Tony Valdez liked an update for She Is the End
Hello, friends new and old! I didn't send an update last week because I'm trying to finish editing my book (yikes) and it is a slow (gosh) and steady (sheesh) process (no).  It's going to be great! (SOB SOB.)

I keep accidentally offering to help with other stuff, though. It's a great way to procrastinate! (ARGH!)

FIRST, I will now raffle off the original panel for the graphic novel page I'm doing for Amanda Orneck's Deus Hex Machina...

The winner is....

Matt Kaye! Congratulations!

SECOND, you need to all watch Amanda's promo video for DHM because there's an ALTERNATE REALITY GAME you HAVE TO PLAY. It is SO FUN, and by fun I mean super-frustrating but very satisfying to finish. Joe Terzieva and I worked on it separately, then when we both got stuck we worked on it together for part of a day and we FIGURED IT OUT!

You have to follow the clues and search through the shadowy reaches of the internet to save a scientist who has been sucked into the Grid!!! Go! DO IT!

THIRD, I joined a syndicate! Janna Grace created one for Strong Female Characters (strongly-written characters, not just tough characters, of course) and you know how much I love those. I just had to join. Check it out!!

FOURTH, if you are interested in any sort of, shall we say, tabletop gaming... stay tuned. John Robin, Joe Terzieva and I are working on something for Blood Dawn that you might want to be a part of....

FIFTH, JF Dubeau's The Life Engineered is being released March 1st!! If you haven't bought his book yet, that's actually a good thing - because we're doing an Amazon order drive on the day of the launch! This will hopefully get his book to debut on a top 10 list and get him more exposure, which is always good.

His book has already been mentioned on io9.com and it's getting really good reviews, so if you like robots, give it a chance and ORDER IT ON MARCH 1st!

SIXTH, AND FINALLY, I am going into deep editing mode for the next month. I will be doing little "Writer's Log" updates periodically, but otherwise I'll be going internet-silent until I finish my manuscript.

(We'll see how that goes.)

    We have a cover!!!!!!

Hi Everyone!  After several months of working like dogs, revising, re-revising, and tweaking, the design crew is ready for the big reveal.  Here it is!

Well I'm just tickled pink by it.  So cool, so cool, so very cool.

In other news, here's a quick update on where things stand:

The manuscript is currently with the copy editor, hammering out all those last pesky commas and such.  That should be wrapping up in the next couple weeks.  Once I've gone through and checked out all the comments it goes into book format, and another couple sets of eyes make sure the conversion from doc file to publishing file didn't muck up any of the formatting and stuff.  Then off to the printer!

The file is scheduled to get sent to the printer mid-April, with the ebook going live by early July and the finished book hitting bookstores August 2.  Backers should, in theory, be getting their copies well in advance of that August date - the late date has something to do with book store purchasing cycles and whatnot.

So there we have it!  Thank you again for all your support!  Since the project went live the price has gone up somewhat from what you paid, but if you know someone who would like a copy, the $5 credit for new Inkshares users is still live.  And if they use your referral link you'll earn $15 in credit (only once per project), which you can use to order or pre-order other great books from the site.

    Cheers
    Dave

Tony Valdez liked an update for Women Like Us

Hey all!  Over the weekend we passed the 200 pre-order mark, which I consider a milestone, and I most heartily thank everybody who has supported "Women Like Us."  As of right now we're at 206, so any followers who haven't ordered, come on and join in!

Now onto hopefully the last raffle in this campaign. If you haven't been following (or paying attention, and if that's the case we need to talk!) in this raffle the winner will help select the design and placement of a tattoo on my person* that will honor Derric of the Beagle Freedom Project, who has numbers and letters tattooed in his ear. The ear tattoo was the way these dogs were identified when they were in labs, so for five years Derric went by BCT-8 and did not have a name.  Somehow Derric's tattoo will be incorporated into my design, and again I am doing this as a way of honoring Derric's bravery -- he survived five years of being caged up and subjected to who knows what. And yet he has emerged as a fun, playful little clown. Could we all say the same?  Always remember when publish goal reached, 10% of book sales will go to the Beagle Freedom Project.

So...onto the raffle.  I will be in touch with the winner and we'll figure out how to get this done.  Here, watch:

      https://youtu.be/12umOlxOiUI

Thanks, all. And again if you haven't pre-ordered, now's the time, and if you have, no harm in another copy!

*Fine print: there are some restrictions on tattoo placement!!

Tony Valdez liked an update for Storm of Fury

        Hello everyone,

Sorry about the recent radio silence lately, but in truth, there really hasn't been anything happening here that warrants an update. We're currently sitting at 191 copies  of Storm of Fury sold, which leaves us with 59 books remaining and 45 days to sell them.

The number of sales has increased since my last update, which is due to the fantastic efforts of my very generous family. And while every sale is a good one, I can't help but feel disheartened by it. There has been little to no growth in Storm of Fury's following, which is a very bad thing. While I may be able to sell a few here and there, very soon sales will grind to a halt.

As we currently stand, we have to sell more than one copy each day, at the very least, in order to hit 250 copies in time. Some might begin to worry. Others might start to have doubts.

        But not me.

I will not doubt this project, not for a single moment and not even in its final day. I do not take my writing lightly, and I've spent years crafting story after story, and I would not dare present one for publishing that wasn't worthy of an audience. I know Storm of Fury is a story worth reading and sharing, I know it's a novel worth publishing. I've seen the reviews my fellow peers and authors have left on SoF's page, and I've seen them rally to support me. The people here at Inkshares have helped SoF rise into the view of potential readers since day one, and I know they'll continue to do so until the end. I couldn't do this without the people I've met here and I couldn't do this without each and every one of you. You, my readers, are the most important part of this whole campaign. You're the reason I haven't given up, for I know that you will someday soon hold a copy of this book in your hands.

Thank you. Thank you for your contributions and continued support.

59 more copies? Peace of cake.

        -Andrew

Tony Valdez liked an update for Rune of the Apprentice

           Hello Everyone!

I have some great news! RUNE's schedule and publication date has just been finalized! Although there are many deliverables on RUNE's production timeline (publishing and marketing a book is a MASSIVE undertaking), the one readers will be most interested in is:

RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE will be published on November 1st, 2016!

Additional good news is that YOU will be getting your copies before this date AND we will also be able to have special early release copies for New York Comic-Con, too! We don’t know the exact date books will be shipped to you, but I’ll keep you posted!

Even though you will be getting you books before November, I know this is still a long way out. Reading this, I’m sure you are feeling the same emotion I initially felt upon hearing the news: disappointment that RUNE will not be published sooner like originally planned. Despite that initial feeling, as I work more closely with both Inkshares and Girl Friday Productions, and see the tremendous amount of work being put into RUNE, that disappointment has been transformed into appreciation and gratitude. While I know you do not see this hard work first hand, I will do my best to keep you updated on our progress so you can see all we are doing to polish RUNE into printed perfection—which will hopefully help curb your disappointment, even if only a little.

I can go on and on about this and am happy to answer any questions over at @StoneJamison, or down below in the comments, however, I want to keep this update quick so as to not fill up your inbox. Although there are MANY milestones ahead, the next important steps are Cover Design and Developmental Edits!

Cover: I have a call later today where the RUNE team will be solidifying our collective vision for the cover so the designer can begin to move forward with samples for review and selection. There are usually three rounds to this process. The early samples will focus on options of several different directions and the later rounds will polish that vision, bringing it into a finalized physical form. The designer’s previous work is fantastic and I am very excited to see what he produces. I will keep you all updated as we progress!

Developmental Edits: Editing a 500+ page Fantasy/Sci-Fi epic is no small feat. Although RUNE has already had several rounds of professional editing, there is always ways to make a novel of this magnitude more engaging, engrossing, and awe-inspiring! I have been tremendously pleased with the pre- Girl Friday Productions edits, and am now very excited to see their continued polish added to RUNE. The next round of Developmental edits should be done by the end of next month, and then wrapped up by the end of March with copy editing and proofreading to follow in the months to come.

As I said, there are many more milestones after that (I have not even gotten started on marketing!) but for now I’ll end this update. The road to publication is a long one, however, I am so very excited to have you all along for the ride. RUNE OF THE APPRENTICE is going to enliven the hearts and minds of readers across the globe, and it warms MY heart knowing that you all are here to partake in this EPIC journey!
