Journey Over Destination

’Destination: journey’s end,’ - This isn’t a definition, but a synonym. One I found too coinciding not to quote.

For the past weeks, I’ve received tremendous support from family, friends, authors, and strangers. And honestly, I didn’t expect so many people to get behind my book. Such response... I just... well... I just want to say how honoured I am to have you, who genuinely want to see me succeed. You, who have offered you time, money, and resources, to support my dream. You, who could’ve done anything else, chosen anyone else, but decided to invest in me. Who am I to deserve this?

The journey of dream chasing has often routed along a lonely road. Many days, I rely on my own strength to keep going and to keep pursuing. Many days, I swim in the vast ocean of dreams, hoping to catch a glimpse of hope at the horizon. But those days become a memory when I see the hands reaching out and hear the voices cheering me on. Suddenly, I’m not alone anymore.

I realised that when I’m focused on the destination, the world quiets down and the streets empty out. But when I start to actively experience the journey, I begin to see those around me. Similarly, as much as Thom thinks he can save his people by himself, he would’ve never accomplished it without the support of those around him.  So thank you for being here. Your presence means a lot to me.

Now to the last hardcopy of Richard Saunder’s novel, Journey.

Congratulations Nikki Moore! Please check your email inbox.

The poster above is pretty self-explanatory. One winner, randomly chosen from ALL readers, will be announced on Sept 24th. So if you’re still on the fence, hop onto the yard! This is your last chance to take home two books for the price of one.

    Hello my Knightmares!

We are 13 days away from the end of my campaign, and we are currently sitting at 262 orders! Thirteen has always been my favorite number (see Vexed for more about my writing and the number 13) and I wanted to again THANK EVERYONE who ordered a copy of THE KNIGHTMARES. You helped make this dream come true, and as I wait for the next 13 days to expire, I am feeling a mixture of elation and relief. Thank you, again!

Remember, if you order between now and the end of the campaign, you are eligible for the free swag I am giving away. Bookmarks, posters and t-shirts!

Please check out these other authors who are nearing the end of their campaign and need your help!!

Mothering: The Game - by Regina McMenomy Ph.D. - What happens when a long time gamer becomes a first time mom? Motherhood becomes the most engaging game she’s played. MOTHERING HAS JUST 12 DAYS LEFT!!

Sunshine is Forever - by Kyle T. Cowan - A fiction novel for anyone who’s ever been depressed, or knows someone who suffers from depression. Sunshine is Forever is full of life lessons, but it is ultimately a story about a teenager learning to take responsibility for his mistakes.

The Delicate Art of Soulripping - by Sara - When you die your soul doesn’t just leave your body. There’s a process: ripping, reaping, replacing.

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Women Like Us

Hey! Long time no update. But there’s a couple of cool things I thought you might like to know about since the book was published. First up this nice interview that fellow author Michael Haase did with me for Renderosity Magazine, along with a review. The link is here, and here also is a link to Michael’s upcoming book that you should check out.

      https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-madness-of-mr-butler

Meanwhile, over at Goodreads, something like 1400 people entered a Women Like Us giveaway. The three winners were selected and books have shipped. Two went to England so, like I’ve said, this book travels more than I do (it’s also been to Cabo, and now Scotland!)

Women Like Us is on the shelves at Vroman’s in Pasadena, Book Soup and Skylight here in LA -- so cool to see it on shelves. Even better would be if they sell out!!

Lastly, a request. As some of you know, Amazon reviews can be key to selling books, and reaching certain numbers of reviews only boosts the book’s profile. So 50 reviews is one great number and 100 even better. We’re currently at 24 on Amazon so if you have read the book and haven’t left a rating/review, please do!! Here’s the link to the page to make it easy.

Ok, I think that’s it for now. Thanks everybody for the support of the book. Keep spreading the word!!

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for The Sleeping Man

        Good morning Dreamers,

Well, a dream of mine has come true, or at least is now guaranteed to come true. We’ve reached the pre-order goal and The Sleeping Man will be a real thing. I don’t have an update as to specifically when, but do know it’s happening and once I know, you’ll know. I have some work to do on the second draft, and then I’ll get some feedback. and then we’ll put this out!

As a reward to everyone, here’s some spoilers from the last chapter:

The Sleeping Man awoke from a dream, where he went on some epic journey to some Compendium or something. The lights that woke him came from outside, where he saw a spaceship land and off load a horde of pirate zombies and attractive teenage vampires. He had to do something, The Sleeping Man, or Dave (as it said on his birth certificate), ran to his closet and pulled out a modified machine gun which fired chainsaws. Noting it was surprisingly light, he selected flaming full auto mode and went outside to save the world.

The hoard turned as one, except for a zombie in the middle who tripped and is completely unrelated to the story, and started towards Dave. Dave screamed at the approaching wall of death, "Get off my plane!" and pulled the trigger.

Chainsaw after chainsaw chewed into the horde and right before he began to actually wonder how this gun was firing flaming chainsaws, the gun clicked on empty. This was it, with only half the horde taken care of, Dave was sure to die. A voice called from the sky, "It’s dangerous to go alone, take this."

Dave caught the handle of an unknown device and asked, "What is it?"

        "It’s a photon cutlass."

        "Like a lightsabe-"

"No, we don’t have the rights to that."

        "Got it."

"Stop pointing it at your face."

        "Who’s even talking right now?"

"I don’t know, the author stopped identifying the speaker."

        "My name is Emma."

"Emma please stop, I’m typing everything I"m hearing right now."

"Daddy, can I have cheesecake for breakfast?"

        "Yes."

"This is Dave, what the hell is going on?"

"Shut up, Dave. I could kill you with a thought."

        "Sorry."

"Daddy? I ate all the cheesecake."

        "Holy shit that was fast."

"This is Dave, isn’t there still a horde?"

"No, you killed them all when we were talking."

        "Neat."

        "Yup."

        "So, is that the end?"

        "Yes."

        "Cool."

        THE END

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Clash with the Immortals

          Hi everyone;

I hope you are having a lovely weekend. I’m using my last two weekends here to drum up support for "Clash with the Immortals". Which wouldn’t had made it this far without the support of people like you. I’m writing to remind you there are only 15 days left to fund and is 232 copies short of our funding goals. If you haven’t already done so, please consider pre-ordering a copy of this novel to help push it over the finish line. Share this novel and project with your family and friends! The more people who are able to help, the sooner and faster "Clash with the Immortals" will be able to enter production and end up on your bookshelf!

You know, some books are just worth trying even if they aren’t your favorite genre. I am telling the truth; this series is gaining tremendous support on the outside. Just because the orders are few here do not write it off as never being successful. I don’t know where it will go but just a few days ago I was in New York City for the city wide book convention registration to be held in 2017 and tons of people visited my table asking about this book and others when I only displayed a printout of the book covers. I know there are millions of people in NYC but a lot of times popularity starts in the real world and move to the digital world. What I’m trying to do is invite each of you to take this exciting  journey with me.

https://www.inkshares.com/books/clash-with-the-immortals Thanks and have a lovely day.

          Alma

P.S. For those who like lighter, more whimsical type of Fantasy. "The Time before time" was written a year after "Clash with the Immortals." It’s about mythical worlds predating our own world. It’s about the worlds of the Immortals.

              A new countdown has begun....

All things considered, I’m not really worried at all. This is about where we were at the 30-day mark before we lost the false pre-orders and got the extension, if I remember correctly. We’re more or less on schedule. That’s still a lot of orders to bring in, so definitely keep spreading the word!

After quite a long hiatus, I’ve resumed the Friday vlogging process! this time I talk in a little more detail about the hardships and obstacles the campaign has faced, and how I’ve worked through them. Hopefully my experience can help some of you as you deal with your own unforeseen setbacks!
