Put up a new blog post about a song that helped solidify the idea for A Door in the Woods.
There’s a new post up at artelliott.com
An friend, Annie, gave me the idea for flyers. So I made flyers. I’ve gotten them up in a couple spots around town. But, if you want, you can print some out and stick them on your break room wall, local ice cream place, or your grandma’s forehead (only when she’s sleeping though, please be respectful).
If anyone has any ideas for out reach - leave me a comment on the site.
Thanks!
OK, let’s try this again.
I’m currently hiding behind my front door, next to way too much candy, ready to pop out and scare any young’uns who stop by. The X-Files theme is on a 44 minute loop, blaring out the window and the black light is making my living room look extra creepy.
Check out artelliott.com to see my Halloween costume. Have a safe and sugared night!
I posted another quick blog post on ArtElliott.com. it’s basically there to show people how to read the first chapter (if you haven’t - thanks for buying it sight unseen - now go back and read the first chapter). It also has a link to a rundown of how Inkshares works. I have to get a certain number of pre-orders (either 250 or 750 depending on the format) to get the book published.
I have a couple ideas on how to get there but word of mouth is going to help A LOT.
TELL YOUR FRIENDS! The holiday season is coming up. Discuss it at Thanksgiving dinner when a family member (you know the one) gets feisty. Let people know it would make a great gift to leave under the Festivus pole.
I’m aiming for two posts a week? That sees vaguely reasonable.
Maybe
First off, thanks for your support. We’re off to a slow start but pick a metaphor a) Rome wasn’t built in a day or b) it’s a marathon not a sprint. I’d pick the Rome one because no one actually likes to run marathons.
To help keep everyone updated, and streamline things, I’ve started ArtElliott.com. Feel free to copy and paste that link into any social media you might have (shameless plug for shameless plugging). I put a new post up today about messing around with a mock up cover so check that out.
Charlie really likes the green picture - I’m partial to the pinkish one. I’ll keep messing with it. My ’shop skills are lacking so the mock-up will probably end up looking pretty mocked-up but the general idea will be there. The options are slightly pop art and aggressively neon. I was trying for something bright but not light. Loud but dark. The book is fun but not always happy and I wanted to show that in the cover. Set expectations from the very start.
