Just to add something, Id really like to hear what @A.C. Weston or one of the bigger authors like @Rick Heinz  or @EvanGraham have to say about this :D

Robert Batten liked an update for The Living God

    Hello all!

I have a treat for you! You guys have been great, and I thought I would share with you the prologue and first chapter for a story I worked on while taking a break from The Living God. It was a NaNoWriMo project from two years ago.

    The Seven Kings:
Nina learned many things when she died and woke in Argaros. The first was that Death was dead and the delicate balance of Purgatory had been destroyed. The second was that she had been there many times before.

25 years since awakening in Argaros, Nina has settled in the capital city Mourning, acquainting herself with the art of theater and thievery while working at Orthen’s Solace House. One day, Aris, ruler of Purgatory, summons the Solace House to entertain the Seven Kings. It is there that the curse of Nina’s many lives surfaces and sets her on a quest to bring Death back. A quest she’s failed every time before.

@Tahani Nelson just to set the record straight, this wasn’t something that changed: 100% of pre-orders in Quill  & Inkshares prior to successful funding have always to the production of the book, and were not distributed to authors.

So, almost the start of a new week; getting close to 25 amazing followers (thank you!) and I’ve spent some of my weekend designing a new draft cover for Spectrum!

Very strong opening that thrusts you into a dark world facing the consequences of dark deeds.
          The Lion in Darkness
A priest who must murder to keep living, a blind boy with a sword and vengeance in his heart, a war the likes of which the world has never seen, and the thing that was a man but who would be a god pulling all the strings

Armed. With torches. And the brother of the girl he’d just strangled to death surely at their head.

Ah. If that’s the case then it wasn’t a scam at all-- just an unfortunate situation.  I didn’t know about the change in royalties, though. That, however is for a different thread.

I believe - and I could be wrong - that 100% of the funds from the first 250 orders of a campaign (for Quill, or 750 orders for full publishing) go to book production. I don’t think the split of royalties between Inkshares, the author, and any other collaborator starts until after those production levels.

So maybe Thane Studios will get nothing, anyway?

That’s beyond sketchy. I’m sorry to hear that you took this blow, Tahani. The Last Faoii is a fine book that deserves to see success, and its a shame to see people opportunistically trying to leech off its success.
