Deborah Munro liked an update for The Last Faoii

Greetings, Faoii!

It’s been one week since publication day and I’m still so pleased with how everything is going with The Last Faoii. Our launch party was an incredible success and I still can’t believe how many people came out to support our efforts. But then I remembered that I raised an army to make this book happen and I couldn’t very well be surprised, could I?

One week after publication and The Last Faoii’s Amazon page has nine reviews. This is the next hill we have to take on this battlefield, Faoii, and I’m telling you now-- we will take it. I know how nearly-impossible it is to get reviews on Amazon. There are amazingly talented authors here on Inkshares that have sold thousands of books and haven’t bee able to garner enough ratings to trip the algorithm. So what chance could our campaign have?

Well, those books don’t have an army full of Faoii, do they?

We’re going to make this happen, Faoii. I know we will. But I need your blade again. After you read the story, head over to Amazon and tell me (and eventually the world) what you thought. That’s the only way we can ever fight our way out of obscurity.

And I refuse to remain in obscurity. We are Faoii, after all.

Keep those shields up.

Faoii-Tahani

Deborah Munro liked an update for The Bones of the Past
      Hello everyone!

I know it’s been a while since I posted an update beyond listing another signing (such as my next one at Chapters Gloucester on October 21 from noon to 4!). Promotional efforts and writing have been taking up the lion’s share of my time and The Tide of Madness is coming together very well, if a little slower than I had hoped. Some characters aren’t making it easy – Jenus, for instance, has decided to go off on an unexpected tangent that actually lets me draw on a little more of the world’s history, and Ruin’s storyline is turning out to be more complex than I had expected and now interconnects with more of the other characters much earlier in the book. The result is something I’m really excited about and I’m hoping you’ll agree that it was worth the wait once you get your hands on it!

The goal is to have the manuscript finished within the next 4-5 months. I have a little bit of time off set aside and I’m planning on shutting myself in for a week at some point this winter to get a full 9 days of writing done. I’ve done this before and made incredible progress, so I’m hopeful that it’ll be enough to keep me on track!

In the meantime, the next week won’t see a lot of writing. I’ll be spending all of next weekend at CAN-CON: Conference on Canadian Content in Speculative Arts... – a conference for speculative fiction writers that takes place right here in Ottawa. Last year was my first time attending and I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s comparatively small for a con since it focuses on writers, but it offers great learning opportunities for writers at every stage of their careers with panels of agents, editors, publishers and some really phenomenal authors that range from fantasy - Steven Erikson (Malazan Books of the Fallen, which are my all time favorite books), to Sci-Fi - Sylvain Neuvel (Themis Files, which I particularly recommend as audiobooks), not to mention some newer names like my fellow Inkshares author J-F. Dubeau who writes both Sci-Fi (The Life Engineered, too short but awesome – Hurry up with that sequel JF!) and horror (A god in the Shed, even better than TLE).

Finally, I know I’ve asked this before, but if you’ve read The Bones of the Past, please take a moment to write a review on Goodreads, Amazon, Kobo, Indigo, B&N or wherever you bought it! Every review makes a world of difference in raising awareness of a new book/author! Also, if you are a member of a library (and if you aren’t you should be!) please ask you library to carry my book!

Thank you all, yet again, for your support!

Deborah Munro liked an update for The Last Faoii
Updates, Faoii! Last night was the official launch party and it was absolutely wonderful. I’m still just kind of walking on clouds. I was truly humbled and amazed by how many people came to support the launch. One Faoii that I’d never met in-person even flew in for the night so she could be there to support the book and all of us that helped make it real. My heart is so full, Faoii. A year ago, I wasn’t sure this book was even going to happen, but you all just keep standing up to support it every time I need an extra blade. Thank you.

If you didn’t get a chance to go I posted some pictures on The Last Faoii’s Facebook Page. More will probably show up as people send them along.

The next event is a reading/book raffle/meet-and-greet at Billings Public Library on DECEMBER 6. I want to be able to make that reading just as successful as this one was. That means we have 2 months to get more soldiers excited about this book. We can do that. We can definitely do that!

Also, we’re currently at SEVEN reviews on Amazon! I have NO doubt that we’re going to be able to get enough to register in their algorithm and start really spreading the word! But that means I need YOU to help by letting me (and the world) know what you think about The Last Faoii. Your review can be one word or a thousand. One star or five. Truly, I want Amazon to recognize us, but more than that I want to know what you thought, because that’s the only thing that’s going to help me make the sequel worthy of all those that have chosen to support this series.

This is a good start, Faoii. The last year has been so eventful I almost can’t even comprehend all that’s happened. So imagine what we can do in the coming one. It’s going to be great.

              Shields up!
