Robert Batten liked an update for Kill Creek

Happy New Year from Kill Creek!

A couple quick things: if you’ve had a chance to read the book, PLEASE take a moment to review it on Goodreads and/or Amazon.  (Hopefully) good reviews help the average rating, which is what most casual visitors glance at first when searching for new books.  Hearing that you liked it helps encourage others to check it out...and tell their friends...and tell THEIR friends...  You get the point.

Also, by now you should have received your ebook and/or paperback(s).  If you haven’t, you can contact Inkshares at hello@inkshares.com and let them know.  They’ll be happy to help you.

2017 probably wasn’t the coolest year in the history of years, but it was pretty great for Kill Creek.  Sam Reader at Barnes and Noble declared "Kill Creek is the Horror Debut of 2017."  It also made "best of 2017" lists from B&N, HorrorTalk, The Los Angeles Public Library, BiblioSanctum, as well as rave reviews from Scream Magazine and numerous online book critics.

But forget 2017, that mutha is done.  On to 2018!  Look for more exciting Kill Creek updates as well as news about a couple new projects I’m cookin’ up (more on those soon).

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season.  And remember: REVIEW THIS BOOK ON AMAZON & GOODREADS!  Please.  For real.

Best,

Scott

      12/31/17

      HELLO!

With 4.5 hours left in my funding window, I am THRILLED to update everyone and let you know: WE DID IT!

"The Devil You Don’t" has officially hit 250 pre-orders which is the threshold for Inkshares’ Quill imprint!

Thanks to all of you for your support -- not only did you pre-order copies but you shared my info, promoted it, and really helped get the word out. There are a lot of people I want to thank for going above and beyond but, honestly, I’m so tired right now, I know I’d forget someone and that would make me feel awful!

I’ll send another update after the holiday with next steps and other info, but for now, I wanted to share the good news.

Of course, Devil will still be available for orders throughout the production process, and I’ll continue to promote it but it is a great feeling to be able to talk about WHEN it will be published rather than IF it will be published.

Have a very Happy New Year!

      All the best,
      Susan

PS. And yes, since I hit my funding goal I will be doing my raffle for the Amazon card and the copies of Darkstar -- stay tuned to find out who the winners are!

        Hello everyone,

I hope you had a wonderful holiday. As promised, here is a quick update... with only a few days left in my funding window, I am a mere 9 orders away from making my funding goal and qualifying for publishing under Inkshares’ Quill imprint.

Several of you have gone the extra mile and ordered a bonus copy, and I really appreciate it.

Please continue to spread word of The Devil You Don’t far and wide -- many of the orders that have come in during the past week or so have been from referrals! Personal recommendations do make a difference and they do matter!

There are 4 days left. Let’s rock this!!

        All the best,
        Susan

Robert Batten liked an update for Curio Citizen

Happy Holidays to all of my amazing friends and supporters!

As this year comes to a close, I want to thank you all again for your generous contributions towards making Curio Citizen a reality. I also want to give you all a brief update on what’s happening in the publishing process.

As of now, I am still waiting to begin the process of editing, cover creation, and everything else that needs to happen in order to get Curio Citizen ready for bookshelves. Inkshares has many books currently in production, but I’ve heard through the grapevine that they are nearly finished with their current round of books, and after the new year will begin focusing on the next batch, which I’m happy to say, includes Curio Citizen.

I still don’t have an estimated publication date, but as promised, I will continue to give you all updates as soon as I know more. Thank you many times over for making 2017 a sparkling year in my life. Hopefully, 2018 will reward your generosity by sending a copy of Curio Citizen your way!

Much love to all and Happy New Year!

            This will be brief.

Set launch date is February 26th

Bookmarks and hand painted postcards will be delivered with the books (if I can convince Inkshares to let me piggyback).  Otherwise, they will be sent at launch.

Y’all are awesome and I have treasured your support.  If ever you need an ear or a second set of eyes, please send me a line on Facebook (Kendra Namednil) or gmail (generosity20@gmail.com).  I can hardly wait for the coming New Year!

            -- Warm thoughts always,

Robert Batten liked an update for Dax Harrison

’Twas the night before Christmas, and all of that crap
Commander Dax Harrison was caught in a trap
And SAMM hanging clueless in low-power rest
Was no help at all with their unwelcome guest

Dax woke with a daze, head ringing like a bell
Tied up on the bridge and confused as all hell
When, what to his wondering eyes should appear,
But a space pirate jackass, perusing his beer

"What the hell is this?!" Dax said in a huff
"A robbery, Commander. I’m taking your stuff."
Dax glared at the intruder and reached for his hip
And the thief gave a laugh that rang through the ship

Dax’s gun rested in a belt near his crotch
And now the rat bastard was taking his scotch!
"Come on man, it’s Christmas. I was saving that," Dax pled
"What for? Just yourself? That’s pathetic," he said

It was true, Dax was all by himself on this night
With not even a Yuletide one-night-stand found in sight
Though he’d never admit it, he felt it to the bone
For all his fame, Dax spent most Christmases alone

"What a dump!" The thief barked, and Dax took offense
To him, the ship was as home as a white picket fence
"Where’s all the shiny? All the creds? All the loot?"
"In banks," Dax laughed. "You think I stuff it in my boot?"

"Enough," said the pirate. "I’m taking your ship!"
And Dax lost all care to reply with a quip
He thought perhaps maybe the thief would see reason
What better time to try than the holiday season?

"Look, take the booze. I’ve got some to spare.
How ’bout we part ways and get out of each other’s hair?"
"How ’bout I space you?" He resolved with murderous glee
But then Dax cracked a smile. "No please, allow me."

As the thief pondered Dax’s sheer lack of defeat
The Commander watched SAMM’s startup sequence complete
"SAMM!" Dax shouted. "WE GOT A CODE BLACK!"
And he grabbed something sturdy as the thief was yanked back

Away through the airlock he flew like a flash,
As the sudden change in pressure made the whole damn ship thrash
The moon shining brightly on the jettisoned pirate’s face
Gave a small twinkling lustre in Martian colonial space

The A.I. worked swiftly and resealed the door
And Dax’s dinner settled after a brief internal war
"Commander," SAMM posed. "Have you tried making friends?
You might spend Christmas NOT dodging untimely ends."

Dax considered this a moment, but concluded instead:
"Merry Christmas, Sammy. I’m going back to bed."

Robert Batten liked an update for The Slave Prince
                2017 Round Up

As the year comes to a close, I have a few awesome announcements to make regarding The Slave Prince.

First, the book has (almost) completed copy editing! Cover design is next and I cannot wait for it to begin. It’s the best part of book production -- seeing a new, fancy cover that would soon sit on bookshelves. I’m excited!

Second, the book has a release date! May 29, 2018. Coincidentally, it’s one day before my mum’s birthday. So it’s going to be a celebratory week!

Third, feast your eyes on the map below. This world map was made by John Robin, my super author friend with undeniable talent. And if you think revealing the map is a #spoiler, it isn’t. Because... it’s not the only map in the book! There’ll be a kingdom map too!

With three awesome announcements to end 2017, I definitely have a lot to be thankful about this year.

Even though it took some time -- waiting for the book to start production -- I’m so thankful that things are falling into place. I’m thankful that you supported my book last year, and have been patiently waiting for its publication. I’m thankful for the team at Inkshares, who’re helping me better the book in every aspect. And I’m thankful for everyone who has continued to encourage me, with a desire to see my book become a success. Indeed, it’s a very merry Christmas and a happy new year for me. And I hope... it is the same for you too.

Looking forward, I believe 2018 is going to be a good year. No matter what happens -- whether I find success or don’t -- it’s still going to be better than 2017. So please remain seated -- the ride isn’t over.

Till my next update, have a merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a wonderful new year!

Robert Batten liked an update for The Last Faoii

                  Greetings, Faoii!

First and foremost, Faoii, I want to thank you all for such an amazing year. So much has happened and changed during 2017 that I can’t even begin to recap it here. But you know what you’ve done to help me succeed--to help me keep going even when I didn’t think I could anymore. Now The Last Faoii is a real book and is in many of your hands. We’ve sold 387 copies according to Inkshares, and we’ve hit 30 reviews on Amazon. I can’t even believe it. A year ago, I didn’t think I’d ever see this book be real, and now I nearly cry just thinking about how far we’ve come.

If you celebrate any sort of holiday around this time-- whether it be the Solstice, Yule, Christmas, or something else-- or even if you don’t celebrate anything at all, I hope that you find joy and beauty in your life and those you’ve surrounded yourself with. Because the world is beautiful, and you’ve helped me to achieve something magnificent-- I hope your own dreams prove to be as attainable.

Keep those shields up, Faoii. I love you all.

                  Faoii-Tahani

Here’s a look at what you’ve made possible. Thank you again.

Robert Batten liked an update for Mushroom and Anchovy

                    Greetings, Adventurers!

It’s been awhile since you’ve heard from me, hasn’t it? Let’s recap:

                    - Sept. 9th we hit our funding goal and Mushroom and Anchovy was greenlit!

                    - You haven’t heard from me since (oops).

In the interest of transparency, I’ll be honest with you all: I have not yet submitted the manuscript to Inkshares as of yet, and there are a few reasons for this.

                    1. Mushroom and Anchovy needed a great deal more work than previously thought.

Especially part 3. My god. Obviously, I don’t want to sell you an awful book. While I’m sure the fine folks at Inkshares wouldn’t allow it to be delivered to you in such a state, I want to at least make their work a bit easier and give them something worth editing. Because... yikes.

                    2. November was the hardest month this year for me.

I’m not going to lie: I had a pretty difficult autumn and it has taken its toll. The winter solstice yesterday left me with some hope for the next season, which is great, because from the fall equinox til just a couple weeks ago has been brutal. I also got another part-time job and have spent much of my time lately managing my family’s rapidly changing schedule.

                    3. I’m still a bit burnt out from the campaign.

If you follow my social media accounts, particularly my Facebook page, you’ll likely notice some radio silence. I really haven’t been doing much. I haven’t even worked on my blog. It’s been a very introspective time for me, and outside of work, I haven’t been very social, either. The campaign was like a full-time job, and even though it ended three(?!) months ago already, it still feels like yesterday.

I had hoped to have the manuscript sent in by October 31st, but that simply did not happen due to all the factors mentioned, and a few more. I am still actively working on it, day by day, and my new date for completion is January 31st. It is my hope that Mushroom and Anchovy will be under Christmas trees across North America for 2018, and while I have no way of guaranteeing that, I’ll do my utmost to make it so.

Also in the interest of transparency, I want to mention that I do not have your money. Unlike Kickstarter and other crowdfunding sites, Inkshares does not send the money to the creators; the company uses it 100% for production. If you’re worried about my silence, please do not be. I am incapable of taking the money and running!

I do apologise for these delays, as I had hoped they wouldn’t happen. I am, however, only human. It is my sincere hope that the next time you hear from me, it will be to inform you all that the manuscript is in Inkshares’ hands.

Thank you for being patient with the process, and, as always, thank you for your unwavering support! The happiest of holidays to all of you, whatever you celebrate, and I will talk to you all in 2018.

If you have any questions or concerns at all about Mushroom and Anchovy or the campaign itself, please get in contact with me ASAP so I can put your mind at ease.

May your adventures be fraught with wonder and just enough peril to keep them interesting,

                    K. M. Cooper
