James Rasile liked an update for Reset the System

Hello new Inkshares friends! I wanted to let you know that Reset the System moved quickly from a novel idea to a manuscript draft this spring, after I had strong encouragement from a constant reader and fierce critic that I have trusted for a long time. I am enjoying working with this manuscript so much, that I even had a temporary cover worked up (available for your viewing pleasure now) and am contemplating launching a campaign for funding, perhaps later this summer, or - and this is my preference - in September and through the fall season.

I recently completed the first draft of the book at the cabin this weekend, though some things are a little raw, and I am planning to release a few chapters over the next few weeks as I re-draft the book, to keep you interested and hopefully to encourage you to share the book with your own networks! If you are at all interested in Science Fiction or posthumanism, then I think you are really going to like this story. But even if those things are not your bag (baby), then I’m sure you know other peeps on Inkshares that might be into it.

I am looking forward to getting to know many of you as much as I can in the coming weeks and months! So far my favourite thing about Inkshares, is that it reminds me of a larger (much larger) version of a great advanced creative writing class I was once part of, with many members of the community very generous with their time and patience, commenting on each other’s writing and providing some constructive criticism. That by the way, is a personal goal of mine...to try to chime in every now and then with some useful feedback about the actual nuts and bolts of the writing, and not only to shine people on...though, every now and then, someone either needs or deserves a bit of shining. I would love to hear from some of you when the first full chapter of Reset the System goes up this weekend! What I have there now was just a teaser while I was finishing the novel draft.

If you are interested in learning a bit more about me, check out my blog, also a work in progress...or of course, DM me and we can chat writing and favourite books. Don’t be shy to push your own projects on me too as they develop...I am a voracious reader by trade and choice.

Best wishes and happy summer,

Jeremy R. Strong

Hey Hey Readers! I’ve got a surprise for you.  Here is yet another piece of concept art from one of my new artists!  What do you think of her depiction of the Morrighan?

Well, I keep telling myself not to bother people, but another huge thing has happened...

I just finished up an interview with Alicia Smoke at Examiner.com! I’m going to be featured in an article on the website! As soon as I have the link I will let you know, so be on the look out for that.

Right now we are 6 days ahead of the projection at 84 orders! That means in 8 days I’ve had 84 orders, and I’m like: So many people have ordered more than one copy, Billy, Jason, Johnathan, Joseph, Joseph again, and Leah! In the guest blog post http://apotheosisstudios.com/blog/2016/5/23/the-sleeping-man-guest-post-by-stephen-carigan I’ve used some of your names in supplemental history of the world.

Thank you in advance and let’s keep this up! Keep sharing, keep recommending, and keep cornering people in the street and several implying something bad will happen to people if they don’t order, you know, the legally gray area! Just kidding, mostly.

      Sweet dreams,

      Stephen Carignan

I just love it when characters cross genres, especially when they "do it" to support their fellow characters. The imposing Sandor Clegane, aka The Hound, has graciously crossed over from his lofty high fantasy perch in support of his sci-fi brother Mat of Mission 51. The Hound would like you to place your pre-order ASAP!

Seriously, you should place your pre-order. We should not deny a man his dying wish!

Thank you, Sandor, for your support! :-)

James Rasile liked an update for Origin

So, I’ve gained quite a few more followers than I thought in such a short amount of time. Everyone seems to be really active and supportive on this site; it’s refreshing considering, well, this is the internet.

So to bring everyone up to speed and to smooth out my thoughts on what I’m working on:

I have a rough draft already scribbled by hand into a Moleskine, and now I am working on scribing this into digital format while also polishing, adding detail, developing the characters, etc; all that writery stuff.

I have plans for multiple... sequels? They don’t involve the same characters, necessarily, but they do take place within the same universe/world. I have a solid idea for a second book, and some murky ideas on a third and fourth (plant zombies?).

The books aren’t just about the plot, but the plot helps define the world around it. I am really writing books about the state of man in the future and what everything has turned into and the whys and hows are up to the reader to figure out with some nudging clues from yours truly. I guess the plots are pretty cool too.

My writing has heavy influences from Dungeons and Dragons, Lovecraft, Asimov, Douglas Adams, I don’t know, maybe other stuff. Mainly the tabletop RPG is what drove me to write. The Origin universe was originally a campaign setting I was going to run as a first time DM in which I told the players to come up with anything they want to be and I would figure out rules. This necessitated an infinite universe where anything could be possible, and so it is. Science Fiction mixed with fantasy elements the Origin universe is essentially the D&D fantasy universe fast forwarded by a few thousand years, with our own universe intertwined. Everything that happens in the real world is canon in Origin.

This is a lot to read, so good on ya for sticking it out if you’re still reading. I am learning a lot about writing as I go and what I have down so far is much better than the sample draft I have uploaded. I hope to go back soon and rewrite the first three chapters, but not from the ground up, just some more polishing.

          So thank you for following,

          Mike

            So... this happened.

That’s G.(LORIOUS) Derek Adams, author of ASTEROID MADE OF DRAGONS, and myself (left) at XCON World Comic Convention in Myrtle Beach this past weekend. We sold some books, had some fun, and saw some fantastic cosplay (see below).

There also may or may not have been a lightly attended panel about crowdfunding hosted by those two handsome devils above.

            Also...this happened.

SOOO...FRIENDLY REMINDER - Please review AGELESS on Amazon and Goodreads

And, AGELESS ebook has been lowered to $2.99 for some time now. Share it with people you love! Or people that you hate...just get the word out.

Thanks everyone! KEEP SCROLLING FOR SOME COSPLAY!

James Rasile liked an update for First on Mars

              Hello all!

Sorry I’ve been so quite over the past week (or you’re welcome I should say). I’ve been frantically writing and working on a secret project that I will tell you about later. I just posted Chapter 5 and part of 6. I was holding it back because it reveals so much of the plot, but then I just decided to share it, because ... reasons.

You will notice some of this book is heavily influenced by the fact of the Presidential contest currently going on in this country. I want to be clear, this book is not meant to be some kind of political statement. It is not meant to pick sides, it’s only meant to reflect on the world as it is and probably will be. In fact, in Chapter 7, the other extreme of the political spectrum is protesting NASA. This was not done on purpose, it just happened naturally as part of the plot.

Please take a look and let me know what you think: either by email, twitter, comment, or direct-message. I respond to feedback and I don’t bite, I promise.

              Thanks for your support!

Want to help get the word out on Tantalus Depths? Here’s a new poster you can print out and share. Feel free to post (with proper permission) in schools, shop, libraries, anywhere you can think of!
Getting visibility is still the greatest challenge of this project, and anything you can do will help.

You can download the original PDF file here: feel free to share it anywhere and everywhere!

Don’t forget to keep sharing in person and on social media as well!

                  Hi Everyone!

Quick bit of exciting news - the file is off to the printer today.  There is no officially nothing to be done other than sit on my hands and wait for my babies to come back home.  The initial print run is going to be eight thousand copies.  So tell everyone you know to buy one too.  We need to move some inventory!

I’m also sitting on another exciting piece of news just waiting for final confirmation - look for another update in the next several days.

                  Cheers
                  Dave
