Hello,
Check out the pre-order stats provided by Inkshares for SQUIDS IN:
As you can see, the rate of funding has flattened off as we approach the end of the Nerdist video-game contest. By keeping a close eye on the leaderboard (I swear my F5 key is going to break due to all the double-tapping) I can see that this is apparently also true for a lot of the other entries in the contest too. The quiet before the storm perhaps?
If the contest ends as is, I would of course be slightly disappointed not to have made it into the top 3 but I would be supremely chuffed with how the contest has gone. I never thought that my silly book about a video-game playing octopus would receive this much support from within the Inkshares community and honestly, you guys make up like 50% of my pre-orders, so thank you for making me feel so welcome here!
In return, I have decided to give something back to the community by starting up a new syndicate called "Why So Serious" which will focus purely on funny, humour filled books to make us all smile and laugh in these dark and desperate times.
Feel free to join the syndicate and help us to decide the first book we should back.

Good Morning All and Happy 4th July to all of my ’merican friends...
Hello Everyone!
Hi Everybody!
Today is a sad day because unless Squids In finishes in the Top 3 of the Nerdist Video-Game contest, the illustration below might well be the last time you guys get to see Hendrix the octopus. Luckily the final illustration for Chapter 3 is a great one. It shows the burgeoning friendship between Toby and Hendrix, when Toby finally realises that the octopus has been without food for a good few days and so finds some crab meat with which to feed him.
Once again, this illustration was done by Eugene Karasz who I found over on DeviantArt. If any of you guys need an artist for any of your projects, let me know and I can put the two of you in touch.
For a brief period yesterday, Squids In surged up the leaderboard to 4th place! Sadly the book has dropped back to 5th today. It seems that the books sudden surge has pushed our competitors into action.
If you have yet to commit to ordering this silly book about a video-game playing octopus, please give some consideration to doing so and have a read (or listen) to the chapters I have uploaded.
It’s gonna be a fun few weeks. Remember, the contest ends on 15th July at 7am in the UK (which probably means I will be up all night trying to scrap the last few orders I can from some Australian supporters)!

Depending on whereabouts in the world you are, you may not be aware that over the past 24 hours, the population of the UK has done something quite extraordinary. They have voted in a referendum to leave the European Union.
The vote was close (52% out versus 48% in) but the result has started a chain reaction that’s already forced in our Prime Minister to resign and caused the UK financial markets to go into free-fall (Tip - If you want to by GBP currency, do it NOW!!!). Dystopian future indeed...
Although this is like the biggest news day for a generation over here in the UK, I’m unable to keep up to date with it all because Hendrix has a friend over and they just want to spend the day playing retro Atari 2600 games.
SQUIDS IN is still in 5th place currently, but "Mothering:The Game" is just one pre-order behind in 6th place, so our position in the top 5 certainly isn’t stable. What we need is a further 15 pre-orders in order to get back on terms with the guys infront.
If you know anyone who may be able to help me to achieve this task, please make them aware of SQUIDS IN and ask them if they would be willing to support this silly little video-game playing octopus.
Thank you very much!
Matthew
