The Review-a-Thon is now!
Today is the day to hop on over to Inkshares, do a little reading, and write a review!
Why?
Take your pick: Prizes! Fun! Good Karma! Great reads! Discovery! Brain exercise! Procrastination!
When?
Now thru 5pm EST today
Where?
How?
Visit a funding book’s project page. Scroll a bit to find the author’s writing sample. At the bottom of the writing sample click on “Read More” (in the same box, on the left). Read more of the sample and once you feel ready, click on “Leave a Review” at the very bottom of the page.
What?
Reviews! Nice ones. Ones that will help other readers know why they should give the book a shot.
So...about those prizes…
There are several prizes at stake for everyone that participates, plus several author-exclusive prizes on top of that. Everything from books, credits, gift cards, scrivener (for Inkshares authors), and artwork, even a pizza party!
What else?
If you’re on twitter, share the day’s events using the hashtag #InksharesReviews

It's HAPPENING! The Review-a-thon started at midnight and goes until 5 PM today. I thought long and hard about it, and decided that I wanted to add a little oomph to the pot today. With that in mind I have three contests going.
Deus Hex Machina Preorder Contests!
1. The Pizza Party: When we hit 50 preorders I will be raffling off a $20.00 certificate to your local pizza place.
2. ANY preorders made today will be entered for a chance to win a cameo in Deus Hex Machina! If you want to increase your order to a higher tier to get in on this, feel free. If you so choose you can also opt for a cameo in Shadow of the Panther by preordering that book. I will run those contests separately.
3. At 60 preorders I will give away another signed copy of Shadow of the Owl.
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to review DHM. I know it's been slow on the updates, so here's an pie in the sky goal for today: If we get to 70 preorders, I will drop everything, finish both Chapters 1 & 2 and get those posted on Inkshares!
Here's a handy graphic to remember the rewards up for grabs today:

Need some ideas on what to review today? I've got ya covered. Check out these amazing books currently funding on Inkshares:
1. Blood Dawn, by John Robin
2. Seven Shards: The Color of Wine by C. Brennecke
3. Dax Harrison, by Tony Valdez
4. Women Like Us by Jason Pomerance
5. She is the End by A. C. Weston
6. The Inhabitants: An Unremembered Life by Michael Sebby
7. Ghosts of War by Paul Robinson
8. Feyside by Peter Birdsall
9. A God in the Shed by J.F. Dubeau
10. Shadow of the Panther by Amanda Orneck (just in case you didn't know about my other book *wink*)
Now fly my pretties, and review!
Good evening Machiners!
I hope you are all strong in body and mind. Here is wishing you a fantastic holiday season and New Years!
I don't want to take up too much time this evening. For many of us, tomorrow is a big day (more on that in just a moment). But here are a couple of quick hits...
First, if you haven't seen the new video trailer for The Last Machine yet, the handiwork of fellow Inkshares author Yicheng Liu, go check it out! It's like an early New Years gift.
Second my apologies for being a little slow on the 50th reader raffle. I blame my wonderful readers for the wave of support, which is humbling. We blew right by 50 readers and then past 60. So thank you very very much! Therefore, without further ado, I'd like to announce Paul Robinson as the winner of the raffle for the super early edition of Rudyard Kipling's Mine Own People. Go check out Paul's science fiction book Ghosts of War, a planet hopping tale of revenge and retribution!
The new plan is to have special raffle giveaways at 75 and 100 readers! I know we can do this. You all continue to prove it to me each day. Updates to come on just what those raffles will entail...
OK, and now for the section of this update dedicated to tomorrow's epic Review-a-Thon - Inkshares' first annual! Full details below.
But first, and importantly, for anybody who pre-orders tomorrow, Saturday 12/19, whether you are pre-ordering for the first time or have before, you will receive a signed copy of the book cover art. It will be signed by myself and the magnificent artist who created it, Jack Katz, author of The First Kingdom.
Looking forward to an awesome day!
------------------------
On December 19th, all authors and readers are invited to leave reviews on currently funding Inkshares books using the Inkshares “leave a review” option.
Throughout the day we’ll be hanging out on Twitter in the #InksharesReviews tag as we share our favorite book projects, answer author Q&As, debate the merits of astronauts with swords versus cavemen with lasers, and much, much more!
From 6 - 8pm ET, JF Dubeau and Paul ‘such a nerd’ Inman will be hosting a Google+ Hangout lifestream filled with author interviews, review readings, and live announcements of prize winners!
Prizes?!?!
Everyone who leaves a review on December 19th by 6pm ET will be eligible to win one of our fantastic general prizes:
Readers: Peruse the “currently funding” books on Inkshares and leave as many reviews as you want. You could even start up a “must-have” list of books to order in case you win a free pre-order or the $30 in credits!
Authors: Join our review exchange to leave three reviews in exchange for two guaranteed reviews on your Inkshares project and a chance at author-exclusive prizes!
