Craig A. Munro liked an update for Lucky

To my amazing and wonderful readers,

I wanted to drop a line to let you know we’re still here. I am working through some final notes on Lucky before sending it to the publisher. That irritating thing called "real life" (and "job" and "bills") has been keeping me from working as quickly as I would like. Your patience and endurance through this process is more than any author could ask for.

Stay tuned - more updates are coming down the line!

Craig A. Munro liked an update for Murder at the Veterans’ Club

    Dear friends and followers,

It’s been a very long time since my last update. My apologies for that. On the book front, we’re now in developmental edits ... basically arguing with an editor over just how much of the novel needs to be rewritten from the ground up. A couple of chapters are going to be juggled around, but I should probably not say too much beyond that. We’re at a point where Change is an unchanging fact of life.

For most of the past year as well, I’ve been buried neck-deep in writing something else: "The Hero Unmasked!", a CYOA-style game for Choice Of Games.

It’s a superhero story, as you might have guessed, and very different from "Murder at the Veterans’ Club". The game was just released on Steam, Apple, and Android last Thursday, and I’ve pretty much spent the past couple of days grinning madly as the reviews roll in.

Is there anything else of note? Yes.

Landon Crutcher, author of "Monkey Business", has begun his campaign for "Black Cloud". I remember enjoying "Monkey Business", and I expect "Black Cloud" to be an even better outing. Crutcher’s writing this time about something he knows intimately from his work, and that always adds a certain special something. Like James Herriot writing about veterinary practice.

Ryan Smith has decided to publish his novel, "Goodbye, Angel", via Amazon instead. I’ve purchased it and read it, and I’ve found it an engrossing and enjoyable read, especially if you love the "hard-boiled" detective genre. I’ve recommended this before, and I continue to say ... Highly Recommended.

Until next time, being aware that "next time" could be A Long Time Off ... have fun, and keep reading.

Craig A. Munro sent an update for The Bones of the Past
Time flies. It’s already been two months since The Bones of the Past officially launched. It’s been an insane ride filled with blog posts like this one on Epic Fantasy Writer; interviews like this one from Geeks Media and this one from Alicia Smock; not to mention some great reviews– The Hardcover Life, RobertBatten.net, and WordoftheNerdOnline stand out in particular, as well as the Midwestern Book Review and Roll Out Reviews.

My not-so-little book has already made it farther than I ever could have dreamed, and it’s still surreal to walk into a bookstore and see it on the shelf. More great things are still on the way too - Audible will be creating an audiobook version at some point in the (hopefully near) future, bookstores continue to welcome me in for signings (next one is Chapters South Keys 11:00 to 15:00 on August 19th!) and stores are stocking and, more importantly, RE-stocking my book!

With all this happening, I’m still finding time to work on the sequel and the final book of the trilogy, and I can promise that they’re going to be bigger and better than ever 😊

The most important thing in the meantime is to keep the momentum going, and for that I need reviews. Book reviews (even negative ones!) make a massive difference in book sales and they are the single most important factor in keeping this crazy ride going. The reviews don’t have to be long or complicated, just take a few minutes to write out what you liked (or didn’t) - a single sentence will do!
The goal is to get 100 reviews on Goodreads and Amazon (Barnes and Noble and Indigo are also good!). Reviews are starting to trickle in as people make it through the 500-odd pages, but there’s a long way to go to get to 100. So, if you’ve had a chance to finish Bones, please take a few minutes to write a quick review on any one of these sites:

      Amazon http://amzn.to/2triUX4
      Goodreads http://bit.ly/2rgbe6T
      Indigo http://bit.ly/2shV0JE
      Barnes and Noble http://bit.ly/2qwbVM0

If you feel particularly generous – please copy and paste your review to several of them, or even all four!

Thank you all yet again – I could not have done this without your support!

Craig A. Munro liked an update for Black Cloud

        Hey Guys and Gals!

        So in case you missed my first update, Black Cloud is now taking pre-orders! Hooray! So if you haven’t done so, please pre-order a copy. And here’s what I’m offering as a thank you;

If you pre-order Black Cloud during this funding campaign I will email you a FREE download link for an audiobook of my first novel, Monkey Business!
The whole novel, unabridged, performed by me. It’s a funny book. You’ll get the giggles. The best part is you get the audiobook now! You don’t have to wait. And you get to keep it whether Black Cloud funds or not.

So if you want you can think of it as ordering an audiobook now and getting a bonus second book later. Win/win situation here people.

So please check out the Black Cloud project page to see the promo video, which features a reading of the first chapter. I hope you enjoy it, I hope you’ll pre-order a copy and I hope you’ll share it with your peoples.

        Thanks! Landon

Craig A. Munro liked an update for Women Like Us

Good morning and Happy Anniversary to Women Like Us, because today is one year since Pub Day!

Here’s a look back at me holding the book for the very first time. I still pick it up, leaf through it and find it amazing that it actually exists.

A lot happened around this little book in the past year. Here are a few of my favorite things.

It made it into the top 100 of its top sub-genre on Amazon (still pushing to get it into the top 10, though).

Some nice folks did interviews with me about the book. Here’s a couple, in case ya missed them.

Also, the book made The Malibu Times!! This may not seem like a big deal, but we lived in Malibu for a short while, and First Point Malibu is still a favorite surf spot, so it just makes me smile. Here it is--

We’ve given away many signed copies on Goodreads (a favorite thing to do...in fact one is going on now so go over to Goodreads so check it out) and given some away to our nearby free Local Libraries too.

          p

The push to the thousand mark in print and ebook sales is getting slowly closer. That was always a sort of goal on this book but, you know, if we go well into the thousands that’s good too. Don’t stop spreading the word, people! Sales happen when marketing happens but reviews are still so vitally important. If you’ve read and not reviewed, please leave a few words on Amazon (remember I still donate 10% of my royalties to the Beagle Freedom Project so helping with sales helps free more beagles). Remember you don’t have to say anything more than "Great book" (or "Crappy Book" works but we prefer great). Here’s the Amazon link--

Meanwhile, the biggest recent news is that an audio version of the book is in production right now!! It’s being narrated by a wonderful voiceover actor, Yolande Clark. I’ve heard the first 15 minutes and it’s amazing. The audible version should be available around September. Stay tuned.

Finally, just to demonstrate how it’s not all sunshine and daffodils, in doing some research for this post I came across this really not nice review on some blog...ouch!!

You gotta take the good with the bad, huh?

Thanks all for the support. Seriously.  And Happy One Year Since Pub Day Women Like Us!

Craig A. Munro liked an update for Dax Harrison

            Hey there readers!

Well, I said I’d have some updates coming for you soon. So guess what? I got updates. :)

If you haven’t already spotted me plastering these all over social media today, here are some progress photos of the artwork for the book!

These come courtesy of the artist, Jessica R. Van Hulle, who is in fact creating AN ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING for the book cover! Why? A) Because she is fantastic, and B) Because I am a crazy person and decided "go big or go home". She is without a doubt creating something that truly captures the old-school fanciful sci-fi spirit that I hoped for with Dax. Can’t wait to see the final piece! You can check out more of Jessica’s work at theladyjessica.com.

Also, while we still do not have an exact publishing date for the book, the editing team says we may likely be looking at sometime in October. I will keep you all posted as soon as I have more to share.

            Until next time!

Craig A. Munro liked an update for The Last Faoii

              Quick Update, Faoii! Listen Up!

Things have been moving along smoothly, and I am absolutely ecstatic about the results. The design pour, the edits, the new cover... it’s all beautiful. (Once again, A giant Thank-You to Evan Graham, who made the cover spectacular. Definitely check out his page, Faoii!)

We’re just waiting on the final proofread, now, and my newest missive from Reedsy held some interesting information. Apparently, traditional publishers have control of any formatting issues and other so-called "micro decisions" in a novel’s final edits. However, my editor seemed genuinely surprised to find out that those decisions were actually in my hands (Admittedly, I was surprised to learn this too, Faoii) and will be sending me the final proofread within the next few days. I am not yet sure what these "micro decisions" entail, nor do I know why traditional publishers deal with these themselves instead of giving them to the author, but I am incredibly excited and pleased to have that much control over this project we’ve been working on for so many years. We’re getting close to the end now, Faoii, and I’m going to keep working on giving you the best damned book I can. Just keep fighting bit longer, we’ve got this.

Don’t forget-- the current battle is won, but we can always use more soldiers for the next wave that’s coming soon. Tell your friends and other potential Faoii about our war. Let them pick up their own blade and join the choir. They’ll thank you in a few months when this book is in their hands.

That’s it for now. Shields up!

              Faoii-Tahani

Craig A. Munro liked an update for Sorcery for Beginners

                Friends, Readers, and Sorcerers All,

This week has been a bit of an emotional roller coaster. First, Sorcery for Beginners was placed on NetGalley to solicit reviews. For those who don’t know, NetGalley is a website that gives out books to influential reviewers and readers for free, in exchange for honest opinions. Good reviews lead to positive word of mouth, which hopefully leads to sales.

So basically, my little word baby that I nurtured for five years and tried to raise as a decent manuscript has just been dropped in the middle of Times Square on a sweltering afternoon in July. Was I worried how people would respond to my earnest, adorably doe-eyed creation? It’s the Internet, you bet I was worried.

But then a few hours later, less than 24 hours that the book went live on NetGalley, the Inkshares marketing department sent me this:

Amanda Scheel (Reviewer) has just reviewed Sorcery for Beginners. To add this review to the book page on NetGalley, click here:
                https://www.netgalley.com/book/118069/review/418228

I got this ebook arc copy for free from netgalley and I must say this is absolutely amazing! Fell into the world of magic and after reading this book, I didn’t want to put it down, even when I reached the last word. Such an incredible book, any Harry Potter fan will fall in love all over again!

Additional Questions:Would you purchase this book for yourself or a friend? Yes

WOW. Amanda, I can’t thank you enough. I know all the reviews won’t be this awesome, but these words mean a great deal to me. The fact that someone I don’t know enjoyed the book and finished it in ONE DAY is humbling and gratifying. As they say in E.T., I’m glad Sorcery for Beginners met you first.

Oh, and something else came in the mail yesterday:

For the first time, I held Sorcery for Beginners in my hand! My first reaction was how weighty the book is. It has heft, y’all. I think it could stop a bullet.

We have a couple more tweaks before we send the final final version to the printer, but this thing is real. It is coming your way. And no matter what kinds of other reviews come in, we’re already bulletproof.

Craig A. Munro liked an update for Monkey Business

Hello Monkeys! Great things are happening!

I’m going to tell you two really cool things right now and I will expand on them below:

                  1. My new novel, Black Cloud is now available for pre-order. So please do that.

                  2. Everyone you who pre-orders Black Cloud will get an audiobook of Monkey Business preformed by me. That’s right. I will send you a download link when you buy Black Cloud. No waiting, no strings. Monkey Business straight into your ear holes.

If that’s all you need to hear, then great. Stop reading, go buy Black Cloud and I’ll send you an audiobook. Nice doing business with you. If you would like me to pitch you a little bit more, I’m happy to do that. Let me tell you why this is a really, really good deal. You can pre-order a Black Cloud audiobook for $10 and I will give you an audiobook of Monkey Business. I would rather you spend $20 to get a printed, signed copy of Black Cloud AND a Monkey Business audiobook but that’s up to you. If you want to look at it the other way around: you are paying $10 (or $20) for an hilarious, audiobook AND you will probably receive a new ebook in the future. The worst case scenario is that Black Cloud doesn’t reach its funding goal in which case, you will get your money back and YOU WILL HAVE GOTTEN A FREE MONKEY BUSINESS AUDIOBOOK.

You literally cannot lose. It’s not possible to lose in this scenario. You will get at least one book and you’ll probably get two.

A few fun things about Monkey Business. If you’ve been a follower of the book but haven’t bought it or haven’t read it, this really is the way to go. It’s a book that was written to be performed. I really think you’ll enjoy hearing it because I really enjoyed preforming it. Also, Monkey Business currently has 80 reviews on Amazon with an average 4.5 star rating. It has consistently been in the top 1% of Kindle Action & Adventure books for the past 6 months. What I’m getting at here is I’m giving you a good book, you’re going to enjoy it.

As for the new book, Black Cloud, it’s not at all like Monkey Business and I think you’ll enjoy it as well. But don’t take my word for it, if you visit the project page you can hear the entire first chapter read by me. Just play the video on the project page and check it out.

Of, if you prefer, you can go directly to a sample chapter on YouTube. Just the sample chapter with no b.s.

That’s all for now. Thanks for reading. I hope you’ll support the new book. I will be very grateful and I’ll be happy to send you the hilarious, naughty, low-brow fun of a Monkey Business audiobook.

Craig A. Munro liked an update for Arch-Android

                    My dear androids and gynoids,

                    Thank you.

Thank you for following this project and thank you for pre-ordering if you already have.

We had a really strong start because of you. It’s been almost too good. Made me lazy. But I’m getting back on the horse. I don’t want to pester you, but I need you on my team.

Now, I get it, there’s so much time left! No hurry, right? You can get to it later. But there’s a few reasons why maybe you shouldn’t?

You all live busy lives and as the months fall off like so many cartoon calendar pages the deadline might slip by you.

                    1. The faster we get to ’funded’, the less stress in my life and the less begging I have to do.
                    2. If this gets funded fast enough and with sufficient enthusiasm, we can look forward to a swift production schedule and an earlier release date!
                    3. And remember, if you pre-order and if you refer others, you are automatically entered to win a brand new KOBO eBook reader with original art on the back!

Sentients, the bottom line is that I need your help. I need you to be my army of ambassadors and to go forth across the known galaxy (y’know... Earth) and spread the word about Arch-Android. I can only reach so many people and yes, if every single one of you got one book we’d be all set instantly, but that’s not how the space station spins.

Thank you for your support so far and thank you for any help you bring in the future. I will be thinking up and adding more rewards and goodies as the months go by.

                    Let’s make this book happen!
