Tony Valdez liked an update for The Life Engineered

Happy all the things!

I don’t care what you celebrate, just make sure you enjoy yourself.

Before I go off and eat all the food and drink all the alcohol, I have some cool news to share with all of you. It’s done. I’ve approved the printer-ready files for both the interior and cover of The Life Engineered. This baby is going to press. The final cover is maybe a little different than you remember though. Have a look:

Oh what’s that? Can’t make out the blurb there? Here, enjoy a close up:

I’m a pretty big Battlestar Galactica fan, so you can imagine how awesome this feels for me. If you don't know who Leah Cairns is, look it up. She's awesome.

As always; I couldn’t have done it without you and hopefully this train keeps rolling forward. I’ll see you guys in the new year. In the meantime, do me a favour; stay safe.

Tony Valdez sent an update for Dax Harrison

      Hey everyone!

I'm probably going to be on radio silence for the next few days, so here's a few quick things to keep in mind over the holiday weekend...

The Sword & Laser Collection Contest is in full swing. If you're not familiar, this is a contest held by Inkshares including any sci-fi and fantasy books currently in funding as of December 1st. When the contest ends on January 15th, the 3 books with the most individual pre-orders will be guaranteed publishing! They don't even have to hit the usual 250 order minimum, so long as they are in the top 3 versus the other competitors.

Now this is tough for me, because I am now quite familiar with so many of these authors and their great works. Honestly, they all deserve publishing. So just go take a look, and consider backing any of these fine people. It'd be a nice Xmas present.

Side note: Technically this is the 2nd Sword & Laser Collection contest, so the full title is really "The Sword & Laser Collection Contest: The Sequel". ...Or I suppose you could call it "The Sword & Laser Collection: Part Deux", "Sword & Laser 2: The Quickening", "Sword & Laser Episode II: Attack of the Books", "Sword & Laser 2: Inkshares Boogaloo" .... "Live Free or Publish Hard"? Okay, I'm done.

Secondly, Dax is now sitting pretty at 260 pre-orders, which means it will indeed be published. However, that doesn't mean you should be deterred from continuing your orders! For those of you who have been following the project but have not yet decided to order a copy, feel free to take another look. Maybe read those sample chapters over your holiday weekend, perhaps
as you bask on the couch in a glorious food coma, and see if it tickles your fancy.

Sunday will mark the end of the initial funding campaign, however the book will remain available for pre-order until its release sometime next year. And then, it will be out! Out in the wild! Ready for one and all! Fly, my pretty! Fly!!

ALSO, don't forget! I am still raffling off those gorgeous Dax coffee mugs every 10 orders throughout the funding campaign, and that includes all orders from now through Sunday! I'm behind on my raffle videos, but I will catch up immediately after the weekend festivities are over. As it stands, I have 5 more mugs to give away, and if 2 more people order in the next couple days, there will be a 6th!

And finally, to everyone out there, have a happy and safe holiday weekend. A very merry Christmas to you all. And/or Hanukkah. Or... you know what, hang on a sec...

There we go! A friend made this a few years back. Merry Chrismahanukwanzakah everybody!

Tony Valdez liked an update for The Animal in Man

          Happy Holidays, You Animals!

Just yesterday, "The Animal in Man" reached 200 inkshares readers. That's amazing! I can't say thank you enough! I also can't think of a time in my life when my fingers have had to hit the exclamation mark so many times!!! Seriously!!!

Enjoy this video of myself and my lovely assistant pulling the next five lucky winners in the second 100-reader raffle! Agh, there's another exclamation!

(Did you know you can read The Animal in Man's prologue and second chapter right now by visiting my writing portfolio website? If you have the time, find out what happens to Maxan when he wakes up.)

          Goodbye for now, friends!

Well, the big day is almost here!  Everyone got all their shopping done?  Made sure you got something special for everyone on your list?

Before you finish of that list, might I suggest you take a peek at Inkshares current contest (https://www.inkshares.com/contests/the-sword-laser-collection-contest-the-sequel) and sending a gift an author's way by way of supporting their project?  I don't want to affect your choice, so I won't highlight any one in particular.  There are a lot of good projects and I know it would mean a LOT to all of those authors if you were to throw a little Holiday cheer their way.

Also, I recommend you go check out the in production or already published list(https://www.inkshares.com/search?genres=All&scope=published%2Cin%20production).  It's chock full of amazing books and many are still offering a buy one get one free deal.  I took advantage of that to get presents for many a friend, spreading the Inkshares logo around the world.  My daughter is now so excited to see a package arrive from Inkshares because she thinks it will be for her or be my book (she hasn't quite latched on the the September 2016 publication date yet).

As for my book, an update is in order.  I'm up to me eyeballs in the developmental edit.  It's a good bit of work and is taking quite a bit of time.  It's not as simple as changing a word here or there.  It's a full on change to conversations, weighing what to keep the same versus what to change.  Needless to say it's slow work, but, in the end, I think it will be better for it.

Also, we made past round two of the cover selection discussion.  We're going with a version the readers have not seen yet but one I think is a fair mix of using the original cover but with a fresh twist on it that pulls in elements others liked from the other options.

            Happy Holidays!

Tony Valdez liked an update for You Decide What I'll Write

Alright! With the school semester officially over, I have a bit of time to play with this whole Inkshares thing. As part of this very strange project, help me choose what to write! You've got two choices.

              1) Riley Rose and Time Keepers - This is a little story my 12-year-old sister and I kind of brainstormed. Set in the 1990's, the story follows Riley Rose after the untimely death of her grandmother.  Riley receives her grandmother's bracelet and discovers that it gives the wearer the ability to momentarily slowdown time. It's not long before this discovery that Victor Gray, the owner of a similar bracelet, and his band of "Time Keepers" begins hunting Riley as she quickly realizes truth about her family.

              2) Marta of the White Sea - This is a fantasy story set on the fictional continent of Galeos, and the Kingdom of the White Sea, where forbidden magic of the past had boiled the water, leaving nothing but white sand. The story follows Marta, the daughter of a poor blacksmith on the outskirts of the kingdom. Political unrest caused by a group of rebels leads Marta's father to prison for a crime he did not commit, and locked atop the Black Needle, a towering dungeon in the middle of the desert country. Marta, with the help of her uncle, devises a plan to release her father from prison, but a mysterious witch named Esther reveals secrets about Marta's father that may prove too painful to accept.

Leave a comment below for which one YOU would want to read most! Whichever one gets the most shout outs will be the one I will work on. And as I start each project, I will continually give you more options as to what I'll write, such as character choices, where the story will go, etc.

If you like this idea, feel free to spread the word on this project! It'll be a ton of fun and writing with a community like this is something I've always wanted to do.

              Thanks and happy holidays!
