Guys! Insane support in the zero hour.
That was an incredible finish for the number two spot. I’m bouncing off the walls right now. I could not have done it without you guys, thank you all SO SO much. I will keep you all posted on what happens next.
But right now, I have to throw pants on, do a celebratory tequila shot, and then go pick up my son from school!
CHEERS!!!
Greetings Destiny-followers,
The end is very much nigh and the contest is getting hot, hot, hot. Friday midnight is the witching hour, and for Destiny Imperfect to remain upon this earthly realm we need to keep ahead of two worthy titles. Right now we are 2nd. This is very good, and this is all thanks to you. But 3rd and 4th are within 6 orders of Destiny’s position. Things are, most definitely, getting tight.
So where to from here? For those of you that have leapt aboard the crazy train that is Destiny Imperfect, the answer is easy. Think of one person that would benefit from the eye-opening, mind-searing, cultural phenomenon that Destiny Imperfect is … errr… destined to be. Take them gently by the hand, ease their way through Inkshares maze and guide them to the pre-order button. The next part is up to them … you can lead a person to Inkshares, but …
For those that are at the Destiny Imperfect station but have yet to buy a ticket, now would be a very meaningful time to do so. Your pre-order could make the difference between Destiny careening boldly into the future or being stuck at one of the sidings of life. You can be a difference maker, and you can say you were there at the beginning. Do it for Destiny!
Have a great day!
Cheers,
Peter
This week I’d like to use my author spotlight to bring your attention to one of the top-level entrants in the Nerdist competition: Destiny Imperfect.

This book promises to be an absolute mindscrew. The idea of a world where virtual reality and actual reality are so closely intertwined that it’s a challenge just to differentiate between the two is so full of potential. The places this story can explore from a psychological standpoint are endless, and based only on what I’ve seen so far, it looks like Destiny Imperfect is going to throw me into a full-on existential crisis. But in a good way.
Seriously check out this book. I want it on my shelf right now.
I know I said that my previous update was going to be the last one until the contest came to a close but I just received a note from fellow Inkshares author Christopher Irvin that a guest blog post all about SQUIDS IN that we put together a while back has finally gone live. You can read it here - http://christopherirvin.net/2016/07/13/inkshares-interview-matthew-poat-squids-in/
Christopher is currently funding his illustrated novel WRESTLETOWN and it both sounds and looks absolutely awesome. I certainly have my physical copy ordered and I would encourage you to go and order a copy too - https://www.inkshares.com/books/wrestletown?referral_code=9df46898
With regards to the contest, it looks like 5th place is out of reach now after a surge of support for "Mothering : The Game" but I don’t begrudge that. The book is wonderful and I myself have ordered a few physical copies.
Now I just need to try and secure 6th place which may prove tough since both "SideScroller" and "A Soldier’s Crest : Imperium" are currently nipping at my heels. If only I could get Hendrix the octopus to help out, but he’s gone AWOL.
Matthew
By my reckoning there is two days left in the Nerdist competition and SQUIDS IN currently requires a minimum of 56 pre-orders to get a top 3 finish. Sadly there are only 55 followers who have yet to commit to ordering, so I don’t think we’re gonna make it. I would love to get back up to 5th place however and that seems very achievable. Another 4 pre-orders will do it :)
GREAT NEWS! The second SQUIDS IN raffle prize winner Brian Guthrie has received his octopus and sent me this photo....
We may not finish top 3 in the contest but Hendrix has now strategically positioned his offspring in the UK, US and Germany. In revenge for not winning, he is going to unleash a deadly virus and there is nothing you can do to stop him. Just be sure to go outside and spray paint a "10 Octopuses" symbol on the wall before you go. It may help to educate a future generation about where it all went wrong:)
Thank you guys for all your support throughout the contest. This will be my last update before the result is announced.
Matthew
