All 200 of you are AWESOME!!! Thank you for following me, and thank you for being just SPECTACULAR human beings! I’ll be posting a part of the sequel in draft form later today. Feel free to give it a looksee, if that’s of interest.
Well, I got one last extension, this is now the final 30 days of my campaign. If I don’t make it to Quill, I will gracefully bow out...but, I still believe we can make it! I will be doing a lot of local promotion here in my hometown. I still got a bunch of postcards and business cards to give out and I’m hitting up local sci-fi/fantasy clubs.
This entire thing has been a big learning experience for me and no matter what happens, I’m going to take everything I’ve learned into the future, whether I decide to crowdfund another novel or not. I’m leaning toward the former since I do have a draft up on Inkshares that I’d like to pursue at some point. I now know what has worked, what has kind of worked and what hasn’t worked at all. I think it’s a different journey for everyone and maybe when this thing is done I can share my experiences with the community, whether I’m successful or not.
But, again, I think we CAN be successful and I’m pulling out all the stops to see that happen! Regardless of the outcome, I’m sure someone can benefit from sharing my experiences with both the Nerdist contest and the subsequent campaign and I plan on putting that all down in writing when the time comes.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me thus far, it means the world to me. To those who haven’t pre-ordered yet, now’s your chance! Help me make Quill! You’re doing more than getting a great retro science fiction novel, you’re also helping someone’s dream come true.
Thank you!
Jason
Today I thought I would share some of the nice things various people have said about SQUIDS IN during its campaign, not just to give myself a much needed ego boost going into the final week of the contest but also to show the level of support that other people have shown for this project over the past few weeks. Thanks guys!
A hilariously unique concept, engagingly written and adorably illustrated. Also gaming, profanity, and a naughty monkey. Sign me up! Jaye Milius
The opening excerpt of ’Squids In’ is packed with humor and over-the-top awkwardness. So obviously, I’m enjoying it immensely! Ken Lindsey
Big fan of the man and the book. A game playing cephalopod - what more could you want? Pre-order now! Peter Ryan
This is so creative. I could hardly believe the premise when I first read it, then I continued reading... and I was hooked! Stephanie Brooke
Yes, please. J. Danielle Dorn
An octopus gamer?! Yes please. Brian Guthrie
I’ve certainly not seen a concept like this before, and it’s absolutely great! Give it a look, and consider a pre order! H. Wardrope
Okay, this exactly what I needed. What a riot! You need a fun read at the end of the day, and this fits the bill. Lauren Drube
Very fun read! Check it out Dann Matias
THIS Thad Woodman
Somewhere, OCTODAD IS SMILING! Dom L
Love it Claireg24
A slacker surprised by an octopus in the pool, I’m curious if they will eat snacks and play games. can’t wait to find out! come check it out! Joshua Griffith
A great book from a great Author. One not to miss. Jamie
A great Read! Nell Walton
This is my daddy’s book. He tells me it is very good but that I’m not allowed to read it yet because it’s not a children’s book. William Poat
I’ve competed in E-sports and the twitch-factor required for top tier fame is insane. Squids In hits on a funny and sarcastic note of gaming. Who is really behind that keyboard typing in ’gg.’? I’m rooting for the cephalopod myself and you should as well. For too long E-Sport dominance has been held by specific regions! It’s time for a new champion to rise and crush the competition in the name eight-legged critters everywhere. Rick Heinz
A squid named Hendrix turns out to be a heck of a competitive gamer. This is my kind of book! Tony Valdez
Although I highly doubt an Octopus could beat me in Dota2, Starcraft, or even Hearthstone, I look forward to seeing Poat pull it off! Jamison Stone
Loving this hilarious concept! Check it out! Chelsea C. Moye

Author spotlight!
This week, I’d like to direct your attention to the fascinating dark fantasy Borehole Bazaar: A Vow Unbroken, by Kendra Namednil

This is a fantasy epic of a different breed. Familiar fantasy creatures coexist and interact in unfamiliar but truthful-seeming ways in a world where one must tread carefully amidst hostile forces on all sides, at all times. Kendra expertly sets the tone and breathes atmosphere into this masterwork of dark fantasy. This isn’t a fantasy land for escapists: this is a brutal, savage land full of danger and catastrophe. In a world like this, where everything is at odds with you no matter who you are...just imagine what kind of hero can arise.
Get this book to Quill, because I really want to read it.
Also, Tantalus Depths is only 4 pre-orders away from 400. Just saying ;)
Eid Mubarak to all Muslim supporters of SQUIDS IN. Peace and happiness to you all.
Unfortunately the book has dropped back into 5th place following a surge of support for Peter Ryans excellent "Destiny Imperfect" but it is still within spitting distance of finishing within the top 3. Just 16 pre-orders will see Hendrix the Octopus back up there and on the road to publication. If SQUIDS IN fails to finish in the top 3, this is what will become of Hendrix...

Don’t let this happen to Hendrix, pre-order SQUIDS IN today.
Matthew
Greetings Destiny-followers,
The final countdown has begun. And, as with all countdowns, there’s a feeling of expectation mingled with terror. Destiny-followers have responded magnificently over the past 24 hours and we are now in 4th overtaking Matthew Poats excellent Squids In.
So, where are we right now? Here’s the snapshot. There are 9 days left. We’re 4th . There are currently only 10 orders between us and 3rd. And I’d love your help getting there. $10 is all it takes! If the project doesn’t hit its goal, then it’s your money back. Hit the link and see if Destiny Imperfect is a project you can get behind. Also, if you’ve already pre-ordered (many thanks), it’d be great if you could share Destiny Imperfect with your friends and family - they could make all the differrence!
You have all been wonderful. Have a great day!
Cheers,
Peter
Hello all!
There are only 9 DAYS left in the contest and things are already shaking up. Although I’m still in 2nd place, Peter Ryan’s excellent Destiny Imperfect is creeping up the ladder (only 5 behind me!). I wish there was room for all three of us, but there are only 2 spots up for grabs. I am asking each and every one of you to pre-order a copy if you haven’t done so already or to help spread the word. If you know somebody that likes video games and dragons, chances are they’ll enjoy AYSYWTQ?
As a remind, those who pre-order will receive a FREE short story titled "Mother of All," in addition to a FREE digital painting. I worked very hard on AYSYWTQ? and I want nothing more than to see this story published one day.
Let’s make sure Maggie defeats Amasarok once and for all ;) Thank you.
Best,
アリサちゃん
Good Wednesday to all! I wish everyone success on their endeavors and tons of good tidings are slinging your way!
This week’s offering is again offered on a Wednesday (and I do apologize for that), but it is a very good little piece. Well, it takes place in the same world, in the same nation as that of my book, and at roughly the same time. There is some reference to skulls and injury and such, so, as always, give it a read before turning it loose on any unsuspecting young ones.
And thank you again for continuing to follow Borehole Bazaar! If you feel like these short stories are worth supporting, even if the book is not your thing, let me know! Also, if you would like a printed and spiral bound version, just pre-order twice (they can be e-copies) and send me your mailing address. I’ll put little illustrations in the margins and mail them out to you as soon as I have your address and know your desire!
The stories thus far are
-->;;;;; A Simple Game
And, as always, I wish you, every last one of you, a marvelous time and a wonderful afternoon! If there’s anything I may do to aid you, please just Direct Message me or grab my attention on Facebook!
Although I’ve become a poor blogger with no sense of schedule over the last year or two, I still have a blog which counts several hundred page-views even when I don’t post, every month. Much more when I do. Starting this coming monday (very much in honor of Draftshares which has so recently ended) I would like to invite Inkshares authors the chance to display themselves and their projects on my blog. Basically it would be an author profile and an introduction to their stories, with one or two images of their choosing.
Obviously, I don’t promise any specific results. It’s only a chance to spread the word of your project on another tiny piece of this infinite little internet of ours. If you are interested in taking part, message me here or post on this forum thread. I can’t say that everyone will be able to do this, since I’ll only be posting one profile per week, but I’ll do my best to spread the love!
If there is enough interest, I might even turn it into two posts a week; one for drafts, and one for projects already in the pre-order phase.
Please let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas about this!
