WE DID IT!

We hit 250 pre-orders! Actually, as I type this, we’re at 261. Not quite enough to win the Geek and Sundry contest, but enough to guarantee publication. No matter what else happens, SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS will be printed and available for sale on Amazon. How do I feel about this?

Seriously, I am overwhelmed by the support you’ve all shown me and this book in the last month. Some of you are family. Some of you I haven’t seen in over ten years. Some of you are complete strangers. But from now on, I consider all of you friends and rock stars. A thousand thank yous are not enough.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

The contest may be over, but the crowd-funding period continues until January 1. If we can get to 750 pre-orders by then, Inkshares will put full marketing and distribution
support behind SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS. So keep mentioning it to friends and spreading the word, it helps us out a ton!

BUT WHEN WILL YOU GET YOUR BOOK?

Not until 2017, I’m afraid. When, I’m not exactly sure yet. One of the reasons I chose to publish with Inkshares is that SORCERY has a heavy design element. So we have to get notes from an editor, create around 30 illustrations, design a cover, and format every page to look like a "For Dummies" guide. I want to create something for you guys that looks really cool and different, but to do that will take a little time.

However -- if you’d like to read SORCERY earlier, simply let me know and I will send you a PDF of the full manuscript. I’ll probably make some edits myself before sending it to Inkshares, but I can send a PDF by Christmas for those who are interested.

Again, I’d like to take a moment to thank all of you for your support and friendship. Crowd-funding this book was one of the more scary things I’ve done, and your encouragement kept me going. Because of you, a book I wrote will be published and put into the world. Just knowing you have my back makes me want to be a better writer, and give you something you’ll really enjoy.

On top of that, you guys raised $570 for breast cancer prevention over the last three days! I know Jeannine and all the other cancer fighters out there will appreciate it. Thanks again, and I’ll be in touch soon --

Today is the last day of the Geek & Sundry Fantasy Contest. It is currently sitting at 9th. I’d really like to stay in the Top 10, but I desperately need your help to do it. If you haven’t already, please consider supporting the book by placing a pre-order. It would mean the world to me. This is a very important moment in my life and I’d greatly appreciate you support in making it a complete success. 

The Living God has crossed the Quill Goal, but if it stays in the Top 10 it could be featured in any contest publicity, which will greatly help with marketing it. Not to mention, it would be wonderful to say that it was Top 10 among 300+ contest entries!

The Geek & Sundry fantasy contest ends on November 1st. Eek! Though Witherfist is a good 100 readers shy of reaching the top 3 - and the prize of guaranteed full publication from Inkshares - I am so thrilled and humbled by the amount of support the book has received.  While the contest is active, I want to push the book as high as possible in the top 10.  At the time of writing, Witherfist is tantalisingly close to the number 7 spot in the top 10, thanks in part to all of the new readers who have joined the campaign this week.  

I shared in a previous update some work in progress art, and now I’m happy to present the finished piece. Here is Karaben the Imperial interogator in all her glory.

Seven more readers, and we’ll be in the TOP TEN of this contest.  200 more readers by Nov 1, and SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS will get a FULL PUBLISHING and MARKETING deal! It’s a tall order you guys, but we can do it. I know we entered late, and the Internet got hacked today, but let’s show the cyber-terrorists they can’t keep us down.

Let’s keep this train rolling! As an added incentive -- anyone who purchases a pre-order in the next 36 hours will get a PERSONALIZED HAIKU written by me. All, thank you for the support. I have gotten some news that I’m waiting to see how it pans out but two media productions companies have asked about the series. One would like to submit it to Universal studio. Another is suggesting submitting a finished film to the Sundance festival. Sorry, I had to look that up and see what it was. And after looking it all up. I was like Wow! Wow, I never expected all this attention on something not published yet.  I knew it had gained stellar attention off line but I didn’t expect anyone to recommend it to a production company! I laughed to myself "I can get a film production recommendation when I can’t get an online book one."

Yes, I’m aware there are scam artists out there who will say they will make your book into a movie if you pay them large sums of money. So always do my research on such offers. 

I will let you all know how it turns out.

... One hundred, that is. ONE HUNDRED PRE-ORDERS!!

Not bad for two weeks. I can’t thank you all enough. You showed your support with your Facebook shares, and your tweets, and most importantly, your pocket books. 

As of today, there are 14 days left in the Inkshares publishing contest. I’d love to sell 200 more pre-orders by then, and make it into the top three. Is it a tall order? For sure. We entered this contest late but you guys have stepped up in amazing fashion. I think we can do it. That’s 21 orders a day. If every person who followed this book on Inkshares bought a pre-order, we’d be more than halfway there. If everyone convinced someone they know to take a look and buy a copy for their nephew, we’d be done. I would be over the moon.
