Michael Ostrowski liked an update for Eudaimonia

Well, folks, the time is nigh!

I have heard from a reliable little birdie that the e-books for Eudaimonia will be pushed out about two weeks ahead of the publication date. For those of you not counting, that could be as soon as Tuesday 10/25!  It sounds like the print books will be shipped the first week of November.

So, make sure your mailing and email addresses are updated!

Sign in to Inkshares, click your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen, and select "Shipping Address" from the dropdown menu. You can email the fine folks at: hello@Inkshares.com  if you have any questions.

Your pal,

Meghan Godwin

Michael Ostrowski liked an update for Mushroom and Anchovy

    Greetings, adventurers.

I come to you today with perhaps the most exciting promise of treasure of all: an update.

Much like the feeling one has when dropping their child off at a new babysitter for the first time, I write to you with hope and apprehension today. Because Mushroom and Anchovy’s most recent manuscript has been sent off to Inkshares to undergo copyediting.

I’m not sure what this expressly means for our timeline, but the facts we have right now are thus:

    1. Mushroom and Anchovy is currently sent in for copyediting.

    2. This has never happened before.

We can, by means of logic and reason, now deduce thusly: the ball is finally rolling to get these books into your hands.

It’s been a long time coming, and I’m so excited to finally be able to share this wacky tale with you all!

I’ll contact you again when I have more news. But, for now, please know that the book is in progress. My biggest wish now is for it to be worthy of such a wait. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding!

In the meantime, I’m going to be looking into getting us a new artist and cover!

May your travels be fraught with wonder and just enough peril to keep them interesting,

    K. M. Cooper

Michael Ostrowski liked an update for Showtime

      Hey everyone,

I’m temporarily pausing my search for the elusive pumpkin spice Belvita to pop in with a few exciting Showtime updates. For one, after combating delays related to pandemics, printer shutdowns, re-writes, active volcanoes, and swarms of locusts, Showtime will officially be released into the wild (and your hands) on December 6, 2022! For those of you who aren’t mathematically inclined (don’t worry, I’m right there with you), that’s less than two months from today. Zoinks, Scoob!

I can think of no better way to celebrate than by debuting the official cover. With its present-day character juxtaposed with an outdated TV, old wallpaper, and green tint, it has one foot firmly planted in the present and one in the 1970s, something that Jordan Jones might know a little about. I think it perfectly captures the flavor of the book (not to mention looking pretty snazzy).

If you were unable to sleep last night because you were stuck in an endless thought spiral while thinking, Jeeze, I wish I could read some of the final copy of Showtime RIGHT NOW!, you’re in luck! Wicked Horror is running an exclusive excerpt that can be found here: Here’s Your First Look at the Cover Art from Ricky Ruszin’s Novel ‘Showtime’ [Exclusive]

A quick note about pre-orders: If you already pre-ordered a copy of Showtime (first, pat yourself on the back and have a cookie), you’ll be receiving your copies on time. However, if you pre-ordered an eBook copy, you’ll be receiving it 2 weeks before the official release date. The reasoning behind this is to give digital readers a chunk of time to read the book and post reviews on Amazon and Goodreads so we have a head start on press for release day.

That’s all for now, but more good things ahead!

      Ricky

Michael Ostrowski liked an update for WILD CONVICTION

Dear Supporters and Readers of Wild Conviction,

As you know, I submitted revisions to the Inkshares Editorial Team late in March of this year. I have been, as I know many of you have been, eagerly awaiting an update on the publishing timeline.

Yesterday I received an update from the Editorial Team, but it was not the update I was anticipating. The Inkshares Editorial Team has decided not to publish Wild Conviction. Their email stated the reason as: “While we understand the story’s thematic relevance in today’s America, our feeling is that there remains a significant gulf still between the story you wish to write and the story that we believe will find a large enough audience in today’s publishing climate.”

I respect their decision and reason. And I am thankful for the time I have spent as an aspiring Inkshares author.

I have met so many great authors with Inkshares, and I have communicated with amazing, wonderful people—you, the readers and supporters of Wild Conviction—in the process of the pre-order campaign and the 2020 All-Genre Manuscript contest.

I am grateful to Inkshares for these opportunities to build community.

Wild Conviction is still the recipient of these honors:

        • Inkshares Staff Syndicate Pick, July 2020
        • Inkshares Break the Bechdel with Strong Female Characters Syndicate Pick, October 2020
        • Inkshares 2020 All-Genre Manuscript Contest 3rd Place Winner, announced February 28, 2021

Thank you, readers and supporters of Wild Conviction. You made its winning of the 2020 All-Genre Manuscript Content happen!

As well, so many of you worked hard and spent much of your time, as I did, to reach out to your friends and family to get the pre-orders with Inkshares, of which there are 276! Your dedication, time, energy, engagement and pre-orders to help me succeed as a published novelist is the loveliest honor I know. I am so grateful.

        Moving forward:

        • Those who have pre-ordered will be receiving a refund from Inkshares.

        • I will begin work immediately to independently publish Wild Conviction.

        • From all of your support and your questions about when you might get to read this story, I know you believe in this novel, as I do, so...

        • I hope that you will want to, once again, order Wild Conviction—this time by working directly with me—and that you will be reading it soon!

You all have been fabulous during the pre-order campaign, the contest, and awaiting publication news with me. What a great ride it has been, and the ride continues!

If you do not already subscribe to my newsletter, I hope that you will subscribe now, so that I can continue to be in contact with you about the new progress to publication for Wild Conviction. You can subscribe at the bottom of any page of my website: MaryDezember.com

        Onward and upward.
        In gratitude,
        Mary & Twilight

Michael Ostrowski liked an update for Tantalus Depths
My friends, the time has finally come. Ten long years ago, I started work on a story; a simple dark science fiction story about a woman named Mary, an AI named SCARAB, and a world of ancient alien mysteries called Tantalus 13. It was the first book I ever wrote that truly seemed worthy of publication, and in 2016 I managed, with a ton of hard work and support from many amazing friends, to secure a publication deal.

The next six years saw me locked in a seemingly endless cycle of edits. These edits were challenging to get through, but in the best possible ways, as each saw huge improvements in my book and my skills as a writer. Though the delay often seemed interminable, hard work, patience, and perseverance saw us through to where we are now.

Today, Tantalus Depths is published. Bookstores worldwide now carry a book I wrote. My story, my words, can now be read by anyone anywhere. I have an audiobook, narrated by Andi Arndt: one of the most talented narrators I’ve ever heard. She has miraculously captured every minute detail of every scene and character in her voice with such beautiful precision that it feels as if she read the story directly out of my mind instead of a script.
Yesterday, I stood on a stage at my alma mater, the university where I wrote the very first draft of Tantalus Depths. I was introduced by Dr. Bowles, the professor who taught me so much about the craft of writing and guided me throughout Tantalus Depths’ creation, to a crowd of dedicated friends and supporters and intrigued newcomers. I read my own words to an auditorium of people who had come specifically to see me. I took photo ops and signed books, just like a real, published author.

          Because I am one.

Today, a dream I’ve held in my heart since I was a child has been well and truly fulfilled. I am Evan Graham: published author. And this is only the beginning.

Michael Ostrowski liked an update for Eudaimonia

Y’all, it is cranking up! I’m not sure if you can hear it, but there is a faint click-click-clicking sound in the background. Like the sound a roller coaster makes before you crest the first big drop. That is where we are on this publishing journey, the slow-clicking accent before the thrilling drop on the publication date.

Eudaimonia’s publication date is Tuesday, November 8th. It is now listed (for pre-order) on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. And you can add it to your "want to read" list in GoodReads.

Eudaimonia is also listed on IndieBound, which is a website that directs you to independent local bookstores near you. There is a link on IndieBound where you can purchase a book online through "Bookshop." If you want to buy Eudaimonia in a local bookstore, request it. Independent bookstores are small businesses and books are their inventory. They generally keep on hand what they know will sell and monitor requests to see if there is something else they should start carrying.

So, Meghan, what about us? The folks who pre-ordered?

Let’s get your addresses updated at Inkshares! It has been nearly five years since we started this adventure and some things are bound to have changed.

Head over to: www.inkshares.com and log in. If you have forgotten your password, just click "forgot password" to reset it. In the right-hand corner go to account -->;;;;;; shipping addresses. If you run into any trouble, you can email Inkshares for help: hello@inkshares.com

While you are in your Inkshares account, double-check your purchase (an e-book, a paperback book, or both. I am hoping that the e-books and paperbacks will be ready sometime in October.

Part of the fun of being a pre-order backer is that you get your book before anyone else!

If you originally ordered an e-book but now want to order a paperback, you can do so in your Inkshares account (or any of the other places listed above). Again, any questions or issues please reach out to Inkshares directly for help: hello@inkshares.com

              COVER ART!!!

I’m just going to get right to it and then gush. Behold-

Any hair stylist will tell you that finishing is key. You can cut the best haircut of your whole life, but if you don’t style it well when you are done, bleh, game over. I think the same holds true with writing. And, let me tell you, Eudaimonia has been styled!

Tim Barber (of Dissect Designs) has captured the darkly feminine and unsettling tone perfectly. PERFECTLY. I can’t tell you how excited I was when I saw this.

IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING I HAVE EVER SEEN.

I have no news or updates yet on when my novel will be published and in your hands, but I do have this great news!

DEZEMBER ALL YEAR LONG WITH WILD CONVICTION: A Review by T. A. Niles

“When you preorder Mary Dezember’s Wild Conviction and participate in her efforts to promote the book, you never know what you’re going to get. But as with most things Mary, you do know you’re likely to get more than you normally would from just about anyone else.I was a lucky recipient of quite the package some days ago, and while you have to do a few things—participate in the novel’s promotional activities—to be the recipient of such a package, it was far more than I expected.”

And, remember, anyone who pre-orders can receive GrandMama’s letter, which is also Chapter 3, and other gifts (with the number of pre-orders). Please know that I am behind on getting some of the letters printed and sent, but I plan to catch up by the end of July.

Michael Ostrowski liked an update for Eudaimonia

A couple of weeks ago I received this email:

To say that I was ecstatic would be an understatement. I know that emails and PDFs are sort of a run-of-the-mill occurrence so why would I get SO excited about this one? Let me explain...over the last four years I have traded many Word documents with the folks at Inkshares. And everyone is familiar with how text looks in a Word doc. But when a Word doc becomes a book it undergoes a transformation. A typesetter takes that Word doc and manipulates it into a format that makes it suitable for publishing. I will repeat that last part for emphasis, SUITABLE FOR PUBLISHING.

That is right, friends! We are nearly there, almost to the goal line of an actual. published. book.

And, while this isn’t "final final" it is super gratifying to be at a place where I can glimpse this:

I mean, that is pretty cool, isn’t it?

So, Meghan, what does this mean for us? The folks who pre-ordered?

Let’s get your addresses updated at Inkshares. Head over to: www.inkshares.com and log in. If you have forgotten your password, just click "forgot password" to re-set it. When can we expect it?

I have been told "possibly" the end of August. But this is not a firm date. I will keep you posted as things progress. But, rest assured, all my pre-order folks with get their copy first. No cuts, no buts.

                  Your friend,

Michael Ostrowski liked an update for Mushroom and Anchovy

                    Greetings, adventurers!

It’s been nearly a year since the last time I’ve managed to get a missive and an update out for you. I’m sorry for this. When I was given the timeline of early 2022, I thought I’d wait until I received news. Now, obviously, I did state that the date could change, as did Inkshares, so when the proposed editing and release dates sailed quietly by with no news, I wasn’t terribly shocked.

So, perhaps predictably, I come to you today with no updates.
I was very briefly in contact with Inkshares back in February but they are still a fair bit behind and still have a few more books to launch ahead of mine. We are in the exact same position we were at the advent of the pandemic, with maybe the line having moved just a touch. Between the pandemic shutdowns and paper shortage, I’m afraid the standstill is likely to last for at least another year and possibly longer than that.

While I will continue to wait for now, I will admit that I am beginning to explore other options. I don’t have a timeline for this at the moment, but you can bet you’ll hear about it if it’s the direction I decide to take. I will be whittling away at a plan B and hope we hear from Inkshares in the meantime. If you would like to follow any of my other content platforms for outside updates, I’d like to invite you to take a peek at my Linktree or join my Discord. I’m a content creator, so I’m always working away at something.

That’s all for now. I’m deeply sorry it’s not better news and wish it was. Nobody wants this book in your hands more than I do!

May your travels be fraught with wonder and just enough peril to keep them interesting,
