Thank you so much for having faith in the Pilot X sequel. I am BEYOND thrilled to get this going. Now I will begin the long process of asking for your patience as we get the book ship shape for publishing.

It’s been a long time coming, friends, but these little ladies have arrived. By now those of you who ordered physical copies should have received shipping notifications. When your books arrive, I’d love it if you posted a photo of them. I can’t wait to see how far the mech crew has spread.  

This is a book that was driven entirely by you, the readers. Without the interest in this book, it wouldn’t exist. It would still be a jumble of graphic novel pages, barely a whisper of what it would become. 

So today I celebrate you. Thank you for this gift of a book. 

May the Code replicate eternal.

Thanks to your overwhelming support we passed the 3/4 mark and are barreling towards the 750 preorders we need to get Trigor published. THANK YOU!

With two weeks to go I feel pretty good about it but I think we’d all feel better if it was just, you know, 100% already. ;)

So to motivate folks I’m going to offer to give a link to a PDF of ANOTHER book I have coming out this summer called Gallium. If you ever read my book, Lot Beta, you’ll recognise the universe. It’s not a sequel but it’s set in the same world. MThis time it’s a woman in a salvage operation trying to make a go of it and having forces set against her when she discovers ancient history that powerful people don’t want discovered.

Anyway if we get Trigor funded I’ll send out a link to the PDF of Gallium to all backers.

I’m starting a revolution. ANOTHER revolution, to be exact. Around the sun. And it begins today. Because today… is my birthday! Yes, that’s right! And I’d like you to know it’s totally OK if you forgot to get me something. Because it’s NOT TOO LATE! 

For my birthday, it would be really great if all those who’ve followed The Animal in Man could make a pre-order. What you’ll get is a SIGNED COPY on September 25th. Just a friendly reminder that it’s very important that you check and confirm your shipping address prior to books being shipped out. You all should have received an email from Inkshares in the last day or so prompting you to confirm your address. You can follow the instructions there, or follow the ones below. Either way it’s very important to do so, as I know several of you have moved, because if the address isn’t right in the system (if you’ve moved for example) YOU WON’T GET YOUR BOOK!

And I don’t want that. You don’t want that. No one does.

 

Thanks to your continued support, Proteus has finally hit the halfway point in its publication campaign! We are now officially over the hump: from now on, we are closer to the end of this journey than we are to the beginning.

There is a LOT of work left to be done, though. It’s taken a full year to get this far (though that includes several long breaks while I worked on editing Tantalus Depths) and now we have only a little over a month to get the rest of the way there. That’s a lot of ground to cover, but I know we can do it, if we all work together. I know I say this every update, but I cannot stress this enough: telling your friends and family about Proteus is so, so important. If everyone who has already bought a copy found one other person and convinced them to order one too, this journey would be done overnight.

Remember, sharing social media posts is extremely helpful, but telling your friends and family about the book in person is even more impactful. Talk to your brother, co-worker, spouse, anyone you know who might be interested. You’ll be amazed how many people are interested in supporting the arts. I know I have been.

Even if the only thing you can offer is emotional support, I will certainly take that too. I’m not the kind of guy who takes to this crowdfunding thing easily, and it is the most emotionally draining thing I’ve ever done. I’m committed to getting this thing done no matter what, so I’m willing to take that toll, but words of encouragement are always welcome.

Alright, enough of the sales pitch. We’ve hit the halfway point on our journey, just like the crew of the Somnambule at the beginning of Proteus.  At the end of our journey is a publication deal for Proteus, but at the end of the Somnambule’s journey is something much more precious. I think it’s time we found out what’s so important that the Expansionary Coalition thought it was worth the massive undertaking of shipping 50,000 souls halfway across the galaxy, don’t you?
