up my book during the livestream. I was in producer mode, guys! Give me a break!

I need to get better about that. So, in that spirit, I'll say: pre-order my book!

Relai's not going down without a fight! Milo is a big muscly marshmallow! Tannor doesn't take any crap! Goren doesn't know what's going on but he's probably gonna shoot somebody at some point! And Ky's just along for the ride, no secret angst here, hahahaaaa!

        Pre-order it!

And thanks. Really. Thank you, everyone.

Michael Valdez liked an update for After the Ruin

It's been a long road without as much progress as I would have liked but alas, the end of this campaign is closing in.  There are only two more days to hit my goal and only 21 copies ordered.  The fault is mine; I haven't posted anything new lately hoping for more followers before I did, and have been preoccupied with finishing my bachelor's degree and... well you get the idea.  Excuses and all that.  After the Ruin is still in the works and will definitely return to Inkshares for another go.  Thank you all for your support and I hope to see you all succeed in your endeavors in the new year!

          Merry Christmas!

            Boulderoleros!

I "invented" a new animal this week!  It's basically just a bighorn sheep, only it's HUGE and these guys ride them into battle and use them for EVERYTHING and they're really central to their culture. Their whole civilization pretty much revolves around these things.  They can ride the males into battle and make sweet bows out of their giant horns (which can weigh up to 100 lbs.) and the females provide crazy weird amounts of wool (they're huge) and meat and milk and stuff.  They make junk outta the bones.  They're like buffalo.  It's great.  It's one of those weird little things that's about to help me POWER through some o' dis history.  Once the herds migrate south into the former Tarkin lands, now the Kingdom of the Old Crag, the Harres follow them and the new King is like "Oh no you don't!"  He thinks they're attacking, but they're just doing what they've been doing for hundreds of years.  But he doesn't know that, so he orders his dudes to build some castles and then eventually they call on Madman Titus Tavro to go ask them to stop and he and his "Mad Men" wind up doing a whole bunch o' murder and that starts a war, and the war is the war and after the war there's power shifts and regime changes and the Kingdom grows and turns into an empire and burns down and then it's Book time!  I'm so excited!

            You guys are the best!

Michael Valdez liked an update for Dax Harrison

              Hey friends!

Did everyone have a great Saturday? I did! I was running back and forth between participating in the Inkshares Review-A-Thon, running errands, and deep cleaning the apartment for an ugly sweater Christmas party!

Needless to say, it was a busy day. But a fun one! And unfortunately, I didn't get to leave nearly as many reviews for my fellow authors as I wanted to, so I will most definitely be making up for that this week.

I DID however join in for JF Dubeau & Paul Inman's livestream broadcast. Many thanks to them, the other participating authors, and a massive thanks to A.C. Weston as well, the overworked mastermind behind this amazing event. You can watch the full video HERE. The Dax Harrison live-reading antics begin around 51:00, but I encourage you to watch the full stream if you have a chance. There are some great interviews with multiple authors and Inkshares co-founder Adam Gomolin!

I have yet to watch the replay of the live-reading myself, but apparently we must have done something right! Dax scored 12 more orders yesterday, and 4 today! I also took the opportunity last night to bug a few folks at the Christmas party. *mwah ha ha ha!*

Let's take a look at the countdown: 6 days left, 22 orders to go!

Oh, we've got this. We've SO got this! There's some more good stuff brewing at Camp Dax for this final week. Stay tuned!

              -Tony

P.S.: I know I'm a bit behind on the latest mug giveaways. After this final push, I will get caught up, probably in one big grand finale video. See ya soon! :)
