Chris Robinson liked an update for Rise

I had planned on a news heavy update on Rise and its production schedule.  Then my phone exploded with tweets and texts and Facebook updates.  Now, it all seems just a bit...unimportant.

Oh no! Someone let me talk about my CRAFT.

    https://epicfantasywriter.wordpress.com/2015/11/13/world-builders-g-derek-adams/

I'm a guest today on World Builders, a site chronicling the world building process for tons of authors. I'm there at the largesse of fellow Inkshares author John Robin - a far more generous, thoughtful and diligent author than I. He also smells nice.

Also! He has his own book - BLOOD DAWN that is still funding on the site. From the looks of things his novel has even more dragons than mine does, so fans of the draconic and fans of good writing take note and check out his campaign page below. At certain backer levels you can even become a dragon in the book FOR REAL, SON.

I know some of you are probably still sitting on Inkshares credit - you should seriously consider investing it in his project - actually HOLY SHIT I HAVEn't BACKED HIS BOOK THIS IS SO EMBARASSING. GOING TO DO THAT RIGHT...NOW!

      News from Inkshares:

There is now an e-book purchase option at $10.00.

This purchase does count toward the final goal of 750 pre-orders.

We have 628 pre-orders, leaving only 122 more until Inkshares will begin the publishing process.

Thank you, as always for your support and encouragement thus far.

        Hi Everyone!

Long time no chat!  Things have been chugging away and this is a good time to let you know what has happened since my last message.

        1) The production team has been assembled.  If you visit the project page and scroll down beneath the supporters you will see who is responsible for what, as well as an overall timeline.  We are evidently 15% through the process, whatever that means.

        2) I had a conference call with my design pro, and they're putting together drafts for the cover.  A special shout out to Amanda Orneck, whose cover carried me through the funding process.  Check out her Inkshares author page for info about her own novels (one of which is already for sale on Amazon.com for the low low price of only $.99!).

        3) We have a release date (sorta)!  You'll now see on the project page that It's All Fun and Games "publishes July 2016."  I'm not going to lie - I had no idea how much time it takes to professionally produce a novel.  Again, I encourage you to take a look at the production timeline to see what's going on.  Believe it or not, it takes over two months to get the books printed after the finished files have been emailed.  Mind boggling.  In any case, "July" is currently as precise as we get.  There are rumblings that the release may be timed to coincide with Comic-con (yes, THAT Comic-con).

        4) Most excitingly (more exciting than a release date, to me at least) is that I have received comments on the first draft from my developmental editor, Kiele Raymond.  Kiele is a veteran of Simon and Schuster and a total pro.  Her line edits will make the reading smoother and her big picture suggestions have already begun to make the novel a more fulfilling read.

I'll be chugging away on my revision, which is due back to Inkshares in early December.  In the meanwhile, don't forget to check out It's All Fun and Games on Facebook and hook up with me on twitter @llabak.

        Thanks again for your support!

        Cheers
        Dave

Chris Robinson liked an update for An Unattractive Vampire

          This just in...

Galleys! I have galleys! And instead of sweaty men with oars, mine have pretty, pretty fonts. I dare you not to fall in love with that chapter title. Dare you.

Also, adding to last update, I'm currently sitting in a Barnes & Noble with an open window on my laptop where you can buy my book from Barnes and Noble.

          http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/an-unattractive-vampire-jim-mcdoniel/1122232287?ean=9781941758649

To say I'm excited is an understatment. Again, thank you to everyone who has bought my book so far. None of this would have happened without you and your support.

Now, I have a few plugs for other books:

It's the final days of Scott T. Barsotti's Inkshares campaign for his horror thriller Single Version. He's already surpassed the light publishing goal and is very close to his full publishing goal. Put this acclaimed horror writer over the top by ordering your copy today, won't you. And I mean today.

          https://www.inkshares.com/projects/single-version

Also, Ken McCoy's Hellrazor campaign will be ending soon. Nazi occultism. Norse gods. Murder. And that's just the first chapter. Head over there and order while you can.

          https://www.inkshares.com/projects/hellrazor

And if you haven't already spent all your money on books and the return of Mystery Science Theatre 3000,  how about the newcomer Dracula v. Hitler for all your non-Yulric vampire needs.

          https://www.inkshares.com/projects/dracula-v-hitler

Again, thank you all. Until next update.

          Jim

            Dear followers!

What a time to be alive!

You'll soon be able to pre-order ebooks on Inkshares for half the print book price, MST3K is coming back, and John Robin showed us his stupidly handsome face!

            What will happen next???

Anyway, here's one grainy shot of me reading at the MNSpec 2015 Local Author Showcase hosted by Conrad Zero on Sunday! Video is coming soon, they say. Everyone was very complimentary and encouraging, and I was impressed by the quality of the other readings. 10/10 would do again.

The coolest part of this event by far was meeting other interesting authors. Notably, Linday Loree, who read from her short story that's part of Twin Cities Speculations: An Anthology of Sci-Fi and Fantasy! She's super cool and awesome and I recommend you check out that anthology.

I also made friends with two awesome kindred spirits, Erika Hammerschmidt and John C. Riker, authors of Kea's Flight. They are everything I'd want out of a local author scene and MORE.

Speaking of awesome things from the Twin Cities...

            GUESS WHAT

TIME FOR A TOUR OF MINNESOTA

Today's Museday Mix: Tom Wood Edition will float you down a Mississippi River of awesome Minnesota artists. Did I mention my characters spend Episodes IV - IX in Minnesota? Well they do!

Tom is me if I were single, jobless, bearded, and believed aliens live among us. He is ridiculous.

            Museday Mix: Tom Wood Edition

Lady You Shot Me - Har Mar Superstar*
Where Have You Been - The Fattenin' Frogs**
Only Life I Know - Brother Ali
Bei Mir Bist Du Schon - The Andrews Sisters
Junkie - 4onthefloor live at First Ave***
Times They Are A'Changin' - Bob Dylan cover by Peter Jones
            Purple Rain - Prince
            Closing Time - Semisonic

You get only 8 songs because Tom doesn't enter into the story until Episode V.

            Finally, here's a serious recommendation:

Tacos. Eat tacos and pre-order Tacocity: Los Angeles Through the Eyes of a Tacophile by Rob Gokee. Because tacos.

I have some plans and events coming up, but I'm thinking I'll do a separate "upcoming events" update on Fridays from now on!

            Until then...

***I went to my first concert with my husband at First Ave. We saw P-Funk and it was awesome.

And then there comes the day. The day when the sun shines and you see something beautiful.

Here it is. The official front cover of Asteroid Made of Dragons. The entire team at Inkshares and Girl Friday Production and our designer David Drummond really knocked it out of the park. Tom and Veronica from Sword & Laser were also instrumental in guiding the style of this and I can't thank them enough. If it weren't for all these skilled, talented, kind people - the cover would have probably come out looking something more like this:

              How do I feel?

Proud and terrified. This cover is marketable and slick and makes me feel very, very grown up. Also it kind of looks like a Beholder.

I wanted you guys to be the first to see - as you're the ones that made it happen. I'll do an 'official' reveal on my site in the next day or so, but for now GAZE DEEPLY INTO THE ABYSS.

Chris Robinson liked an update for Disintegration

If you live in New York, you're aware of how crap is the weather. Well, this is a good day on Earth, in Disintegration. This is just shy of beautiful: gray skies, no direct sunlight, constant spittle raining down. Heavenly.

                Just imagine a bad day.

Bad days are more normal, in my book. Charcoal-colored skies and near-perpetual, sulfuric acid-polluted rain. Being outside in that muck would be unpleasant enough without roving hordes of Ingili (corren exiles from the Confederation military) and human brigands trying to rob you at best ... and whatever you can imagine, at worst.

I've been writing. Constantly writing. Revising. Not sure how I'm going to make 750 hardcover copies but I'm wishin', and hopin' and thinkin' and prayin' (well, not prayin') ... and even though the song tells me that won't get my book into people's arms (that is what the song is about, right?), I'm-a do it anyway.

Inkshares will be adding an additional three weeks to my campaign because they now have an eBook-only purchase option that is exactly half the cost of the hardcover book.

Something to bear in mind: the price is not the cost of the book itself.

The price is the amount of your donation. Your contribution to crowdfunding the publication of a new author. Me. You'd be investing not just in Disintegration going to print, but also in getting your unique artwork-drawn by me (I'm a pretty decent artist, so this prize doesn't actually suck)--and creating exposure for this story, which would translate so well to screen. Imagine Disintegration as a Netflix series. How cool would that be?

                Order your copy, today.

Chris Robinson liked an update for Monkey Business

                  Hello folks!

My wife is currently on a plane somewhere over America doing a final read through of Monkey Business. Once she's done with that I'll be sending in the manuscript to Inkshares. Presumably they will try to turn it into something a person might actually want to read.

I don't know if they've completely worked out the light publishing process yet but we'll find out together. I'll let you know more as I know more.

Thank you all. Thank you so much.

                  - Landon
