Robert Batten liked an update for Curio Citizen

Hello all!

I hope you are having a wonderful summer. Mine has been eventful, to say the least!

I have brief news regarding Curio Citizen--my previous editor is no longer with the company, so my manuscript is now in the hands of a new editor, Sarah Nivala. I am excited to receive their feedback and will keep you all informed as the editing process goes on.

In other news, my family and I made a big change this summer. We moved halfway across the country! I am now a resident of Kansas City and loving it. After three weeks, I’m finally feeling settled, and I’ve managed to make time to write in spite of the busy move.

I’m now in the process of preparing a fresh novel manuscript for a Twitter pitch event in September. These pitch events invite authors to write a short description of their novel within Twitter’s 280-character limit (quite the challenge!). If an agent or publisher likes the pitch, they’ll click that little heart button in the tweet to request more material. I’ve had moderate success with these sorts of events in the past, so I’m hoping this one will bear fruit. Wish me luck! As always, thank you for your interest and support of my writerly aspirations!

Best,

Katherine

Robert Batten liked an update for The Seclusion

Hi everyone! This note is going out through Inkshares, specifically to backers and followers of my novel The Seclusion.

Thanks to you, The Seclusion, which has been out less than a year, has sold over 3,400 copies, is available in bookstores and libraries across the world, and was recently named a Foreword Indies Award Winner in Sci-Fi.

Pretty awesome for a crowdfunded book, yes?

Some of you are on my general mailing list, but I know that emails from third parties often get lost in the shuffle. I wanted to let all of you know that the campaign for The Seclusion Part 2 is live and more than a third of the way to its goal of 750 preorders!!!

If you have already supported - THANK YOU. If you haven’t, your support would mean the world to me and is instrumental in making the sequel a reality. Patch’s story isn’t over, and the conclusion is one I’m eager to share with you. So, please take the time to check out the campaign page.

If everyone who preordered The Seclusion participates in this campaign as well, we will reach the goal in no time and be well on the way to getting book two into your hands!

I have some great perks I’m offering to liven things up this go-around - including a free copy of book one(to keep or pass to a friend), opportunities to take part in behind-the-scenes polls on story development, and cross promotion on my twitter account and in my newsletter for other authors and artists!

If you haven’t checked out the campaign page yet, please do. If you have already preordered, can you let a SciFi, Dystopian-loving friend know? Each time someone refers a supporter, they are entered into a raffle for a $100 Airbnb gift card(unlimited entries).

So, one last time, please head on over and give it a looksie.

Thank you again for your continued support, and always know you can reach out to me directly - JacquiCastle@gmail.com

Robert Batten liked an update for Fae Child

      Dear Followers and Supporters -

I have been radio silent for quite some time, but I do have news to announce regarding the status of Fae Child.

Since the book funded in March 2017, I finished the first draft in July of that year. After that my family and I had several life changes that stole my energy and attention, including becoming small business owners and having a fourth child. The THIRD draft of the book is now underway with a few small tweaks to accomplish before I send the manuscript in to Inkshares.

At that point I will find out when they anticipate the book being published - there would be a copy edit to do and a few other miscellaneous things.

I have a cover for the book well underway with a talented artist, Aliana Wong ( www.alianawong.com ) and I have updated the cover on the Inkshares site to reflect the in progress work. I am in love with it already.

I also have had a short story accepted into an anthology which should be published later this year. Here is the link to the announcement: https://writingbloc.com/announcement-of-the-stories-and-authors-for-the-upcoming-deception-anthology/

That is all for now! I will send out another update when I am sending it off to Inkshares.

Thank you all for your support and your patience,

      Jane-Holly

Hello readers! All eBooks pre-orders should now be available! You will receive an email, and you can directly load said eBook onto your Kindle or Apple iBook device! If you didn’t get the email and you know you ordered one, let me know or email hello@Inkshares.com.

At this very moment I’m up in the Bay Area after visiting Inkshares HQ to hang out with the lovely Avalon Radys (and her puppy!) to sign all the physical pre-orders! They should be mailed to you soon.

NOW WHAT HAPPENS? While bloggers and Bookstagram have been incredibly supportive of this book, it’s up to READERS to spread the word and leave reviews! Please rate and review the book on Goodreads and Amazon once you’re finished. Both are incredibly important. I will go blue in the face stressing the importance. I wish I could climb to the top of a very high tower and ring a bell to tell you exactly HOW IMPORTANT Amazon/Goodreads reviews are. You might not be able to leave an Amazon review till the 16th, which is the actual release date.  But please do use Goodreads in the meantime!

Thanks again for everything, it was truly surreal to sign all these books this morning. I know you’ve all waited a long time and I so appreciate your patience. It’s amazing to see the results and I’m overjoyed that this story is finally finding its audience.

        Love,

        Liz

Robert Batten liked an update for Disintegration

          Dear Readers,

On Monday afternoon, the publisher declared that they would be sending the final proof of the novel to the printer. They told me that to expect physical books on July 8th.

Thank you for being with me on this journey, either actively or passively. It’s been a long road, but the destination is nearing. In fact, I just saw a post from someone I know that it’s taken 6 years for her book to come to fruition, so it made me feel a little better that mine is coming about in under 4 years. Comparison may be the thief of joy, but it can sometimes ameliorate certain anxieties.

I’ll keep you posted via this and any other avenue by which we’re connected.

          Sincerely,
          Steve

Robert Batten liked an update for The Last Faoii

            Greetings, Faoii!

I know I haven’t reached out through Inkshares for a while. If you’re not following my on Facebook, make sure to do so. There’s a lot going on, and I’m always updating progress. However, this week was so big for The Last Faoii that I felt that I HAD to reach out through this medium. It’s been an amazing couple of days.

First, our army had a booth at the Montana Renaissance Festival last weekend. We sold more than a hundred paperback copies of The Last Faoii and nearly as many audiobooks. Also, for the first time, I had copies of my first Faoii short story, "The Faoii of Ashwood" for sale (included as part of the Writing Bloc anthology Escape!). It was a wonderful weekend and I got to meet SO MANY of you face-to-face for the first time. All while looking like a dwarf! Truly my favorite event of the year.

As exciting as that was, though, Faoii, there’s no time to rest these days. This year I also had the absolute honor and privilege to attend the HEARNow! Audiobook Awards festival. That’s right! The Last Faoii was a finalist in the Fantasy category for the IAA. It was an amazing weekend filled with amazing authors and narrators (and I was more than a little starstruck by all the HUGE names that were there. Names I’d never thought I’d be in the same room with. But there we were. And you know what, Faoii? We earned that.) It was a wonderful event, and I am once again awed and humbled by the amazing capacity for creation and world building humans have. Seeing so much of it in one place was almost staggering, and I am so grateful to everyone that helped to make the audiobook as big of a success as it has been.

(Do you see that wonderful human up there? That’s the incredibly talented Inkshares author Evan Graham).

The sequel to The Last Faoii is coming along nicely, and I’m proud to say that I have a fire for it again. By now, all of you should have received your refunds from Inkshares if you pre-ordered it. Many of you reached out to make sure it was still coming-- and it is. But I’m moving away from this platform. I feel that there are better avenues for our warriors, and I mean to keep you in the loop during every step of the process.  Make sure to follow me on Facebook if you haven’t already. Who knows that the next few months will bring?

I am eternally grateful to all of you for your support thus far. I can’t wait to show you what’s yet to come.

            Shields up.

Robert Batten liked an update for Rock of Ages

June! I heard back from Inkshares. This time the Director of Marketing and the CEO read my draft and...THEY DON’T HATE IT. Haha, Yay! They like a lot of it and had loads of nice things to say. They don’t want me to change the story or structure, which is huge. They do want me to focus on character now, especially my main character, Cassidy, and continue to hone my prose, so I’m working my way through a reading list of craft books and comparable titles. Be on the lookout for a title change coming soon. A few days ago,  I went through my whole outline and added notes about what to add and change, so as soon as I finish this next book annd have a check in call with the publisher, I’ll jump into the writing. We’re getting closer!

Maybe my most exciting news is that for Mother’s Day, my husband gifted me a writing getaway, which I plan to take this summer!

Also exciting, my short story, "Rachel Rose, Semite" was accepted for publication in the new Writing Bloc Anthology.
The gist is this: A misunderstanding in kindergarten led everyone to believe Rachel Rose was Jewish. Now she’s been pretending for twelve years and is up for a college scholarship-- if she can pull off a school-wide Passover Seder. Can she fool her classmates, and the scholarship committee, one more time? Look for it in Fall 2019!

Thank you, as always, for your support!

A few of you are asking about address changes so here’s the how-to for all of you. If you’ve moved since you ordered ’My Place Among Men’ please update your address by July 20.
