Alex Weston liked an update for She Is the End
Shhh, guys, listen: I’m not supposed to be updating you on anything.

The fantastic and notably gorgeous Leah Westra, my promoter friend, is making me editing progress update graphs and posting them on my facebook page HERE (please like if you are inclined), and I’m writing a little log about my progress which I’ll be sharing soon... but other than that, I’m supposed to be mum.

BUT!!!

There’s a new Nerdist contest running RIGHT NOW and it’s SPACE OPERA THEMED!!!

So, welcome to all my new followers; I love you each individually and as a group, and I wish you nothing but success. I wish I could just buy 750 copies of each of your books, but that wouldn’t be building an audience, would it???

I can help by recommending some of these books, though!

Rogue by Allison Darhun - A young fighter pilot is faced with a decision that will change not only her life, but the lives of billions.

What is this one about? "...obviously science fiction, a strong female character, an entirely new world that is still somewhat recognizable, a lil bit of romance (but one that definitely doesn’t take over the plot because no one wants that), a pretty snazzy escape attempt, rad friendships, and parallels to things happening today," according to the author.

A snazzy! Escape! Attempt! Rad friendships! Parallels! I die, I die, I die! GIVE ME THIS BOOK.

They Are the Last by Elayna Mae Darcy - All Piper wanted was to escape the tortures of Edgemont, but when her godmother returns to rescue her, she finds herself on an epic journey to master her Light and save the world she comes from, that she never knew existed.

It’s a YA space opera with a, shall we say, admirable title? We need more love for YA on Inkshares!

Infinity Mind by Patrick Jamison - Slave to an oppressive government on a Martian colony, Mason, a telepathic assassin, must break his conditioning before he murders his wife.

I’m a sucker for anything set on Mars, and I’m a sucker for rebels fighting oppressive governments, OKAY? I know what I’m about.

Consider ordering one of these books, my dear friends, and you might make an author’s dreams come true.

NOW BACK TO WORK!

:)

Hello, friends new and old! I didn't send an update last week because I'm trying to finish editing my book (yikes) and it is a slow (gosh) and steady (sheesh) process (no).  It's going to be great! (SOB SOB.)

I keep accidentally offering to help with other stuff, though. It's a great way to procrastinate! (ARGH!)

FIRST, I will now raffle off the original panel for the graphic novel page I'm doing for Amanda Orneck's Deus Hex Machina...

    The winner is....

    Matt Kaye! Congratulations!

SECOND, you need to all watch Amanda's promo video for DHM because there's an ALTERNATE REALITY GAME you HAVE TO PLAY. It is SO FUN, and by fun I mean super-frustrating but very satisfying to finish. Joe Terzieva and I worked on it separately, then when we both got stuck we worked on it together for part of a day and we FIGURED IT OUT!

You have to follow the clues and search through the shadowy reaches of the internet to save a scientist who has been sucked into the Grid!!! Go! DO IT!

THIRD, I joined a syndicate! Janna Grace created one for Strong Female Characters (strongly-written characters, not just tough characters, of course) and you know how much I love those. I just had to join. Check it out!!

FOURTH, if you are interested in any sort of, shall we say, tabletop gaming... stay tuned. John Robin, Joe Terzieva and I are working on something for Blood Dawn that you might want to be a part of....

FIFTH, JF Dubeau's The Life Engineered is being released March 1st!! If you haven't bought his book yet, that's actually a good thing - because we're doing an Amazon order drive on the day of the launch! This will hopefully get his book to debut on a top 10 list and get him more exposure, which is always good.

His book has already been mentioned on io9.com and it's getting really good reviews, so if you like robots, give it a chance and ORDER IT ON MARCH 1st!

SIXTH, AND FINALLY, I am going into deep editing mode for the next month. I will be doing little "Writer's Log" updates periodically, but otherwise I'll be going internet-silent until I finish my manuscript.

    (We'll see how that goes.)

      My campaign is over!

      IN PRODUCTION!

Now... I just need to make sure my book is the best book ever to book, don't I?

SO! Most of the manuscript is done, but there are some rather... wobbly parts. January and February are going to be hardcore #amwriting months, and I'm aiming to be done with my final, FINAL edits by February 29th. Leap Day!

Thank you so much, everyone who has helped me get through this campaign.

Thank you to the other half of my heart, Alex, without whom I'd be adrift.

Thank you to John Robin and Joe Terzieva, who have helped me keep my head on straight through all the craziness.

Thank you to Matt Kaye, Avalon Radys, Jeremy Thomas, and Thad Woodman at Inkshares, who have been so supportive and encouraging.

Thank you, my readers. You are taking a chance on me, and I'm not going to let you down.

        STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

It was... no. I need to do a separate post on Star Wars. This is no time for sentimentality. I have a rebellion - I mean, a Review-a-Thon to lead.

        For now:

It's tomorrow, the thing is tomorrow! Ahh! It's gonna be so fun.

Here's the youtube link you can use to view the livestream:

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pSOpnFYGMM

And John Robin has a message for you about the author-exclusive prizes:

Since many of you are also writers, I wanted to send this out today to highlight the author-exclusive prizes we have for the inaugural review-a-thon tomorrow. (Readers, be sure to join us too -- there are great prizes for you as well, as you'll see below!)

That's right, the big day is TOMORROW,  December 19th!

All authors and readers are invited to leave reviews on currently funding Inkshares books using the Inkshares "leave a review" option. I'll be on Twitter recommending books to review under the hashtag #InksharesReviews (@johnrobinrt)

There will be great prizes for everyone, but if you are an author, here are some of the great reasons to participate:

        1. WIN A FREE COPY OF SCRIVENER for Mac and PC

Scrivener is a great program that gives writers an edge over Word. Authors who join the review exchange will have a chance to win a copy of Scrivener - we’re giving away one copy for Mac and one for PC!

Everyone who participates will get 20% off of the purchase of Scrivener, whether they win or not.

Want to know more about Scrivener? Here’s a video I made where I talk about the pros and cons of Scrivener (and why getting your hands on Scrivener will change how you write for the better):

        2. WIN A FREE MONTH OF AUTHOR ACCELERATOR!

Want to write a solid first draft that’s equivalent to a fifth or sixth? The Author Accelerator program combines weekly pro editorial input with your drafting process to let you go from draft idea to rough draft successfully, and we’re giving away one FREE MONTH (valued at $199) of the program to one lucky author.

Find out more about the Author Accelerator program in this interview I did with the founder of the Author Accelerator program, Jennie Nash, to see how it has given me a true edge and how the Author Accelerator program works for writers who enter it:

AND OF COURSE, there are other GREAT prizes available for all:

        • Sword & Laser Contest Winners Package - print copies of the six winning books from the Sword & Laser Inkshares contest!
        • Nerdist Contest Winners Package - print copies of the five winning books from the Nerdist Inkshares contest!
        • An immediate pre-order of the book of their choice for five winners!
        • $30 in Inkshares credits!

All you have to do for a chance to win is LEAVE A REVIEW to enter the draw for these prizes. Throughout the day we'll be hanging out on Twitter in the #InksharesReviews tag as we share our favorite book projects, answer author Q&As, debate the merits of astronauts with swords versus cavemen with lasers, and much, much more!

Also, from 6 - 8pm ET, JF Dubeau and Paul Inman will be hosting a Google+ Hangout livestream filled with author interviews, review readings, and live announcements of prize winners! I will be there making a brief appearance, along with other authors like Gary Whitta, Rick Heinz, and Jeyna Grace, so come join us for the fun!

Email AC Weston at cara.c.weston@gmail.com to learn more and join the review exchange.

Hope to see you all there!

(And please share this with as many people as possible.)
