In the wake of her father’s death, Evie finds herself living with the ghost of her home’s original owner, Capt. Benjamin James, who died in the Civil War.
A child slips through a portal into the land of the Fae and traverses the Otherworld with the help of a young elf, while her parents are left to deal with the changeling that was left in her place.
I've been on a Western kick lately. If you're even slightly intrigued by the genre, "Eldon Quint" is worth your time. And the writing is superb, no matter your interest.
In 1883, a man is hunted for the mistakes of his brother, while a servant girl attempts to flee her lecherous master. Through pain and hardship, their paths cross unexpectedly, hurtling them toward an uncertain future.
Again, great dialogue, like it was above with Jack and Eldon. But this part tripped me up a bit. She’s calling after her, right? I don’t know if the ’tryina’ save a chicken’s life’ is needed here. It kind of lets the air back in to what would otherwise be a real suffocating threat... Maybe it’s her character... I dunno. But still. If this is the start of a grave situation, like Minn told us, it seems to end on a note of... lightheartedness (?), which I didn’t expect.
EDIT - just wanted to say, I’m going to stop reading here. The quality of the writing here has already sold me on this story. Pre-ordering NOW!
