Rose Jermusyk liked an update for Arch-Android

Happy New Year my friends!

Well, 2017 won’t be accused of being uneventful. I think it’s safe to say that it will go down as a year with many bitter memories for some. I lucked out however and, form me, 2017 turned out to be an awesome year. I owe it all to readers and book lovers exactly like you. My horror novel, A God in the Shed got published sold over 5300 copies and we’re now staring down the barrel of the sequel going into production and all of it is because someone like you took a chance.

So I"m asking the same thing again: will you trust me to bring you another great story?

Arch-Android is still funding on Inkshares. It’s an indirect sequel to The Life Engineered titled Arch-Android. It’s the story of our robot descendants and how they’ve lived without human interference for centuries, but now, as signs of humanity making a comeback start to appear, they have to decide how best to prepare sharing the galaxy with us once again. If you haven’t yet, check out the sample chapter and please, consider pre-ordering a copy (or more!). There are some familiar names and places in Arch-Android and if you enjoyed The Life Engineered, you’ll love this book too.

Again, thank you so much for your continued support. Great things are coming in 2018 and I’m looking forward to sharing that journey with you.

    Rose Jermusyk liked an update for How to Remember

    Hi, everyone! We are so close to 100 copies sold! Please share the link with everyone you know :-) And if you are a member of a syndicate that hasn’t already picked the book, let them know I’m looking for more readers. Actually, I’ve been thinking of starting one myself - what do you all think of a Librarian Syndicate?

    I’ve got some art news - in addition to the new cover, which will be soooo much better than my lame efforts with Canva, I’ve commissioned two portraits of Miranda and Ben. Everyone who supports me at the Super Reader level will receive a print.

    We may have to extend the campaign - I’m not sure if we’re going to make it to 250 by February 9 - but I’m committed to doing so. My ultimate goal is to bring you a book you will love, and I know we can make it happen together.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I’m off to a weekend of laundry, quiet time with the kids, and writing my new book... I need to have something for you to read next!

      I got some numbers for you.

      Do you know what this means?!?! I FINISHED EDITING MY NOVEL!!! It was quite a slog for me. I’m not one of those writers that can easily overlook the minutiae in order to focus on the bigger picture. My editor gave me some great notes calling for some big sweeping changes and clarifications, but even still, if I saw something on the page that bothered me (and gosh was there a LOT that bothered me), I had to change it. Staring at pages like these was how I spent what little free time I had for the past four months:

      Look at all those revisions!!! Just to be clear, this is not the end of the editing process. It’s back with the Editor / Head of Story at Inkshares, Matt Harry, who’ll look over the changes and make further suggestions. (Hopefully I cleared the higher hurdles the first time around the track and the next lap is easier.) From there, somebody’s gotta clean up my terrible, awful, hideous, redundant word choice… Cover design conversations with the artist… Where is this all going, you ask?! Well, it means it will still be a wait. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a 2018 release, but I can’t say for sure.

      In the meantime, I literally don’t know what to do with myself any more. If I’m not working on something, I’m getting ANTSY. While I wait for the Inkshares wheel to turn another notch in Animal in Man’s production track, I’ll be putting more words down for my next novel “The White Shadow”, which you can read the first few chapters of HERE. (I added a chapter to my website since the previous time posting about it, and I’m eleven chapters beyond that point in the writing.) I might even be putting up an Inkshares draft page for the book soon. Who knows.

      To all of my supporters, all of you who’ve hung in there this long and longer: Thank you.

        Did you know that the original title for this project was Friends Don’t Let Friends Date The Undead?

        At first, I wanted it to be a tongue-in-cheek post-apocalyptic dating manual for avoiding dating vampires accidentally-on-purpose. Then, I thought it could be a paranormal re-telling of How I Met Your Mother with the focus being less-Ted and more-ensemble (#BarneyAndRobin4Eva #MarshallAndLilyEqualRelationshipGoals #FrenchHornsArentTheOnlyThingTedWantsToBeBlue).

        When I first outlined the book, it immediately became much darker/grungier and followed the storyline of SnowWhite very closely. Not that I minded, everything I write is in some way a fairy tale. Look closely and you can find all the elements of fairy tale writing in the current chapters.

        Then, one day, I was telling my friends stories about my family (like you do) and bragging about how we’ve been known to have whole conversations just quoting Bill Murray. I also bragged about how for her first Ghostbusters’ Day being able to sit upright on her own, my niece got to watch the movie for the first time and my sister posted a video of her cheering at the end. (I’m not crying, you’re crying!)

        That’s when these first few chapters clicked into place. The challenge of a character no one can really interact with further restricted by first Ghostbuster quotes, and gradually Bill Murray quotes in general. Vampires who are well-aware of the ethical quagmire they get themselves into every time they open their goddamn mouths. Queer teen werewolves who will not be denied their right to flirt!

        We were back in the fun of Friends Don’t Let Friends Date The Undead! Until, that is, I wrote the scene of Beth drinking a bottle of prosecco by herself and crying herself to sleep in her dead sister’s bed, her sister who she herself had to "put down" at the very start of the book.

        While the humor of inter-phase flirting would continue to play a part in alleviating the overall mood of the book, it was no longer the focus. Now it’s on these sisters, both looking for answers as to why one of them had to die.

        So, the title of the book changed to one reflecting the possibility of murder most foul. The cover — I’ll admit — looks a bit like a Harlequin mystery/romance. These two things are going to changing again ... later this year.

        This book, these sisters, deserve a better title to their story, and a cover that isn’t more than a little misleading. But I won’t be working on this right away. I’ve made a schedule for myself:

        1. 100 days (10 drafting, 90 campaigning) for a guided journal I’ve created and am no editing (and which I use to put a huge dent in healing my hoarding compulsion which, surprise, is a thing), writing a memoir on the side;
        2. 100 days of drafting and then campaigning a memoir (because I’m a self-centered artist, obviously), writing a guidebook on the side;
        3. 100 days for a guidebook which will pick up where the guided journal leaves off, writing a paranormal teen sisters drama on the side; and,
        4. 100 days for The Sally Forth Intrigue under whatever the hell the new title ends up being.

        This "schedule" is clearly just the amount of time allotted for each project and the order I’ll be working on them. But you’re following this book and I wanted to let you know that’s its time is literally coming.

        At the start of each project, I’ll send you an updated work-slate until it’s time for us to hang out here again, getting this book funded and published (or self-published if necessary).

        For now, you can find me:

        • working on 31 Days of Narratemes, a guided journal for questing the crap out of your daily lie;
        • live-streaming my Morning Writing every day from 9:00am-11:30am on YouTube;
        • sharing about the project, the accountability practice, and some bonus materials in 100 Morning Writings, Part 1 and 100 Morning Writings, Part 2 on Facebook (who apparently doesn’t allow for the creation of events with more than 52 individual dates, go figure).

        Pick your poison, m’dears, it’s more than Janie got in the end.

          Rose Jermusyk liked an update for Sync City

          Greetings Jackolytes,

          Season’s Greetings from Jack and all the reprobates at Sync City. It’s been a blast throwing Sync City out into the wild this year as well as receiving many positive responses. You’ve all been a fantastic help in getting this story to where it is today!! You’ve also gone a long way to allowing the follow up (working title: Sync City Jack) to take shape, and there’s the distinct (albeit distant) thunder of twin exhausts on the horizon!

          If you’ve enjoyed Sync City over the last year, it’d be great if you could head over to Amazon and/or Goodreads and drop in a review. It doesn’t  have to be an epic, and everything more than counts.

          You can find Sync City here on Amazon and here on Goodreads.

          Amazon is also an excellent place to purchase Sync City (for yourself or a loved one) if you haven’t already taken the plunge. Jack makes the perfect companion for this festive season :-)

          If you have any questions regarding Sync or the follow up, I’m happy to have a chat.

          Meanwhile Jack’s going to stick his feet up, grab a brew and welcome in the upcoming year.

          Cheers,

          Peter

            Hullo! Did you have a happy holiday season, keeping warm and sharing all the stories with all the loved ones?

            I know I did ... until that final plane ride home gifted me a nasty bug that took me out of commission until ... well ... yesterday really. I expected time with my family to completely hijack my writing and posting schedule, but I’d hoped my body would just hold on til that indeterminate time when I would have given it the go-ahead to shut down.

            Wishful. Thinking.

            Anyhoo, I’m back and I have a plan and a schedule to get this book made, which means it’s officially update time:

            1. I have given myself 100 days to finish this guided journal. That’s 10 days in draft mode and 90 days in campaign mode regardless of how many readers I manage to gather in my little corner of the interwebs.
            2. These 100 days of editing the final draft, sharing it with you, and getting a jump on other things (both related and not) will be done primarily during my Morning Writing which I had decided to stop hiding and instead get even more public with. First, if you’d like to partake in live-stream accountability practice, you can do so here: bit.ly/RoseJermusyk ... Second, I have made this practice into a 2-part Facebook event which you can join in: bit.ly/MorningWriting1 ... and ... bit.ly/MorningWriting2 ... it’s set up as two events because Facebooks won’t currently let you build an event with more than 52 individual dates. Go figure.
            3. If at the end of these 100 days the guided journal has not reached its funding needs, I will self-publish the thing because it’s important to me to get it out there. Apparently, my telling you this negates the all-or-nothing urgency which so many rely on to reach their funding. So here’s the less-than-fun truth: if this project doesn’t reach its funding goal and I self-publish, I will be doing so at a higher price point. Not much higher, but higher.
            4. I will be posting every other day alternating between posting a lesson as a book segment, and posting the related worksheet(s) as part of the reader update. By my calculations, I will have given you the entire journal for free well before the 100 days are up. Assuming that my posting schedule is not further interrupted.

            So, as you may recall, I posted the first lesson 00: Initial Situation, now I am attempting to post an image of the related worksheet which may or may not print, but should be visible enough for you to "rip off" in your own notebooks/journals:

            Here’s to a new year of better self-care so that the things that get done are the ones that matter most.

            Good journey, my friends,
            Rose
