Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for Upload

Hey everyone! Time for the nightly update.

I’d like to talk to you about the origins for the technology behind Uploading. There are really two pieces of technology at play: Cloning and the Uploading itself. Cloning is well known, a technology we’re only beginning to explore here in the real world. Uploading seems to be something in our near future as well. Scientists in 2013 managed a "mind meld" between two rats, transmitting thoughts across two continents. Using computers to take one being’s thoughts and transmit them into another consciousness places it technologically adjacent to Uploading. Instead, take your thoughts and put them into storage until needed.

Those are the two technologies that are tech adjacent to the story here and which I’m using to inform the science.

We’ve hit 34 preorders, thanks in no small part to Diane, who’s one of our two readers at Commissioner level! We’re only 16 away from my releasing Chapter 2. Think we can hit that by this weekend?

You can help support the book and generate more interest by posting a recommendation both here on Inkshares as well as on Facebook or Twitter. Those small reviews definitely help.

See you all tomorrow night!

      Hi all,

A quick "just before the weekend" update:

My good friend Omer Sagiv, who’s an amazingly talented industrial/concept designer and artist (do yourself a favour and check out his stuff at http://www.omersagiv.com) has decided that the old book cover simply had to go. Even though I urged him not to (it is after-all temporary) he went ahead and designed a more "in the spirit of the novel" book cover. I personally think it turned out great - would love to hear your take on that.

By the way, this is not meant to take anything away from Dious’ gorgeous photo that will keep serving as the theme of the novel.

We are currently at 412 orders, which is an amazing number as such, but still about 10% below the optimal figure at this stage. I’ll take the opportunity and thank Auntie Ilana, who joined our forces and started actively finding me readers.
Do you have what it takes to refer readers too? top referrers will get a prize (which admittedly I don’t know what it will be yet - but it will have something to do with the novel).

In case you forgot, the next 38 orders will grant you a place in the raffle of a character named after you!!
Furthermore, if you haven’t already checked James Rasile’s excellent novel Cape’s Side Bay and Brian Fitzpatrick’s ingenious Mechcraft, then you are missing out! Both (not)incidentally are top guys that are actively helping me find readers.

I’ll part with the best weekend wishes, and the usual "this is a great day to order a Spymaster and be part of the patron list inside the book" greeting.

      All the best,

      Joni D.

Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for The Punch Escrow

Yesterday I was informed that The Punch Escrow will be the official inaugural selection for the Geek & Sundry collection on Inkshares! At this point I am still shocked that all of this is happening: That my book is getting published through Inkshares, on the Geek & Sundry imprint. I love you guys, I’ll never be able to give enough thanks for your help in making this happen.

As for the book itself, I’m still in the midst of the first rewrite, currently in the midst of the eighth chapter, The Sky Cries Martyr. In case you want a window into what that looks like, here you go:

As you can imagine, it’s a long and grueling, but living process. For example, even this screenshot is not up to date, as last night I got rid of the "eye cam" reference because it was redundant and slowed down the flow.

Don’t let my pursuit of perfection worry you though, I think I’m well on pace to deliver the rewrite to Inkshares by my August 1 deadline. Once I do that I’ll be able to share a more concrete publication timeline. I’m really looking forward to working with Inkshares and Geek & Sundry on making this book the best it can be. You guys are awesome.

        -Tal

Just focus on your project and don’t feel pressured to trade preorders. If you like a property, back it. If not, don’t.

Brian and Michelle Guthrie liked an update for Welcome to Deadland

            Hello Readers!

This is a really exciting time for both Welcome to Deadland and me! The book is in the final stages of approval (full dust jacket, internal design, eBook layout) before being sent to the printer in less than a week! I know it seems like ages ago since many of you backed Welcome to Deadland, and I want to thank you all for your patience as we’ve been working hard to get everything in place. The wait is almost over!

Some of you might have seen Inkshares’s recent tweet with a link to their properties page. The purpose of this page is to allow for book properties to be tracked so producers/publishers/etc. can see what options are still available for purchase. This can range from foreign language rights, to film/tv rights, comic book adaptations and more. Even if you’re not someone in the market looking to acquire book rights, it’s a great way to see what other formats you can expect to see your favorite Inkshares books become available in. If you click on the link above you’ll even see Welcome to Deadland  listed along with other books, and a neat surprise!

The audiobook rights have been sold to Audible! That’s right, in the near future not only will you be able to read Welcome to Deadland, but you’ll also be able to listen to it in the car, while working out, walking down the street or anywhere else!

Thank you all so much for your interest in support,

            -Zac
