Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Children of the Wise Oak

All, thank you for the support. Things have been progressing well... however, I need to shift up a gear if I am to hit my goal.

To that end, I pledge to give £1 ($1.45) to Cancer Research for every pre-order for the remainder of February.

--- Regardless of whether I hit my funding goal or not ----

I’m excited about the sequel. The heroine, Gwenn, is currently at the top of a mountain in the alps. Later she is going to jump off. But I can’t focus on that because I am spending too much time asking my friends to check out my book.

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Transilience

    Hello!

Last night felt like the slow decline into what promised to be an unpleasant head cold. Today, I feel much better. Needless to say, I fully expected to be miserable when I awoke on this blustery morning!

Has anyone ever told you that "you had a case of the Mondays?"

I attribute my miraculous recovery to single malt whisky, of which I had a wee dram before going to bed. In this case, Caol Isla - a 12 year old Islay. Homer was right about alcohol...

You cannot imagine how honored I am to have been selected as the Thriller Night Syndicate’s book of the month. Thank you one and all in the syndicate for supporting Transilience.

I’m your book of the month, read the fine print later.

For the longest time, my friends and I clinged to the possibility of a second Lovage album. However, the confluence of such a collection of talent could never hope to be replicated. Lightning, as they say, does not strike in the same place twice. If you are unfamiliar with them, check out YouTube. The quote above is a line from Book of the Month.

Thriller Night’s support of Transilience has pushed the number of orders beyond the number 50. Which means, I owe some lucky supporter a sketch! For the syndicate, I will include everyone’s name in the group for a chance at the prize.

I am away next week for a well-deserved respite in a much warmer climate. However, I will draw a name at random this week and announce the winner. I must admit, I am excited about this...and slightly nervous because a sketch for a potential stranger is way outside my comfort zone.

Fifty-one orders also means Transilience is only 49 away from a chance for a supporter to win a commissioned painting. The winner picks the subject matter and I execute in a style reflective of my own particular....ummm....

    Idiom sir?

Yes, right. Idiom....although it feels like we are using it incorrectly. No matter!! On with the show!

So get the word out there! Tell your mom! Tell your dad! Tell your neighbors! And the person who takes your order at the drive-through. Tell your pets about it on the odd chance they save Timmy from a well and then he can go on to tell others about Transilience! Tell Facebook about it and all the other Internets out there!

    Cheers!
    Kev

      Boulderoleros!

I made a world map!  You probably recognize a few of these continents.  That one there in the center is where the book takes place.  To the southwest is where the Keima’i people come from.  To the southeast is Rhyfell Proper.  The Grey Crag is too small to see on this map, but it’s part of a triangle extending from the southern tip of Yhur and Rhyfell Proper.  The Immortals and pretty much all life comes from that island to the north west of the Ma’i Islands and to the northwest of that is where the Dwarves and Uurians (centaurs) are banished when the Immortals rise up against the Uurians and take back their sacred cities and lands.  That charred little spot all the way to the southwest?  We don’t talk about that.  You guys are great!  Much love and a thousand thank yous!

      Earth, Sea, Empire.

        Hi all,

Daughter of the Mara is closing in on 90 pre-orders! Woot! Thank you all for your support and please continue to share this book with anyone who is interested in fantasy stories, nightmares, and strong female characters.

I love this community and am grateful to Inkshares for the ability to share my work with a group of writers and readers who love fantasy as much as I do. While I may never be as awesome at crowd funding as some of my fellow authors, I’ve come to embrace Inkshares more as place where I can give my work a broader audience than as place to get published. In this vein, I am going to spend less time this month drumming up pre-orders and more time actually writing. It has been months since I’ve touched the second book in the Mara Chronicles, Heir to the Dreamscape, and I am also working on a world building document, which I’ve been calling the Mara Compendium, so I am going to take some time to focus on those. Also, if you haven’t already, please check out the Facebook page for Daughter of the Mara where I will be posting updates on this work as well as interesting items related to the origin of the book. I am also currently updating my website and I will update you all when that process is complete.

         Happy Monday!

        Alex
