Tony Valdez liked an update for Lucky

Dear Readers,

SIX DAYS LEFT before the end of the Nerdist Space Opera Contest!  We had been sitting comfortably at #3 on the leaderboard for about a week when out of nowhere two other books took our spot, pushing us back down to #5.

THIS is the time for us to rally and grab support from any and all corners! Have a coworker who likes to read? Tell them about this novel and this campaign! Walk them through the very simple steps to preorder their copy of Lucky. Have a cousin that likes to donate money to political campaigns? Tell them their $10 is better used here, furthering the creation of novels. Have a library in your neighborhood? Grab an extra copy and donate it to your local library!

In honor of only having SIX DAYS LEFT (imagine me saying that in a loud, dramatically booming voice), CHAPTER SIX will be online for your enjoyment this afternoon! And this time I really mean it - I will get it uploaded in the next two hours so you can read it over dinner after work tonight.

As always, dear Readers, you are the force that is driving this campaign. It is your donations and your willingness to believe in this novel that will make it possible! Don’t let Lucky slip away now - we’re almost there!

- Webster

Tony Valdez liked an update for The Children of the Forest

Hey everyone, it’s time for another update from your’s truly.

First off, I wanted to just take the chance to post this great sketch of ~Euwin Cohmwell~ which will be included in The Children of the Forest’s art booklet. This is the first of three pieces, all drawn by the wonderful Andy Barry. I quite like his style, and can’t wait to show off the other two scenes he will be drawing for the booklet.

Secondly, I have the names of the two chosen winners who will both have a chance to create characters for The Children of the Forest! Barbara Heathcock and Thomas Arnold, you are the lucky winners. I will be reaching out to each of you shortly, to oversee that process. So congratulations, and I look forward to hearing your input!

Finally, work continues on the book. I have begun edits, and looking ahead, March will be devoted to coming as close as possible to finishing the manuscript for final edits. My general updates will be fairly limited until the novel is finished, but I will occasionally drop by to update things where needed, and keep backers informed about the status of the work. I want to thank everyone again for backing The Children of the Forest, and I promise the wait will be worth it~~!

Tony Valdez liked an update for A God in the Shed

      Greetings friends!

My first book with Inkshares, The Life Engineered is released. I still have a lot of promotional work to do with it to keep the spotlight on it, but as far as the heavy lifting is concerned, we are done. Time to focus on the next thing and the next thing is A God in the Shed.

As of this writing, we are 271 orders away from getting published. We have 44 days to get these orders. You’re following this book so I know there’s a good chance you want to see it published. This is why, as of this moment, you are my army.

Starting today, we are going to campaign to get A God in the Shed to 750 pre-orders. Here’s what I have in mind for myself:

      • I’m looking for places where I can talk about A God in the Shed. Podcasts, blogs, events, anything. I’ve got a few things lined up but I’m open to more options if you have them.
      • I will be revamping some of the things you see on the project page to add more content for you and to generate interest.
      • I will be investing in some strategic ads with content creators whom I enjoy and support to hopefully create a dialogue with their audience.
      • I will be mobilizing some of my more militant supporters into pushing A God in the Shed as much as possible. If that’s you, let me know.
What do I expect from you? Very little, yet so very much.

I need you to find one other person and personally guide them into pre-ordering A God in the Shed. It’s simple because who can’t find one friend who likes Fantasy/Horror and likes to support independent authors? It’s difficult because I’m putting the responsibility on you to ask, guide and follow up with them. If even half of you manage to do this, we’ll be in good shape to get published.

Sounds good? What’s in it for you?

      1. If the book gets published and you ordered at the Deity level, you get your name in the book as a Patron.
      2. If you use a referral through the ’Recommend Via’ buttons at the top of the page, you get Inkshares credits that you can put towards other books.
      3. For each book you pre-order, you will get an entry into a random draw. For every successful recommendation, you will get another entry into this raffle. The winner of this raffle will have his name and likeness included in the book as a minor character that gets tragically murdered.
      4. You get to be on the ground floor of a trilogy that will, I hope, be pretty damn awesome.
I’ll be sending occasional reminders and updates on the progress we’re making. You guys have been awesome with me so far and it seems greedy to ask for more, but the sooner I can stop promoting, the sooner I can get back to writing and I think that’s best for everyone.

Go forth my army! Let’s get things published!

      Also; thanks. You’re all awesome.

Tony Valdez liked an update for So You Might Be a Vampire

Greetings followers!  I’m still alive and kicking and have been locked up doing way too much writing.  After the lack of funding through our campaign here, I’ve sat down with my sidekick/editor Nikki and we’ve been discussing a dew things that have come up regarding the novels.

Firstly I’ve been trying to finish book two in the series "SO YOU MIGHT NOT BE HUMAN" and despite my careful planning for the plot, my "just 6 more chapters" have turned into 20 chapters and I’m only now wrapping up some loose plot threads that have popped up.  I’m honestly not trying to tie up each loose end, leaving enough of them free to have an impact on book three in the series, but these things happen when you have characters like Bob who just don’t give a shit about proper story-structure.

One of the things that popped up in discussion was a heavy edit/rewrite of SO YOU MIGHT BE A VAMPIRE especially since we have this opportunity on Inkshares to get valuable feedback from people who are more than readers.  We’ve also been working on a feature film adaptation of the novel and going through that process has raised a lot of questions and introduced new scenes that I really wish I had written the first time around.

So with that in mind, we’re looking to relaunch our campaign in about 2 months while I go through chapter by chapter.  I’d like to invite your input and feedback during this process.  I know there are a hell of a lot of REALLY, REALLY good projects here on Inkshares and they’re getting some great attention, lots of stuff to read (hell I’m reading and following a few myself of course), but I know that SO YOU MIGHT BE A VAMPIRE can be one of them.

Looking forward to your feedback.  I’ll be pulling the uploaded chapters and posting the new offerings pretty soon.

          Hahaha.

          Haha.

          Ha. So much news...

First of all, there have been sightings of a strange and hilarious creature, stalking local bookstores praying on the minds of readers. Witnesses have placed it at Powell’s Books in Portland...

...at Unabridged Books in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago...

...and at City Lit Books in Logan’s Square also in Chicago.

If any of these locations are near or known to you, authorities recommend you take public safety into your own hands by capturing these potentially dangerous abominations.

Yeah, so enough of that. My book is out!!! Like not officially or anything, but it can be located in physical places. That’s great.

You know what else is great? This review from Publisher’s Weekly.

What’s more...I just discovered that the review feature on Amazon is up and working for my book. Why is this important? Here’s an infographic:

So yes, between 50 and 100 reviews (another number I’ve heard thrown around for algorithms. Please, please, PLEASE...go to Amazon and leave a rating and review. Even if it’s just "I liked it" *Five Stars.* ESPECIALLY if it’s just "I liked it" *Five Stars.* If you already posted a review on Goodreads or Netgalley, copy and paste is your friend. This is incredibly important for the success of the book, especially for a first-time, unknown author such as myself.

And just a reminder again, that the official launch party for An Unattractive Vampire will be at Bucket O’ Blood Books and Records on March 18th at 7 PM. Here’s the Facebook event page so that you know this is totally a real thing and not just another black market toe harvesting scam.

          Almost done.

There’s about a week left to go in the current Inkshares Space Opera contest. Once you’re done writing a rave review about how my book changed your life in ways you don’t fully comprehend, consider helping another person live this dream of stress and uncomfortable self-promotion by purchasing a book like...

The maddening tale of a so-called "round planet" in The Madness of Mr. Butler by Michael Haase
Space truckers and conspiracy in Lucky by RH Webster
The dangerous and nearly extinct human being in The Life Interstellar by Zack Jordan
Interstellar inebriation in Space Tripping by Patrick Edwards
Retro spies and rocket ships in To Live and Die in Avalon by Jason Chestnut

          And again...thank you all.

            Dear Readers,

I hope you have enjoyed Chapter 5! I received some very good feedback from my beta readers on the chapter and am anticipating that it can only improve through the on-going editing process.

We have EIGHT DAYS days left before the end of the Nerdist Space Opera contest on March 15. On the one hand, that’s not much time...but on the other hand, think of all the good things that can happen in a week. Readers, you are the driving force behind this campaign. Without your faithful following and contribution, we would never have made it this far.

This being said, I would like to sincerely request that if you are following this project but have not yet made a preorder, please consider doing so before the end of the Nerdist contest.  Winning this contest means that we will get automatically published by Inkshares, complete with editing and promotion and all those wonderful things we want to see happen to our favorite stories.

As an incentive, I will be uploading Chapter 6 later this week (probably Wednesday or Thursday, depending on how work goes) and then Chapter 7 on Saturday afternoon (also, it can be our lucky number 7...see what I did there?).  Stay tuned for exciting developments in the lives of our heroes as they fly across the stars!

I wish happy reading to all of you!
