Hi everyone,

My campaign is almost a 1/3 of the way through, and it’s not looking good. There is no way I will ever give up, but I am stuck at only 10 pre-orders. Maybe I made a mistake by choosing the hardcover option, but I don’t think so. When I first envisioned my book, that is what I saw. It’s what I still see. I’m confident the book I’ve written is something people will want to read. I’ll admit it’s not for everyone, but neither is any other book that’s ever been written.

I know we are all here for the same thing. We have all written something we feel is worthy of publication. Most of us have the rejection letters from agents or publishers, and each one stings, but we don’t give up. We know our stories are stories people need to read. They allow readers to escape the monotony of everyday life. There are stories of pirates. There are stories of those that stop time. There are stories which give us a glimpse into the minds of those we all fear. There are stories that break break down societal barriers with strong female leads. This list goes on an on, and all of our stories have one thing in common. They were all written by people who refuse to give up.We won’t take no for an answer. If we get knocked down, we get right back up and keep fighting. I know I do.

I won’t give up. I can’t.

The Cradle and the Sword has a new book trailer!

Yes — I, too was somewhat flummoxed by the idea of creating a video trailer for a book. I mean, what was I supposed to put on display? I wondered. Book quotes? Images of Mesopotamian art? Come on. Let’s be honest — who’s really going to be entertained by a photo montage? I wanted to give you something of value. A video you can actually enjoy.

And since — as the old saying goes — "anything worth doing is worth doing on an epic blockbuster scale," I decided to fulfil my fantasy of a Cradle and the Sword  HBO series.

This is, after all, the "ancient Mesopotamian Game of Thrones."

    Watch it here! https://youtu.be/kEAmDKVVCnA

Thank you, all of you, from the depths of my heart, for helping support this project. New excerpts, updates, and cool ancient Mesopotamian content are coming your way soon.

Eric H. Heisner liked an update for Leaf Falling

Well, in my excitement to share the news that Leaf Falling is in 13th place, I hit that 1 an extra time...

The book is just 3 slots out of the top ten, not more than a hundred. It’s very, very close. You can make the difference oh, so easily.

Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for the support!

Eric H. Heisner liked an update for APEX

        Dearest Readers,

We’ve managed to pull into third place! It’s a precariously small lead of only 5 pre-orders, so our work is far from done, but thank you all from the bottom of my heart for helping me achieve this success. I must check the scores five times a day (possibly more) to see how I’m doing in the rankings. As we’ve risen in sales, so have my competitors. I know they’re just as anxious to rank in the top three as I am, so I’m not surprised.

After my graduation ceremony at Stanford, where I read an excerpt of my novel (very fun), I went to a workshop on getting published and how to market one’s work. I’ve taken that input to heart and will be trying a few things over the next week to see if I can gain some distance on my 4th and 5th place competitors. If I find any strategies that work, I’ll be sure and share them with you all.

Individual notes of gratitude are coming shortly. I just wanted to let you all know that we’re getting there! Only two weeks left to keep pushing for a third place finish and a guaranteed publication of APEX!

        Cheers, Debbie

          O Wise Readers,

Here we are: two weeks out from the end of the contest. Your support has made Leaf Falling 113th place out of almost 400 entries. You are wonderful and amazing and appreciated more than you can know.

The leaders have a fairly impressive lead, but I think we can give them a run for their money. There’s nothing like a last-minute comeback, is there? Crowdfunding efforts often see their best performance near the end of the drive.

I’d love to end this thing in the top 10, and maybe even that elusive top 5. We’re only 16 readers away from the list: if each of you can get even one person to order (and make sure you’ve ordered yourself), we’d shoot right to number 5. (Often, suggesting to friends by name makes the most impact).

I’ve posted a new chapter for your reading enjoyment. Let’s light up the boards and help you and your friends get your hands on this novel!

Thank you so much. You all, collectively and individually, rock.
