Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Journey, A Short Story -  Volume 1

    Friday weekly update.

Merry Christmas and / or Happy Holidays!

This was a Big week for my project. The Barnes & Noble appearance went exceedingly well! Because I  already hit up my friends and relatives (and their friends and relatives) during the pre-order campaign, I had to rely mostly on my ability to convince total strangers who wandered by my table that the book was worth their time and 20 bucks.

With a target rich environment and a week before Christmas crowd, I hit the sweet spot! Sold 80 copies of my hardcover. Store managers told me that it was the best-selling author appearance of the year and among the best over many years. (Obviously J.K. Rowling and Stephen King etc. don't visit the Salem, NH venue) But another writer attached to a bigger publisher was in the store at the same time and sold 12 copies.

My passion and belief in my project was contagious and my conversion rate with the customers was unreal - around 70% of the people who talked to me ended up buying the book.

The store manager and I hit it off very well and she gave me carte blanche permission to return for follow up appearances Any Time I want to. How crazy is that! I will now use this connection and recommendation to approach other B&N outlets within driving distance. Hoping to spend many upcoming Saturdays doing this and growing my outreach. I won't see the same size crowds or sell anywhere near as many books during these other store visits, but I'll walk away with them (hopefully) keeping a few copies in stock at each new location that I visit.

In other news, I did an interview with Fox-News Radio in Fort Myers Florida. My publicist tells me that they will be able to book many more radio interviews as we approach and are into the presidential primaries. The ability to get these interviews is mostly due to my Donald Trump connection, which is told as one of the "method-written" fictionalized stories in my book. (If you've read it, you know what I'm talking about! If you haven't read it yet, try to squeeze it into your schedule:-)

What I want for Christmas is REVIEWS on Amazon, click Here, and Goodreads click Here! (Thank you so much Dave Barrett!) Check out Dave's awesome Inkshares  project! It's All Fun and Games click Here

      Happy Holidays guys!!

I've got a bunch of credits about to expire; reach out if you want me to support out your project or swap orders! Email me at jliggan.com or Twitter @lamplitug

As always, a huge thanks to everyone supporting The Talkers are Talking! Funding ends mid January so I don't think we'll make the full funding option, but Talkers will be published with Quill and that is entirely due to all of you. Thank you thank you!

      Love,

          Dear Friends

My editor Penny-Lane and I want to wish you all a Happy Holidays.

Thank you for your support, for your words of encouragement, and for making 2015 one of the best years of my life.

This year I did two big things: I ran the New York City Marathon, and I wrote a novel. It would be easy to pat my back and congratulate myself for such achievements, but the truth is that the blood, sweat and tears that took to achieve those two things were not only mine.

There were so many people cheering for me every time I reached a milestone; there were so many friends and family picking me up when I fell and thought I couldn’t keep going. There was all of you, who took a chance on my book and helped me reach my funding goal.

If I learned anything this year is that hard-work is not all it takes to achieve big dreams; a support system, a network of love is what make dreams come true.

So once again: Thank You All!

It wouldn’t be a proper end of the year update without a quote from the wisest man in the universe:

“There’s a lot of things you need to get across this universe. Warp drive… wormhole refractors… You know the thing you need most of all? You need a hand to hold.”

          The Tenth Doctor, Fear Her.

Thomas J. Arnold sent an update for Exile, Magus

As you may have already guessed, I decided to skip yesterday's blog post due to the hectic nature of my schedule this week.  This will also be my last update until Saturday.  I've got a fair amount of baking I need to get done today, so I'm going to try to keep this one short.

First, on Exile, Magus.  We're currently at 64 copies ordered amongst 60 readers, and have 247 followers.  This means that 187 of you haven't ordered yet, and if you all were to that would put us up to 251 ordered which is just over the Quill goal.  So, obviously I do hope those of you who have been on the fence or otherwise waiting to order will do so soon since we only have 30 days left in the campaign at this point.  Also just in case there is still some confusion(which would have unfortunately been caused by my own confusion), everyone physical copy ordered will be a signed copy.

Now on to try to spread a little book love to a book I can't wait to read.

Today I want to give a special shout-out to a project here that deserves your support. With 4 days to go, it has just today hit the Quill goal but it deserves even more than that.

            Here's a bit about it:

Dax Harrison by Tony Valdez is set in a space-faring future, where an alien war criminal seeks vengeance on humanity, and a celebrated-but-bumbling hero is forced back into action... whether he likes it or not.

To find out more, visit its project page here: https://www.inkshares.com/projects/dax-harrison-2276

OR, read more about it now:

Dax Harrison - Hero. Legend. ...Schmuck.

Ten years ago, Commander Dax Harrison saved humanity from an invading alien race bent on enslaving the galaxy.

            Or so we’ve been told.

The details are fuzzy, as the legend of Commander Harrison has been exaggerated through years of pulp novels, made-for-TV movies and so on.

These days, Dax spends his time not-so-humbly enjoying his fame, counting royalty checks and coasting his way toward retirement.

But as he counts the days until he can disappear on a beach somewhere, fate has other plans.

A dangerous shadow from the past puts a wrench in Dax's easygoing existence, and he is forced to finally live up to his legend, whether he likes it or not.

That's all I've got for today, so again please preorder if you haven't done so already, recommend Exile, Magus to anyone you think might also be interested, and help me get over that Quill line as well.  Thanks for all your time and support, and enjoy whatever holiday you celebrate at this time of year.  See you all Saturday for either posting additional Exile, Magus content or another tidbit of Book 2: Exile, Hunted.

                Thanks for the graphic, Vincent!

It's official, gang! We are OVER THE LINE!

Dax WILL be published. I can't thank you all enough. The show's not over and there's still a TON of work to do, but for now, I'm over the moon.

Now, a couple updates. First, fantasy author C. Brennecke invited me to do an interview for her blog, Myths, Mists & Musings! She had some great questions about the book, and naturally, I rambled on far too long. Haha. There's also a new exclusive excerpt from Dax to read! Check it all out HERE.

Also, be sure to check out Seven Shards: The Colors of Wine. There's about a month to go and plenty of orders to fill. Let's pay it forward and get another great book published!

And finally, a new special video update! I was planning to release it as a "4 days left" video. I guess it's now a victory video. ENJOY!

                  Good morning, Dax fans!

DAX COUNTDOWN: 5 days, 15 orders to go!

In my foolish, sleep-deprived state, I previously forgot to mention a few thank yous in my last update...

Dax received a plethora of amazing reviews during Saturday's Review-A-Thon event. Yes, a plethora, which gave me a big lump in my throat, made me a little weepy eyed, and generally left me about as happy as El Guapo on his birthday...

You know, before the Three Amigos crashed the party.

Thank you to Vincent Lim, Amanda Orneck, Andrew Wood, Jamison Stone, G. Derek Adams, Jason Pomerance, Shannon Saldin, Paul Inman, Landon Crutcher, Thomas J. Arnold, Alan Tucker, Steve Soldwedel, Jim McDoniel, and Chris Robinson.

I've tagged each of their names with links directly to their respective projects, because they deserve your support too! To post all of their kind words about Dax here would be far too self-serving. But I at least have to share G. Derek Adams's epic review, as it is a bit of a hilarious work of art unto itself:

                  G. DEREK ADAMS
"Comedy is harder than drama. Drama is open to interpretation, discussion, analysis -- everyone knows funny. And you can't force funny via interpretation, discussion, analysis. It is either funny or not funny. The Grand Binary. Dax Harrison is funny. Tony Valdez is funny. I love the setting and the crazy-ass Buck Rogers pastiche, I am 100% on board with the aesthetic and the plot arc I see developing in the first excerpts. Interrogating heroism, public perception, duty - I am HERE for all these grand concepts explicated through a patently silly premise. But what's really exciting me is that this book is funny. The punch lines land, the asides are light and bouncy, it never stops and alerts me that 'THIS IS A JOKE'. This is a rare thing. A precious thing. A shiny, shiny unicorn who wants to take you to McDonalds and talk about Macross continuity. Recognize it and treasure it. Sidebar - if you can watch Tony's video and not make a pre-order then you are a mean person who can't feel joy and puppies hate you."

Sci-fi & Fantasy author Amanda Orneck also posted a lovely review of Dax on her author blog, Immersive Cursive. READ IT HERE!

And last but not least, another big thanks to Amanda and Inkshares team member Avalon Radys for organizing a guest post for me on the official Inkshares blog! READ IT HERE!

Stay tuned, gang. We're in The Final Days of Dax, and we're going out with a BANG!
