Robert Batten liked an update for The Phantom Forest

Greetings, Readers! Today’s note is specifically for InkShares members, especially those who belong to a syndicate.  Having Phantom Forest be a syndicate pick for the month of December would be an AMAZINGLY helpful way to put us over the top for the Quill publishing goal. I’m afraid that a January nomination might not help me, as my funding ends on January 16th - so I’m making a pre-holiday push!

So if you’re enjoying what you see so far, head on over to your syndicate’s page and post a nomination for Phantom Forest! And if you’re not a syndicate member yet, it’s a really wonderful way to passively support books once a month and also meet fabulous new authors.

    Thanks again everyone!

    Liz

Robert Batten liked an update for Shadow King

Good morning from a snowy Boston!

There are JUST 11 DAYS LEFT in the 2016 Launchpad Competition. We’ve made some good progress and as of this morning, "Shadow King" is in 4th place on the leaderboard (about 30 readers behind the #3 spot).

I’ll continue to make my best efforts to reach the top three in the coming days, but my success really rests with all of you. I can’t make this goal alone.

As always, I wish all of my current readers could truly understand how appreciative I am for your support. You are all rock stars. If you’re still interested in helping move "Shadow King" higher in the rankings, get just one person that you know to pre-order a copy of "Shadow King" -- your brother, sister, best friend, college buddy, co-worker, Starbuck’s barista, hairdresser, anyone! Those readers alone would make a tremendous difference! (the link to order is: https://www.inkshares.com/books/shadow-king )

To all of the intrepid souls who are following my Launchpad adventures, please pre-order before the December 16 deadline. Your order could make ALL THE DIFFERENCE at the end of the competition.

I know many people in the Inkshares community have always dreamed of getting published -- some of you have realized that dream, others are still working towards it -- so I know it is a familiar story when I say publishing this book is a dearly-held dream of mine. I also know that many of you have more than one author asking for your support and that no one has a bottomless wallet -- but I hope that "Shadow King" will be one of the stories that catches your attention and earns your support. (BTW, the Launchpad judges praised it for  having a unique and original concept that they hadn’t really seen before!)

And don’t forget -- every new reader who pre-orders a copy between Dec. 1 and the Dec. 16 deadline will be put in a drawing to win a $25 Amazon gift card!

Which brings me to my final note before I sign off: Congratulations to DOUG WOODARD who was the winner of the November drawing. After contacting Doug, he was kind enough to tell me that he wanted to decline his win and donate the gift card back to the cause -- so thanks to Doug’s generosity, there will be two $25 Amazon gift cards raffled off a the end of the Launchpad effort.

Until next time -- have a wonderful week!

      All the best,

      Susan

Since kicking off my crowdfunding campaign for Where the Sun Sets I’ve learned that I have no idea what I’m doing. I’ve also learned that I’m not alone. In fact, there are countless other clueless authors who are just like me!

So I’m putting together a video series -a free online resource-  called Coming Clean on Crowdfunding to help us all be a little less clueless, and a little more likely to succeed in making our dreams a reality.

Coming Clean on Crowdfunding is a series of short video interviews (3-5 min. long), where each video showcases a single author who has chosen to crowdfund their literary darling into existence.

For our first interview we’ll be hearing from the lovely Janna Grace, author of The Talkers are Talking.  Tune in to hear Janna tell us about her experience participating in an Inkshares contest, what she did wrong with her campaign, what she did right, and more.

Throughout the series we’ll be hearing from authors at all different stages in their campaign, from everywhere around the world. Should be very cool!

I’ll be posting them on YouTube HERE.

The first episode will be available later this evening/first thing in the morning. I’ll update the thread so you know when to take a peek.

If you like what you see and want to see more episodes from different authors, please subscribe! Post your comments or questions to the channel or to this thread, and please highlight the types of questions you’d like to see answered. If you have an experience you’d like to share in an episode, please reach out to me & we’ll set up a time to chat!

I hope you find these interviews as fun and insightful as I do!

        Donna

Looks nice and functions well. But one thing I’d still rather see (in the discovery areas) is books laid out in rows and columns instead of just rows. The current holiday sale page, for instance, is one long row, and I think it’d be easier to scroll through all the books for sale if they were arranged more as a grid that flows down the page. This is especially the case on smaller screens. I know that’s trickier on the main discovery page, since there’s categories to consider, but just something that’s stood out to me for a while.

              Hi Everyone,

As you may have noticed we just deployed a pretty significant change to the homepage for logged in users.  Our aim is to provide a cleaner, more cohesive experience which serves as the foundation for some great new features we’re rolling out in the coming weeks.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or tweaks you’d like to see.

Robert Batten liked an update for Sorcery for Beginners

                Friends, Readers, and Sorcerers All,

Only 30 days left to pre-order Sorcery for Beginners! As you may know, the book was recently selected by Inkshares as one of the top 14 unpublished books on their site (out of thousands)!

We’re definitely getting published, and you will get your copy, BUT -- We want the full publishing and marketing package. We want SORCERY FOR BEGINNERS to be in bookstores everywhere. We want it be at book festivals and comic-cons and magic shops. We want it to be reviewed in websites and newspapers. The top 3 pre-sellers on THIS LIST will receive all these things:

                https://www.inkshares.com/contests/the-list-2016

As you can see above (if you crane your neck sideways, not sure why it’s showing up that way, this is why I need full graphic design help), right now we’re at Number 4. To hit number 3, we need 30 more UNIQUE READERS. That’s it. 30 new people buying the book in 30 days. $10 each. I know there’s a lot going on right now, and people are worried, and it’s the holiday season, but I’m betting at least 30 people out there would like to read about a group of magic-using teenagers taking down a greedy millionaire.

Again, if you or someone you know purchases a pre-order before January 1, you will get:

                - A signed copy

                - Your name in the back of the book

                - A handmade bookmark that figures prominently in the novel

                - My undying gratitude!

Thank you again for all your support, and I can’t wait for you to see the finished novel!

                mh
