Knowing that two people in the same congregation often have different interpretations of their holy text, it made me wonder what it would be like if the government could establish its authority based on a single interpretation of the Bible.
It wasn’t much of a stretch of the imagination to think that this 1984-style despotic leadership would edit and manipulate the text of the Bible to further underpin their own power.
