Although I’ve become a poor blogger with no sense of schedule over the last year or two, I still have a blog which counts several hundred page-views even when I don’t post, every month.  Much more when I do.  Starting this coming monday (very much in honor of Draftshares which has so recently ended) I would like to invite Inkshares authors the chance to display themselves and their projects on my blog.  Basically it would be an author profile and an introduction to their stories, with one or two images of their choosing.

Obviously, I don’t promise any specific results.  It’s only a chance to spread the word of your project on another tiny piece of this infinite little internet of ours.  If you are interested in taking part, message me here or post on this forum thread.  I can’t say that everyone will be able to do this, since I’ll only be posting one profile per week, but I’ll do my best to spread the love!

If there is enough interest, I might even turn it into two posts a week; one for drafts, and one for projects already in the pre-order phase.

Hi, I’m Molly and I’m new to Inkshares! I’m currently in school to be an elementary school teacher.  In one of my classes last semester we wrote children’s books, which is the only book I have ever written. However, my friends & family all loved my book and are urging me to get it published, so I thought I would try this out.

Please check out my page and my book "Embarking on a New Journey". I have not uploaded the entire story, but would be willing to after I receive some feedback! Thank you so much!!

I agree that the order seems odd... and a sales or follower ranking would make more sense to me. The order does change slightly over time but I can’t seem to find any  logic to it.

I would love to see this wave of providing feedback on drafts continue past the event.  I was fortunate enough to receive some really useful feedback both on my draft and directly.  As a new author, it has been INVALUABLE.  I’m actually using it to revise the 2 chapters I have up, and for the rest of my novel as I write it. 

If you have any reservations about leaving feedback on drafts, DON’T.  If you’re concerned about publicly posting something critical, just send it in a kindly worded private message.  If you have something good to say, post it.  You will make someone’s day. 

For my fellow Drafters, remember, if you’re concerned about critical comments you receive on a draft, you can always note them, apply them, and post the draft again with any changes to remove them.  But critical feedback, no matter how much it hurts, is only going to help you. 

I really want to encourage everyone to take advantage of the draft phase, and make it a habit to leave comments on drafts.  Don’t underestimate your power to have a positive impact (even with criticism).  Inkshares provides a unique opportunity for all of us to help each other grow as writers.  We should all take advantage of it as much as possible.  Plus, I’d rather get ripped apart here first, rather than on Amazon or in media reviews if the book ever comes out.
