Greetings hexers and machina pilots,
I just closed the book on the revision of my second draft of Deus Hex Machina. The feedback from the beta readers was positive, so I felt pretty confident in pushing forward with a general language pass on the draft.
In the end, I have about 73,000 words, which comes out to just under 300 pages spread over sixteen chapters. I am very happy with the end result of my personal edits, so no matter what results come of The List contest, I will be submitting my draft to Inkshares on the 31st (that if I can keep my overexcited self from just sending the thing over today) From then the book heads into a production process that takes anywhere from 12 to 18 months.
Thank you for supporting this book for the year it took to fund and then write it. Hopefully next year I’ll be talking to you about a book that’s already published. Wouldn’t that be a great way to end 2017?
One last request: For anyone interested in preordering DHM, there are 10 more days in The List contest, so now’s the perfect time. While you get a copy of the book, you also will help give it a chance to get a full publication contract, which means a spiffy pro cover, even more delicious edits to hone the story, and distribution onto bookstores nationwide.
Have a great Tuesday friends and as always
May the code replicate eternal.
It’s alliiiiiiiivvvvveeee!
More accurately, it’s desiiigggnnnnedddd! A huge congratulations and thank you goes out to Maria Laguna-Valenzuela for putting her energy behind this project and coming up with such a mega cover. I, for one, like the book so much more now! (Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always been a fan, but now it’s got a certain je ne sais quoi about it, you know?) Maria was inspired to help me create even more meaning behind this story, and I’m honoured to be partnering with her in this way. Thank you, Maria.
From my last update you already know how blown away I was by all the submissions and support I received, and that hasn’t changed. Still blown away, still happier than a pig in... ahem. Thank you to all who helped make this happen.
You can’t see me, but I’m dancing right now. Exactly like this guy.
.
Just over 20 days left to my first goal of 250 pre-orders, and because of all you folks, I’m only SIXTEEN units away! Pretty unbelievable. Thank you for reading and continuing to believe in this project.
Donna
PS. In case you missed it, the dandelion on the cover depicts Vole and Bay, Vole being the yellow petals and Bay the fluffy flower. Vole is giving up his last 25 years of life depicted by the falling petals, and the fluffy seeds are Bay’s wishes getting fulfilled. These seeds travel and can land wherever the sun sets, or in this case, on one of Bay’s wish list of places.
Hey Campers!
I just wanted to let you know that things are moving along smoothly with Sunshine is Forever. I am starting the developmental edit today, which is very exciting!

HEY THERE READERS!
As you know (or if you forgot), DAX HARRISON was nominated into a new Inkshares competition known as THE LIST 2016. From now until December 31st, the amount of new readers I acquire will determine if I land a FULL publishing ride (as opposed to the "Quill" light publishing deal I originally reached). That means additional perks like marketing support, physical bookstore distribution, cover design, etc.

Currently, Dax stands in 7th place according to the contest page. Though that number may be corrected in the near future (My actual total reader count stands at 274). Either way, I would looove to see this number go up.
I know it’s been a long ride for those of you who have been with me since this thing started last year. But if you get a chance to do me a tiny favor this holiday season and just take a minute to share this book with another silly sci-fi loving friend, I would really appreciate it. On Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, in a personal email, smoke signal, telegraph, messenger raven, whatever you like. Just tell them it’s a fun little story with laughs and spaceships and explosions, all for the price of 2 Grande Pumpkin Spice Lattes! (Actually cheaper if you include the tax!)*
*$10 for the ebook, $20 for paperback/ebook bundle
And for those of you who are following this book (there’s over 500 of you total!) but have NOT bought a copy yet, let’s chat a minute.
"What can I do to get you into your own personal copy of Dax Harrison today?" (Imagine that in a sleazy used car salesman voice)

Seriously though, I would love to hear from my mysterious followers. Feel free to direct message me on Inkshares and say hi. Who knows? Maybe I just might be able to convince you to give old Dax a chance. ;)
Happy Holidays everyone! (*slips on plaid blazer, combs hair, adjusts pinky ring*)

Hello followers of the business of monkeys. Hope everybody is doing great. I know its been a long time since I updated you but it’s cool, you get plenty of updates from Inkshares. I wanted to say happy holidays and new years and all that jazz.
I am currently in the process of recording an audiobook for Monkey Business. This is me doing it on my own time and own dime but I hope it will be a fun listen for anyone who is interested. I have learned that it’s really hard to narrate and audiobook! When it’s ready, I’ll let you know how to get a copy.
Also, if you’ve read Monkey Business and would like to leave an Amazon Review, that would be just fine and I would be most grateful. I stalled on the long road to 100 reviews but I think it’s at 57 right now, which is pretty good. A few more would certainly help though!
If I haven’t mentioned it enough, Monkey Business would make a great gift. I mean, a great gift.
And lastly, if you haven’t purchased or read Monkey Business yet, check it out. I think it makes a great I’ve had too much eggnog and don’t want to talk to my family anymore escape this holiday season. Instead of watching A Christmas Story that third time, crack open a funny little book that takes place somewhere with palm trees, sand and sun. And exploding fish.
Happy Holidays you crazy kids. ~ Landon
"I’m trying to imagine the thought process that begins with I need to pick up a few things from the store and ends with I should probably stop in the bathroom real quick and snort a shit ton of oxycodone. Maybe if we can wake this gentleman up I can make some inquiries but right now his respiratory drive has gone night night. Which is just a fancy way of saying his body gives no fucks about breathing. That’s why Tommy is on his knees in the pharmacy section of Publix bagging this dude... "
... that is an excerpt from Don’t Stop Believing. Or Breathing a new chapter from Black Cloud.
Hey Everybody! I know it’s been a long time since I sent an update. My bad. I kind of put this project on hold for a while because my life outside of writing got really busy. I do have a new job and a new tiny human to show for it though, so I wasn’t slacking.
Some of you may know that Black Cloud made the top 5% of the Scott Free Launchpad competition. That means I didn’t make it into the Inkshares contest but did make the top 100. That is a very encouraging start for a book still in its infancy.
If you have a few minutes please check out the new chapter. It’s a quick read and I’m sure it will amuse you at least a little bit. Especially if you’re a fan of Journey’s rock classic, "Don’t Stop Believing."
If you have a few moments please share this project on Inkshares, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, or wherever it is that you share things. I plan to wait until after the new year to launch but as most of you know, building a following before launch is critical. If you can help out that would be the coolest. You’d be the coolest.
Thank you folks for the early support. Oh and here’s a gross amusing video of me being tortured on behalf of this book.
