Kelsey Rae Barthel liked an update for Tantalus Depths

A new countdown has begun....

All things considered, I’m not really worried at all. This is about where we were at the 30-day mark before we lost the false pre-orders and got the extension, if I remember correctly. We’re more or less on schedule. That’s still a lot of orders to bring in, so definitely keep spreading the word!

After quite a long hiatus, I’ve resumed the Friday vlogging process! this time I talk in a little more detail about the hardships and obstacles the campaign has faced, and how I’ve worked through them. Hopefully my experience can help some of you as you deal with your own unforeseen setbacks!

    Dear Readers,

So after a few (okay, a lot of) orders disappearing because of issues with credits, we are now (again) officially 20% of the way to full funding.

    .

Between now and the end of the month I will be uploading chapters to celebrate milestones. Today, Chapter 4 went up to celebrate my 151st order, so when the 200th hits my inbox, I’ll upload Chapter 5, which (spoilers) is when the witch hits the road finally.

With that in mind, I want to shout out to the following people for their recent preorders:

Amanda Orneck (author of Deus Ex Machina)
Helena and Malena (authors of Sparked)
Jane-Holly Meissner (author of Fae Child)

And Ben fucking Luntz, who preordered 3 copies like the hero that he is.

You are all the best supporters an unheard-of author could ask for. I’ll be thinking of y’all while I crank out the 10,000 words I told myself I would write today.

    -J.

Kelsey Rae Barthel liked an update for Bad Medicine: Slay it queen!

Quick update just to announce this week’s winner.

The newest queen joining the cast of Bad Medicine is Miss Slayer Stone (AKA fantasy author extraordinaire Jamison Stone)

Slayer Stone is the alter ego of Mr. Mayhem, a wrestling superstar who has done drag on the down-low for almost a decade.

Let’s congratulate our winner and remember that you can have a storyline in the book too. Pre-order now and send me your drag name via e-mail or Twitter.

      Have a great weekend!

Join us for fun and pizza in the Urban Fantasy syndicate!

OK, maybe not pizza, as that would be a bit difficult to manage across 40 geographically dispersed readers, but fun for sure.  I recently started the Urban (and Rural) Fantasy Syndicate to support projects in this genre, and am on the lookout for some additional funsters to join the group.  Thus far it’s Steven Barrie (of Squeaky Clean fame) and me.  We can chat over projects together and have a blast, but would love to have some additional drinking buddies as well.  And at the end of the day, the focus of the syndicate is to back our fellow writers and support them on their publishing quest, which is a noble cause, indeed.  The more members we have, the more backing we can all give.

Kelsey Rae Barthel liked an update for Tantalus Depths

          Lore Update:

While most of the Colonial Hegemony’s more successful colonization efforts have taken place in humanity’s native solar system, such as on Mars, Luna, and Europa, they have also had some significant success colonizing worlds many lightyears away. While these worlds do not appear directly within the pages of Tantalus Depths, they may hold pieces of a puzzle eons in the making...a mystery that lies deep within the depths of Tantalus 13...

Would you like to be immortalized in the Colonial Hegemony’s charters? At the end of Tantalus Depths’ campaign, whoever refers the most people who place pre-orders will have an exoplanet named after them. You can be a part of this cosmic mystery. Don’t miss out.

Kelsey Rae Barthel liked an update for LOUISIANA BLOOD - A Chandler Travis and Duke  Lanoix mystery

            Hi there followers.

I just thought I’d send a quick update to all you fans as I haven’t done one for a while.  At present I’m doing my final edit before handing it off to the folks at INKSHARES.  I’m working with the wonderful Sarah Caughie, alias best selling author Sarah Bryant  you can check out her Amazon page by clicking on her name link.  She’s a great choice for Quill members if you want to sharpen up your work prior to sending it off to Inkshares.

I’m aiming for a publication date of early in the new year as I opted to avoid the Christmas (other festivals are available) bun fight and give my work the chance to miss being swamped by cookery books!  Also, it would appear that Inkshares is going through various changes, some of which have impacted on the speed of publishing process.

Quill members I have been in touch with are finding it difficult to get a publication date from management, and without that information it would not be possible to mount a synchronised marketing plan...something essential for Quill authors in charge of their own campaigns.

A restructured royalty package also came with the possibility of marketing support for Quill  authors.  So until Inkshares has addressed that situation, and become able to give accurate publication dates, I think it best to use the time for editing Louisiana Blood rather than adding to their burden.  When I see things starting to move, and authors I know being given dates I will hand my novel over to Inkshares for final tweaks.

On a good note I see that Louisiana Blood is number one in the mystery charts!   I intend to make the follow up, BRUGES BLOOD as big a success!    Thank you all for your support, and anybody that wishes to snap up a copy cheap, go HERE.
