Tony Valdez liked an update for Lucky

PS: Sorry to be a pain, but I totally forgot to mention in my first update today that I reconfigured the chapters that are available on the Inkshares page. They should be in order now. If you happen to check the page and see that they’re not, would you mind letting me know? Either comment on this update or tweet to me @RH_Webster.

Thanks again, all of you.

    SO MUCH NEWS, SPACE CREW.

First, About That Little Green Bar!
Thanks to the amazing crew at Inkshares, and some fellow authors who were more than helpful explaining things to me that I initially derped over, this campaign has been extended to September 5!

I now have all summer to stress and fidget over this, but also to come up with some new marketing strategies. If you’re good at that sort of thing, please get in touch. I’m relying on my Crew to get this book fully-funded.

    Second, About Orders Placed TODAY
Given the devastating fire happening right now in Fort MacMurray, Alberta, I’m matching orders today with donations to the Canadian Red Cross. If you were thinking about picking up extra copies, you can support two causes in one go by ordering before midnight EST tonight.

Third—Free Comic Book Day is Coming!
And the comic is nearly complete. Here’s the first page in full colour. I’ll be sending out the link to you guys between Friday night and Saturday to view the whole thing.

Fourth, This Month is Mental Health Awareness Month.
While I think we should talk about it all the time, it’s great that we spend this month in recognition, and get to hear voices we wouldn’t normally hear talking about their experiences.

I plan to share some of my mental health story on my blog in the near future, but I’d also like to hear from you. If you’d like a chance to share your story, please let me know, and I’ll reserve a section in a future newsletter for you, because we’re a Crew that supports one another.

With that said, I’d like to wish you all a happy Star Wars day!

Your Significantly De-Stressed Space Captain from Space Canada,
    -AC

Dear friends, readers and backers of Trekonomics,

I just received my copies in the mail this morning. I believe you will receive yours soon (if you have not pre-ordered yet, you can still do it). The cover by Jenny Bostic and John Powers looks absolutely gorgeous.

Feel free to share pictures and feedback.

      As usual,

      Live Long, and Prosper.

        Hi, Lucky Readers,

Wow you guys! What an amazing spike in support in the past couple of days. We are even the tiniest smidgen ahead of the "ideal" pre-order rate suggested by Inkshares.

I have written an entire novel but I feel at a loss to properly express my gratitude to all of you who have purchased a copy of this novel and are helping make it such a success. Most sincerely, thank you all.

If you’re on the fence about ordering a copy for yourself, check out some of the reviews on the project page. So many smart people can’t be wrong, right?

        (pictured: being on the fence)

Keep up the sharing and keep up the support! As added incentive, when we get to 325 copies sold, I will update the excerpts and share some of the new material I am working on for the middle of the novel (hint hint).

        Happy reading!

Tony Valdez liked an update for Deus Hex Machina

          Hi all!

Just a note to let you know that I’m still plugging along on writing the first draft of Deus Hex Machina. In fact I just put up chapter 6 on the [URL redacted by order of the Church of Technology].

Well that was weird.  If you are already a backer of the book you can find the code in the email Isidore sent you. It will enable you to read all the chapters so far.

I’m ramping up to head into the Disneyland prison in chapter 7, which is going to be a blast. Did I tell you I used to work there? Wow, time flies.

Thanks again for your support of the book! I can’t wait for you all to get a chance to read it!

          Love,
          Amanda

            HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY TO AGELESS!

Today, with the help of Alicia Smock, I put an EXCLUSIVE short story "sidequel", called "Selfless" on Examiner.com. They decided to FEATURE it on their Arts & Entertainment page! Go read it.

REMINDER - I am taking over Inshares Twitter TONIGHT at 7pm EST/4pm PST.

            Here’s how it works:

            • Get on Twitter.
            • Ask Me Anything you want using the hashtag #AgelessByPaulInman so I can find the question.
            • I’ll answer as many questions as I can in the hour time frame.
            • We all rejoice, and most likely have ice cream/cake or ice cream cake (if you’re fancy)

REVIEWS ARE IMPORTANT  (We have 16 as of right now)

I am hoping to get more on Amazon’s Ageless pageso we can get more visibility on the site. You’ll need to give a starred and written review, please - short and sweet is fine (5 stars - I loved it.)

Then copy and paste your review onto GoodreadsAgeless page! It only takes a second and it could change my life.

            LAUNCH PARTY SATURDAY!

DragonCon is a yearly event in Atlanta and this year for their 30th anniversary they’ve decided to create their own awards for SciFi and Fantasy called, what else, The Dragon Awards! If you enjoyed Ageless consider nominating me for an award. (Alternate History or Military SciFi would be the categories most like Ageless, yeah it’s hard to categorize).

Thanks for everything! I now must go and celebrate!!

I am hoping to get 50-60 or more on Amazon’s Ageless page so we can get more visibility on the site. You’ll need to give a starred and written review, please - short and sweet is fine (5 stars - I loved it.)

Plus, it’s in Atlanta. That’s pretty much my backyard (not my backyard)!

Finally, I hope you all know that tomorrow is a celebration for all of us. You helped to make this story a reality. Last May, this was just a dream I had. Now here we are and you have that dream in your hand.

              Thank you.

Tony Valdez liked an update for Lucky

                Readers,

Big, BIG news today! We got a funding extension for Lucky, which means we have two more months to reach our goal of 750 copies ordered!

What does it mean if we get 750 copies? This:
                • full editing
                • design
                • printing
                • distribution to booksellers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and numerous independent book stores around the country
                • marketing
                • TV and movie tie in rights
This is what I have been dreaming about and working towards since I was a teenager and first started writing stories. This is the dream that you are helping to bring to life with your support and your purchases. And this is the dream that we got an extension on making a reality.

If you haven’t yet purchased a copy, please consider doing so. If you haven’t shared this novel with your friends and family and coworkers and the deli lady who makes your sandwiches, please do so as soon as you can. To make the goal in time, we need to sell about 8 copies a day between now and the first of July. Let’s make this a reality and put a new book on the bookshelves!

A thousand thousand thanks to you all,

                - Webster

Happy May readers! ...Is that a thing? Wishing people a happy month of May? Ugh, now I just reminded myself it’s the 1st and rent is due. Lame...

Anyway, a few bits of business:

First off, the book status. I am eagerly awaiting some detailed reviews/critiques from my test readers. Thus far, I’ve received a couple quick responses from people still in the process of reading, and the going trend seems to be "I have notes, but I’m loving it so far". So that’s nice. That’s very nice actually. I’m sure I will soon hear all the details regarding the parts of the book that could use some improvement. But in the meantime, feel free to join me as I do my own personal happy dance to the tune of this awesome end credits theme from Iron Man 3. I wonder what the credits music will sound like when Dax becomes a movie... (Hey, I can dream can’t I?)

And now, let me turn your attention for a moment to some other Inkshares projects that need your help!

Beyond the Code, by Kelsey Rae Barthel
This fantasy book has only 12 days left to fund and is just 34 pre-orders away! The story features a group of warriors with extraordinary powers, locked in a war against their corrupt former order and redeeming themselves on a path toward becoming true heroes. Deep-seated conspiracies and fast-paced action. Check it out!

The Amaranth Chronicles: Deviant Rising, by Alexander Barnes
I’m giving you the exact pitch on this one because it’s perfect: "A group of freedom fighters join forces with a cybernetic killer to escape a totalitarian government that wants them dead." This has sci-fi blockbuster written all over it. Just take a look at Alexander’s project page and you’ll see the amount of love put into this sci-fi universe. 52 orders away and only 5 days left!!!

To Live and Die in Avalon, by Jason Chestnut
This book has a bit more time to spare, but I’m sharing it anyway because it’s a personal favorite. It follows a spacefaring secret agent in a 60s-spy-film-meets-Buck-Rogers retro-futuristic setting. It’s a lady James Bond in space! What’s not to love? I believe Jason has been granted an extension from the Inkshares team, so the book currently has 66 days to go with 169 orders to fill. Make it happen!

That’s all for tonight. Until next time!

                  -Tony
