Wow! We’re now at 29 copies sold (at 27 readers) and 59 followers! Let’s do some quick math. The campaign goes on for another 77 days. We’re at 11.6% of the funding goal for 250 copies (3% of the 750 goal). While it would be nice to hit 750, our hard number is 250. If three people become readers per day, we’ll hit that funding goal!

I’ve got a Facebook ad out there, which looks like it’s reached a few people. I’ve never run a FB ad before, so we’ll see if it’s of any use. If you were directed here through that ad, or if you’ve seen the ad out in the wild, let me know!

I’m continuing to work on this end. More words are tumbling from my fingertips tonight. If we can hit 50 readers by June 1st, I’ll share Chapter 2! Please get out there and share with your friends!

    J. Danielle Dorn liked an update for Cape’s Side Bay

    Hello Cape’s Side faithful!

Wow. Wow. Wow. What a weekend THAT was! We passed the coveted 250 mark of pre-orders, meaning that Cape’s Side Bay WILL be a published book!

But... that is no reason to stop. Light-publishing is an accomplishment and I couldn’t be happier about reaching it and in such a short period of time.

So now the question becomes, "can we reach 750 and full-publishing?" It will not be easy and will take a lot of work. We’ve all gotten this far, why not take Cape’s Side further? It will be published after all, so why not bring it to its full potential and achieve full-publishing?

We wouldn’t be at 250 without the help of a lot of people. Some iparticular were been critical to the success of Cape’s Side and, frankly, I doubt I would be this far without them.

Last week Ferd Crotte, author of Mission 51 sent out an update informing his followers of Cape’s Side Bay. His book is in the middle of funding and is something you should definitely check out!

Christopher Johnson’s book Seven Days Dead just became a staff pick and is an excellent zombie tale. Trust me it’s on you’re gonna want to read! He also sent an update regarding Cape’s Side.

Evan Graham, who’s book was in the Geek % Sundry contest finishing 5th, Tantalus Depths, is cruising with 84 days left, check it out and bring it to Quill!

Don’t miss out on Project Human by Tabi Card (Cape’s Side Bay cover desinger) big news coming for it soon! She has a few more Cape’s Side "tricks" up her sleeves!

Joni Dee, author of the Wolf Shall Dwell is helping me out with editing the book. The chapters uploaded are all drafts, and hopefully in the coming months I can clean them up and upload them again!

We’ve received 38 recommendations so far. Unbelievable! I’m so happy that so many of you believe in the book. It’s truly amazing.

I just want to give two final shouts out before this bloated update comes to an end! When I first posted Cape’s Side Bay as a draft from idea I had no idea how things would work out, I had no idea when I was going to go into pre-orders, but I knew I had a book written. After the first weekend I had no idea if anyone would like it, or even care about it!

Stephen Carignan (who I am sure most authors on here are familiar with!) gave Cape’s Side a fantastic review, the first review! It made me feel good about the book, and the future of it. His comments were the type I needed when setting this up. It’s easy to get lost in the shuffle of inkshares, and seeing others acknowledge your work is critical. Stephen has a book taking pre-orders now, The Sleeping Man, and it’s amazing! Check it out you will kick yourself if you don’t!

    and

Alexander Barnes, co-author of the Amaranth Chronicles: Deviant Rising, he gave Cape’s Side it’s first comment, and he said he was intrigued... and that was a big deal because, again, it peaked an interest in a reader I had never met. The Amaranth Chronicles is excellent, go for the artwork, stay for the book!

    Finally...

It takes a lot of nerve for an individual with no real fanbase to crowd fund, to ask for their money to support a project that they have no reason to believe in. All of these people and MORE (much much more, they will be given their due I promise!) helped get this book this far.

So there’s a long way to go for full-publishing still, but it’s nice to be where we are!

Keep spreading the word and let’s make this the best version of Cape’s Side Bay that we can!

    Talk soon, enjoy your day!

    James

      Hey there hexers,

I just realized that I had forgotten to share with you the Pinterest boards I’ve been working on for the characters in DHM. I have Isidore RAM completed, as well as Daxas Piers, and am starting on CRI-LUX.  It’s a fun exercise in visualizing characters that up until now have just lived in my head.

We have 193 readers for this novel so far. Can we make it to 200?

      Have a great Tuesday!

Wow, thank you all for the support. I’ve received a lot of great words of encouragement over the last few days. Tonight’s a writing night, as are all nights from here until the book is complete.

In tonight’s writing, Jonathan will be delving deeper into the tangled conspiracy behind his death.

There’s now a Facebook page for Upload. Be sure to like it for more updates!

Again, thank you for all your support!

I’m currently in the middle of a staycation here in the Orneck household. Movies, minimal cooking, discovering old restaurants made new...it’s heaven.  It’s been great to get my creative juices flowing, so I am sitting down to sneak some planning in for Chapter 8, the big set piece.

In other news, recently I wrote an article about DHM over on Game Geex that is worth reading, and I was interviewed over on The Warbler, which was amazing.

It’s Monday, a fresh week with fresh possibilities. I can’t wait to see what’s in store.

          Love,

            Greetings followers,

I’ve been told by some that these emails are annoying. Then, on other occasions, I get actual positive feedback from others who I never would have thought bothered reading it. I am all for the philosophy that people want to be bugged the least, but then again you did back a project and deserve to know where we stand. So here goes:

We are just shy of 400 pre-orders - an amazing figure, with each and every one of you to thank immensely for it!

The contest in which I’m raffling a new character bearing one of your names, is still up for grabs!! I have enough time to integrate YOU in the novel. Each order up to 450 = one entry. And don’t worry, the novel has British, Americans, Israelis and Arabs in it, so unless we have a Klingon winner (see below) - I will cope with anyone!

Most important - I have pledged 3.5$ (2£) for every order placed using this link https://www.inkshares.com/books/and-the-wolf-shall-dwell?referral_code=e5706435 towards Norwood UK charity. Norwood is an amazing charity that is helping vulnerable children, children with learning and educational disabilities, as well as their families. If we reach the next 400 orders for Norwood I would gladly top up the donation so it will be a round 1,000£.

Whether you already ordered or not, you can help Norwood by placing another order, or by donating to them directly. Some children/families aren’t as lucky as you and I - and they need our help. Also if you think someone will enjoy my book and wants his order to count towards what Norwood does - don’t hesitate to email him/her the above link.

Thanks for your time and invaluable support!!
