S.E. Soldwedel liked an update for Rune of the Apprentice
Masters and Apprentices!  Three pieces of exciting news!

  1. Maps!
  2. Blurbs!
  3. RUNE Short Story!

1. First off, M.S. Corley, the SUPER talented artist of RUNE’s cover has just completed his digital map renderings of my hand drawn originals! These awesome images will be printed on RUNE’s hardcover endsheets! I think he did a truly fantastic job of not only preserving all details of my originals, but also adding a wonderful elegance which perfectly matches RUNE’s cover! Well done, sir!

2. RUNE’s blurbs are coming in and I am SUPER humbled by the praise. See for yourself:

"RUNE is an epic journey about transforming the darkness within so that we can achieve true peace in the world around us." --Chade-Meng Tan, New York Times Bestselling Author of Joy on Demand and Search Inside Yourself

"Jamison Stone has created a vivid world filled with rich detail unlike any I’ve ever seen before. His diverse cast of engaging characters brings his vision to life so brightly that I cannot wait for the next installment. Don’t deny yourself this guilty pleasure." --Terry Mixon, author of The Empire of Bones Saga and The Humanity Unlimited Saga

"Jamison Stone’s writing style is clear, engaging, and highly recommended! In just the first chapter alone, Rune of the Apprentice will provide immediate immersion into a mystical and mysterious world which will keep you coming back for more." --Erik A. Lenderman, author of Principles of Practical Psychology

It is profoundly humbling knowing that those who have read RUNE have enjoyed it so greatly--and it fills my heart with joy knowing that SOON you all will have the same opportunity!

3. Lastly, our short story anthology "Too Many Controllers" has been green lit with full publishing by Inkshares! My story is set in the same world as Rune of the Apprentice and will offer a truly amazing sneak peek into not only the mysterious machinations of Terra’s angelic and deific Guardians, but also RUNE’s sequel, entitled Name Redacted>;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;! How exciting!

p.s. I hope to have some additional wonderful news in the days and weeks to come, but don’t want to ruin the surprise prematurely. All in all, RUNE has an exciting ride ahead of it, and it’s all because of you! Thank you, and most importantly, enjoy!

    S.E. Soldwedel sent an update for Disintegration

    Fifteen years ago, while sitting in the cafe at the Michigan State University library, I noticed the spine of a book right next to me. The author’s name, in white, I’d never seen before. The title was in an orange gradient: "Perdido Street Station."

    I was intrigued simply because I speak Spanish and I love orange. The author’s name was interesting, too: China Mieville. It’s funny what might spur you to check out a book, right? I pulled it from the shelf and read the praise on the back cover. It was effusively positive, so I read the story description on the flaps of the front and back covers. Holy shit. I had to read this book.

    I did. It was amazing.

    Now, I’m reading it again. I’m on page 623, a little fewer than 100 pages from the end. It’s a big book. A tome. But I swear that I could indefinitely inhabit the world he’s created. A friend of mine from high school (and a supporter of my book, Disintegration) gave me his copy of another Mieville book, "The Scar," which might even be better than "Perdido." They are at least equally good. I’m going to read it again, too. Then I’m going to read "Iron Council," the third book in his Bas-Lag series.

    I’m telling you all of this because, in reading "Perdido" for the second time, I’m reminded of how a richly developed world and fully realized characters can provide a great, engrossing escape. I may not be telling you anything you don’t know, of course, but I feel compelled to say it because I encounter a lot of media that falls flat for me. In my re-read of "Perdido" I’ve found a few copy errors, and there are times where he uses words he didn’t need to use, and often uses them again and again but, though a little off-putting, it doesn’t detract *at all* from the superlative quality of his amazing story.

    I understand that a lot of people worry about word count and shoehorning a story into an "acceptable" amount of space, but there is something to be said for a story that takes up as much space as it does and still manages to grab you, keep your attention, and nag at your memory after you’ve put it down. Have you ever seen the Director’s Cut of "Aliens" ... way better. Have you ever read the unabridged version of "Stranger in a Strange Land"? Sure, letting a creative run amok might not always lead to great results, but I doubt that hemming them in does, either.

    If you’ve never read China Mieville, check him out. It’s well worth it.

    And if you’ve not ordered a copy of Disintegration, please do. It, too, will grab you, engross you, challenge normalcy, and nag at your memory.

    Good thing there will be three other books to follow it. ;)

      S.E. Soldwedel liked an update for Mission 51

      18 days of funding left and we seem to be stalled at 162 pre-orders, which is not really close to the 250 required for publication by Inkshares. But I am not going to worry too much about that. My plan is to keep refining the Mission 51 manuscript, which I think is already a riot (of course I would think that, it is my book, LOL) and just keeps getting better all the time! It will get published one way or another when the time is right, and maybe this is just not yet the right time.

      So, the other part of Mission 51 refinement relates to the art. Chris Pyke just finished another piece, this one to go with the chapter "Roswell Revisited." Take a look. It is too spectacular for words. Absolutely awesome talent! :D

        Good morning, everyone.

        Still chugging along.

        I got a couple nibbles about beta readers, but could certainly use some more. I know you’re all getting a lot of Inkshares email if you follow half as many people as I do but, if you happen to catch a glimpse of this update, let me know whether you’d like to join the beta crowd. I expect to have something for you by August.

          Just a little shout from the deep. I’ve been writing, it’s been excellent. I’m really excited. I’m on track to deliver the manuscript to Inkshares by the end of September.

          The one thing I need are some volunteers to beta read the manuscript. I’ll be reaching out to some people privately but, if anyone else is interested, feel free to get in touch with me.

          Excelsior.

              A Huge THANK YOU !!

              As all of you who already checked your emails have found out - WE DID IT !

              I must admit that in every scenario I ran through my head writing this email - it was always close or pretty damn close, but never have I dreamt that we would reach 750 orders, and 11 days ahead of schedule.

              What next? Well, the truth of the matter is that I do not know... The book is already available to buy as a regular book on Inkshares, but it will take time for me and whoever will be chosen as my editor, to create a final marketable version. What I do know, is that I will work as hard as I can to make this novel the best & worthy of your support.

              I want to thank each and every one of you who pre-ordered. But before I will quickly run through what I’ve learnt during these 4 hectic months and a day,  I wanted to specially thank people who actively helped getting me orders & supported in any way they could: First my wife Yael who not only helped but endured this thing firsthand; my Dad Yosefi, Mom Mira & Sister Michal who actively bugged everyone to a great personal cost of their own; my Aunt Ilana who is by far the top referrer; My mother-in-law Orit; James Rasile & Evan Graham who came close second as referrers; My mom’s friends who helped raise orders as well: Dieda Robins & Judith Lynn, and everyone else who pitched in - I am forever grateful. Finally all my wonderful friends from home and work, who I bugged relentlessly, and they keep answering my calls regardless - you know who you are!

              A special thanks to friends I’ve made along the way who helped with orders or just moral support: Billy O’keef, Peter Ryan, Kelsey Barthel and Rick Heinz - you guys are the best. As well as to all my supporting Goodreads buddies (Vicky, Paula, Diane & Anna Jane) who have been more than kind but actively took a chance on someone who was, until recently, a stranger.

              All these people have helped with no personal gain of their own, simply because they like me or my book, and this means a lot.

              Regarding the Charity - I want to keep the pledge to Norwood UK a while longer - so any book sold in the course of July, regardless of the referral, will grant 3.5$/2£ for this special cause.

              Finally, before i come back with an official schedule (I am just in the dark as you are), I wish to take the time and tell you what I have learned in these educating 4 months and a day:

              I learned to write better; I learned to accept criticism; I learned Social Media (is the devil); I learned video making; I learned crowdfunding; I learned that a picture is truly worth a thousand words;
              I learned about the kindness of strangers;
              I learned about cruelty and jealousy;
              I learned that best friends are best friends (and they are always there for you);
              I learned that family is family - no matter what you decide to do;
              I learned the value of  helping others;
              And I learned there’s nothing we can’t do - however far it may seem, if we just set our minds to it.

              Oh and these babies will be going out to top referrers, so expect a personal email about it soon ;-)

              More in due time...

                S.E. Soldwedel liked an update for Dax Harrison

                Are you there Inkshares? It’s me, Tony.

                What’s this? A prideful look with my morning coffee and unapologetic insane morning hair? What could this mean? It means that after an obscenely long journey, I have handed in my manuscript to Inkshares. That’s it. It’s done. No more tinkering. No more hemming and hawing. Save for any grammatical errors the team finds during copy editing, the book is exactly what it will be when it reaches your hands in the hopefully nearish future.

                I know what you’re thinking. WHEN, TONY?! WHEN?! I don’t have an answer at this moment, but I should very soon. The Inkshares team will post a Production Status timeline on the Dax Harrison book page with estimated dates. With Inkshares’s booming growth, they have a LOT of books in various stages of production. Which is great news! But hopefully that doesn’t mean any major delays for Dax. We shall see.

                This has been one long strange trip for me. A challenge, a huge learning experience, crazy rewarding and crazy humbling. I can’t thank you all enough for your patience and support. I think I’ve probably said that in every update, but it is absolutely true. There will be a Thank You section in the back of the book listing all the contributors who bought multiple copies during the funding campaign. If I could though, I’d list every single person who helped make this possible. You guys are all my heroes.

                In the meantime, I’ll be updating the posted sample chapters of the book from their original versions to their finished edits. Unfortunately, this means some of the lovely comments people have left will be removed in the process. So if you feel like re-reading your favorite chapter and commenting again, have at it!

                Also, if you haven’t tired of hearing me blabber on about this book (I really don’t know how that’s possible), you can check out a new interview with me on Christopher Irvin’s author blog! Chris is an experienced writer of crime/noir fiction, and he is now branching out into sci-fi/fantasy with his new Inkshares book WRESTLETOWN! Wrestletown is an illustrated adventure novel and a love letter to professional wrestling and comics. I highly encourage you to check it out!

                One more thing: I ALSO encourage you to check out Monkey Business by Landon Crutcher! Now that I’m out of writing mode, I’ve finally been able to fully dive into this one, and it’s great. Landon was the first to be published through Inkshares’s Quill imprint, and he’s provided some great insight into the process for us other authors. And his writing is hilarious. Look, it even has my endorsement on the cover!

                All right, gang. That’s enough out of me. I’m off to do very important author things: Getting off the computer and washing the dishes for the wife like I promised. :)

                  S.E. Soldwedel sent an update for Disintegration

                  Hey, everybody. Surely you’ve heard, by now, that Disintegration will be published. Some of you have asked me directly: when?

                  That’s the question.

                  In making this update, I’m taking a break from writing but, once I send it, I’ll go right back to it, with Mastodon’s "The Hunter" as my musical motivation. There is still work to do. The story is complete but, as I’ve mentioned, I don’t want to deliver anything less than the best possible version of the manuscript. That doesn’t mean I’m going to procrastinate interminably; I understand that, every time I read the book, I could find something to change. I’m trying to avoid that trap and focus only on changing things that are errors in continuity, that bog down the narrative, that detract from the tale I mean to tell.

                  In other news, I finished reading Trekonomics last night. If you haven’t ordered a copy of it, do it now. Manu Saadia did a great job, and the book provides examples of how we’re not far from the utopia depicted in Star Trek. Disintegration may be dystopic, but I’m all for a future that never looks like the one I’m depicting. Read Trekonomics and start thinking seriously about how we can make a bright future for all of humanity our reality.
