Jane-Holly Meissner liked an update for Human Resources

Good evening everyone!

Another week of the competition is drawing to a close. The Launchpad Competition is fierce, but we are holding on to our place! There is now one month left until the crowdfunding competition closes, and I’ll be campaigning until the last second - I’ll need to, as I know the talented authors nipping at my heels won’t ease up.

Thank you again to all of you. Incredibly, Human Resources now has 231 pre-orders, from 201 separate readers! Another nineteen orders and it will qualify for Inkshares Quill publishing. That’s right - nineteen to go and the book is guaranteed to be published. We won’t stop there, but that is a huge milestone and it is in striking distance!

Why not relax at "Quill?"

If Human Resources qualifies for quill (receives at least 250 pre-orders), it will be published. However, at this level, Inkshares only provides a copy edit, the book is print-on-demand (as opposed to mass production), and it doesn’t get actively marketed to book stores. It’s still an amazing opportunity, but if we win the competition, the book will get a lot more love...

If we win the competition (or if HR receives at least 750 pre-orders), it will also receive developmental edits (super important), tailored design, mass production, and marketing.  I will be ecstatic if we qualify for Quill publishing, but that won’t stop me from setting my sights higher (and ensuring you receive the best possible book I can give you).

I have something special planned for next week’s update, in the meantime keep being awesome :)

Goodnight!

Robert

Are you guys reaching out to the people on the list confirming they’re even still interested? I’m sure some of the people whose campaigns have ended either rushed a book that wasn’t really ready into the campaigning stage because they wanted to hop onto whatever contest was going at the time, or they might have been discouraged by their loss and shelved the entire idea without intending to return.
Also, I know a lot of people, especially the ones who reached or almost reached Quill, are pretty much campaigned-out, and a lot of the ones who never even got that far failed originally because they don’t really have the understanding or means to run a strong campaign. It’s going to be a really uneven playing field. Is anything going to be done to even the odds, or help the contestants campaign more effectively?
Lastly, won’t some of the books that have reached Quill status have adjusted pricing? If two books are competing for pre-orders and one of them only costs $8 while the other is $10, there’s a huge handicap there.

      Dear All,

Unfortunately, it’s taken us a bit longer than we expected to tally up all the nominations and get them down to 25.

Query to you guys – if we could add more and expand it to 50, would you want that?

      Adam.

Sorry to everyone who just saw the comment count go up twice and thought the announcement may have been made. I added nothing to this conversation. :)

Brilliant prose coupled with a young, naive main character makes for a otherworldly read, and one I cannot wait to get my hands on

Super mega thanks to Elan and the book club for making this their newest pick.

Just a little background (which piggyback’s on that catch in Elan’s introductory post): This book was born out of (and written as a response to) my primary frustration with the way people discuss like it’s sports or a game or some zero-sum showdown between absolute right and absolute wrong. When I introduced the book to people, one of the most common questions I heard (besides "Is Trump in it?") (Spoiler: No) was about which side it took. When I explained that it didn’t take a side or bash a side, most were relieved, but some were genuinely perplexed how a book making fun of political arguments could stay neutral while doing so and still venture to be funny.

So in that vein, I’d love to hear how the book’s perspective compares to your own (both leading up to Election Day and the tumultuous week — can you believe it’s only been a week? — since). Speaking personally, my FB/Twitter feeds are burning hotter after the election than before, and I’ve got enough material for a trilogy now. How about you?

Really exciting idea. Can’t wait to see how the contest works.

Big kudos to Inkshares for doing something that is so driven by, and for, the community :)
