Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Sweet Torture

Hello, all!

This will just be a quick update. Life has been a bit of a roller coaster, so not much has progressed on the writing end of things... :/

However, my family and I are going on vacation next week so hopefully that'll refresh me! I'll also work on editing the first chapter and see if I can improve for my update next week!

So happy new year! Thanks for following! See you next week... 💗

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for The Animal in Man

    The creep to 300 continues!

Just this past weekend, Alicia Smock, a very talented writer for The Examiner, interviewed me about my book. About the stresses of its Inkshares campaign, about some of the secrets I'm still hiding within its world, and about how all the support you, my dear readers, have given me. Thank you so much. Please click here to read Ms. Smock's amazing article.

I wanted to work in how if it had not been for Mr. Zachary Tyler Linville putting me in contact with Ms. Smock, the whole thing wouldn't have happened. Zac is the author of Welcome to Deadland, winner of the Nerdist Collection Contest. There's a damn good reason he won, too. His book is first in a series, and if you're as big a Walking Dead fan as I am, you should make it a point to check out and pre-order his work. (That's right: ZOMBIES!)

There was one detail which Alicia and I tried to work in to the article, but was left clipped on the editing room floor. See near the end how she mentions only 'three human beings on the planet' know the secrets I'm hiding in "The Animal in Man"? Well, author Andy Ainsworth is one. His fantastic novel "These Old Bones" (buy it!) was one of the very first that ever sold me on how amazing the Inkshares platform could be for us authors, and he's since become the friend of mine who helped me find my own novel's great cover art.

Rick Heinz, who I pretty much consider my Mr. Miagi at this point (though he strives for Yoda), is mentioned. I want to thank Rick once more - because I can never do so enough - for pushing my hesitant *** into the Sword & Laser contest. He believed in me. Rick's next book - the sequel to his "Seventh Age: Dawn" - is already underway. Pre-order Dawn now so you can be prepared when Jack II (the cybernetic assassin I played in his game) makes his appearance in "Rise of Dystopia." (He better, Rick, or else!)

Thank you so much for following "The Animal in Man." We're going to win this thing. I know there are still plenty of followers out there reading this who have not committed to a full-on pre-order yet. There may be an attitude of 'Ah, Joe's already won this thing.' There may be a belief that I'm some arrogant king on a hundred-reader mountain. But neither is the case. I am still in need of your help, and I am simply humbled by all the support I've received thus far for "The Animal in Man." Once the story is done and the book's in your hands, you'll see why I believe in this project so passionately. I hope you'll join me, see the heart I pour into it, and help me get the book to you where it belongs.

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Vanish, book one of a series.

        Hi Vanishians,

First of all I'd like to say thank you  for all of  your support and kindness. Without you, my book would not be in the process of becoming a reality, and I would have a lot of trouble on my hands.

I'm happy to announce that my book structure is being reviewed as you read this very update by trusted friends and family! I'm having a lot of fun writing to the Beatles on Spotify, and soon I'll be able to adjust the story line to make it even more exciting if necessary. If anyone is interested in seeing what happens in my book, contact me and I'd be more than happy to send a copy of the structure to you.

        Have a phantasmagorical Tuesday!

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for The Children of the Forest

          Hello everyone !

It's been a fantastic couple of weeks for The Children of the Forest, and despite some solid competition from many of the other entrants in the 2nd S&L contest, we've managed to hold onto one of the top 5 places! I've really enjoyed the entire process, and as we near the end of the contest it's still looking like a toss-up for 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th place. Looking ahead, we have one final fundraiser scheduled for the 10th, so all local followers and friends are invited to come out and support us with free food and drink as we attempt one final rally for the book.

I'll be working on edits and some other stuff all day, and I'm hoping to have chapter 8 posted by the end of tonight. For all my followers that have yet to pre-order a copy, please consider jumping in and taking the plunge. There's currently more than 20,000 words from my book available to read, and your purchase enters you for a chance to win a $250.00 Amazon Gift Card (drawing to be held on January 15th)!

          Until next time ~

Thomas J. Arnold sent an update for Exile, Magus

Well, its Tuesday again and unfortunately I don't have a blog post to announce, but I did come up with an idea late last night so I won't disappoint next week. As for Exile, Magus' funding status: we're at 68 orders, 265 followers, and only 17 days left to hit the funding goal, so for all of you who haven't ordered you should not delay much longer(or at all) and go ahead and hit the order button. My thanks to all of you who have ordered, will ordered, and have supported in other ways such as recommending to others.

Beyond that I thought I would use the bulk of my Tuesday update to give another nod to a book which all of you fans of epic fantasy will enjoy. With only 12 days remaining and 95 copies left to order, this book needs your help!

Storm of Fury by Andrew Wood is an epic fantasy novel set in a war-torn land besieged by its own god. While avoiding a seemingly endless web of political schemes and plots, a young man must overcome his own lack of skill to confront his deity.

To find out more about this project, visit Storm of Fury’s homepage here: https://www.inkshares.com/projects/storm-of-fury

OR, read more about it now:

If there was one thing in certain in life, it was that man was a sinful creature. It his nature, it permeates his mind and perhaps even his very soul. It is whispered that once, long ago, man could simply ask for forgiveness, and it would be granted freely. But not anymore…

The great, almighty god Na’lek has scorned his creation, angered by their constant failings and unholy acts. Now, his divine rage is made manifest as an immense, supernatural storm. This is the Fury, and its sole purpose is to eradicate mankind.

This eternal war, god against man, has continued for countless years. The Fury has assailed men for so long that even the storm’s origins have grown vague in the minds of the people. This was the era that Kaven was born into.

After nearly two decades of proving himself over and over to be a failure in all he does, Kaven is presented with an opportunity. While the world falls apart around him, Kaven is tasked to go out into the Fury and beg for mankind’s forgiveness, one last time.

But if Kaven can survive the perils within the storm, the anger of his god and the treachery of his fellow man, the secrets that he uncovers may be far too much for him to bear…

And take a look at what John Robin and myself had to say about Storm of Fury: "The world Andrew Wood takes us to with this story is superb and believable. It's a tough act to establish a storm as an antagonist, but Wood does a great job of creating real extensions of this storm that give it a tangible, menacing presence, a la George R. R. Martin's White Walkers or Jordan's Myrdraal. In fact, the mood and tone very much conjured the familiar world of Wheel of Time, where instead of a dark one we have a menacing storm that is just as terrifying. This is fine epic fantasy and I very much hope to see this book in print so I can read it in its entirety." -John Robin, author of Blood Dawn

"A wonderfully immersive example of what epic fantasy should be. Whether describing the fury of a divinely created storm, the horror of monsters and titans, or the love of pastries shared by father and son soldiers it does so in a fast paced but highly detailed way. It will leave you wanting to know more about what are both highly developed characters and a highly detailed world. I can't wait to read the entire book." -Thomas J. Arnold, author of Exile, Magus

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for The Knight Proper

Knights, Gravewalkers, Minstrels and mouldering corpses lying in the mud, tis’ high time we delivered an update worthy of your purview!

We’ve fought, clawed and scraped our way into 5th place, this parade of champions known as “The Sword and Laser Contest”, this morbid celebration concerning implements of death, but also of fantastic writers and their accompanying books – and we duly tip our hat to them.

As such, the competition is fierce, but we shall fortify our gullets with our usual wine of ill-repute and ask for your favor, no, not *that* kind of favor, but the one that involves PRE-ORDERS. Steel thyselves and drag out your friends, family and animal companions (at least the ones in possession of e-mail addresses) and grant us victory! Er, with more PRE-ORDERS, that is! We grovel, we beg, we-

Ok, ok, enough of all that. But yes, the pre-orders. REALLY important.

We leave you with one last bit of THE KNIGHT PROPER trivia for you…  our rabble-rousing minstrel “Cass”, was originally “Cain”, inspired by a character that Matt had originally written for the game, Neverwinter Nights 2.
But Adam, sly agitator that is he is, had the great idea to turn “him” into a “her” and Matt cried and wept inconsolably at first, but then came to see that it was indeed for the better… and we think you’ll agree!

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Ghosts of War

                    Hey guys and gals,

Firstly an apology. I'm not exactly sure where the last 7 weeks have gone to, but things have been a bit all over the place and a lot of stuff has gone by the wayside. As such there hasn't been an update for a while. Well it's now a new year, and with it comes a new focus on getting this book done and out to all of you. So, on with the update.

                    Writing update
As I said above, a lot of stuff has gone by the wayside lately, finding time for writing has been one of those things. This year I'm attacking writing from the angle of it being a Monday to Friday job, with a minimum of 1,000 a day to be written each weekday. So provided I don't add another couple of chapters, the first draft will be done in the next couple of weeks. This is a handy thing too, because:

                    Campaign Update
As of this writing there are only 5 days left in Ghost of War's funding campaign and we're currently sitting at 292 copies sold which is great. Beyond great in fact. In actuality it's miles beyond what I could have hoped for when I set out to do this.

I could extend and shoot for 750 copies sold, but with the recent rate of sales (11 copies sold since the 29th of October), the amount of time I'd have to extend wouldn't be worth it. So I'm sticking with the original end date and I'd imagine, with the work left to do on the book, that it will be getting to you in the second half of 2016.

                    Other Updates

Cover Art - Since Ghosts will be a Quill book, I have to provide the cover art. So I'm currently exploring a few other options in case I (or Inkshares) decide that the current cover doesn't work for whatever reason. I'll keep you all posted with progress on that front.

Sequels - I've been continuing plotting out the sequels to Ghosts over the christmas break (other than Star Wars it's about the only thing I could focus on) and they're starting to take shape. The third book had been especially nebulous for a long time but is really beginning to come together.

Well, I think that will do for now. I plan to get back to doing weekly updates, especially now that things will be ramping up a bit. Look for them on or around Sunday's from now on.

                    Until next time.

PS: If you haven't ordered a copy of Ghosts of War yet, there's still time to do so and get yourself a signed first edition copy.
