Hey guys!
The Living God finished its 3rd round of dev edits a few weeks ago. I’m waiting to hear about next steps, I suspect it will go back through a copy edit. I’m also anxiously awaiting the new cover! I haven’t seen or heard anything yet.
In the meantime, while you await the release of the book in March 2019, I’m posting chapters of a book I started working on a while back before getting The Living God published took up a majority of my free time. It was my NaNoWriMo project for 2014! I dusted it off and I’m polishing it up for you. Check it out! Be sure to follow to get updates on new chapters.
The Seven Kings of Purgatory
Nina learned two things when she woke in Purgatory: Death was dead and she’d been there many times before.
With no one to usher the dead to their proper resting place, Nina has been trapped in a cycle of death and rebirth. Having burned through her allotted reincarnations, she must find a way to right the natural course of Purgatory, or risk fading out of existence forever.

I am consumed with finishing MINE, and heading toward a self-imposed deadline of Oct. 31 (because, the synchronicity, one year since the end of the 2017 Horror Contest) for finishing the 2nd draft. Tightening up the plot, working through some continuity issues, building that arc. Strangely enough, Ruining Boise finds itself in 3rd place with 10 followers. The fact that we’re still in the top 3, but 240 pre-orders away from any chance of a Show in this thing gives me very mixed feelings. Clearly Gumshoe Rules has run so far away from the pack that he it’s a "shoe-in" for 1st. And Christopher Huang, he’s got the chops, and surely deserves Place. But maybe, with your support, we might be able to put together enough orders for Mike and I to get a deal with this project. One thing I can tell you about our discussions on the story is to provide pure characters in a straightforward Crime/Mystery trajectory. You might want to join in the fun, too, as the drama between Mike and I unfolds, the real story being can two writers of our specific temperaments actually collaborate to finish this book? If we can, it will be killer. And yes, location is important, think of it as another character...it’s in the fricking title!
Go now, pre-order, you are in control of our destiny. Feel the power. Toy with it, watch us jump and beg.

Hi everybody,
My apologies on what was probably a surprise today when those who’ve pre-ordered JIHADI BRIDE had their contributions returned. If I can make a long story short, when JIHADI BRIDE entered the Inkshares Mystery and Thriller contest almost three weeks ago, I believed that was the best avenue toward publication. Despite a strong start in the contest, over the past week I’ve since become convinced that this is not the right time or method to seek publication and so I decided to drop out of the contest and remove JIHADI BRIDE from funding status so that all backers would receive a refund.
I am extremely grateful and humbled for all the support during the campaign, and I would like to apologize for having wasted your time. One thing I’ve learned so far as an author is how precious everyone’s time is and consequently, how big an ask it is to support a crowdfunding campaign, or read a book, especially when there are so many other things you could spend your time on. For that reason, I hope you’ll give me the benefit of the doubt when I say that ceasing the campaign was not a decision I took lightly. That said, I’m also extremely confident that this is not the end of JIHADI BRIDE’s journey toward publication, and I hope you’ll allow me to pass on further developments when they happen. Conversely, I’ll also pass on updates through my Facebook page, www.facebook.com/AlastairLuft.
Again, thank you for all your support and all the best,
Alastair
