Ting.Schweizer : I currently only have two bottles of Laphroaig but one is a 10 year Cask Strength I brought back from Islay a year and a half ago. Push comes to shove, if we run out of that we can switch to the equally brilliant Ardbeg. Or something else. I try to keep a good variety of scotches around.

My dear mortals or otherwise!

We are four days from the funding campaign for A God in the Shed being over. As I write this there are only 14 copies left of the 750 needed to fund. This is good news for me as the writer, obviously, and for those who have pre-ordered as they will get their signed and numbered copies with all the other perks.

The bad news is for those who haven’t ordered.

Judging from my experience with The Life Engineered, only the 750 who pre-order will get their copies signed and numbered. I might still try to sneak in a bookmark or signed print into other copies but that’s not a guarantee. Also, only readers who pre-order during the funding campaign have a chance to win the ’privilege’ of dying in the book. In effigy of course. I’m not actually murdering readers and magically infusing their essence into my books. Don’t believe the rumours.

This means that even with 4 days left to the campaign this might be your very last chance to pre-order A God in the Shed and benefit from all the perks. If you’ve been waiting for the last minute to get your signed and numbered copy with a bookmark and a chance to have a character modelled after you die in the story then this is IT. This is the last minute (Figuratively. You still have a few hours, maybe a day or two.). I hate to be the guy to say that ’supplies are running out!’ but each day I’m shocked at how quickly copies are getting ordered. There’s a very real possibility that this is the last day of this campaign.

So yeah... I thought you might want to know that. Also; tell your friends. Just in case I’m wrong.

Thanks again for the amazing support friends. Because of you I get to go through the process of editing another one of my book. Slowly, my dream of being a writer is becoming reality.

Great Dubeau! As I’m coming to join your celebration you better get the second and third bottle of the Laphroaig ready! Good luck!

Including today, we have six days left to fund this project.

Fortunately, we only have 55 more copies to pre-order and we’re in the clear. You guys have been fantastic in the past two weeks. The response to my call for support has been tremendous and I feel like we can do this.

The next few days are going to be very important. In six days, I celebrate the end of this campaign, whether it is a success or a failure. I’ve already pulled out the bottles of celebratory whisky. The results of the campaign will decide if I’ll be drinking from the first bottle, or the second.

If you haven’t already, help make sure I drink from the second bottle. It’s got a smokey, peaty flavour I really enjoy and also isn’t made from distilled sadness and concentrated failure.

Here’s a reminded of the incentives to help convince the last few of you who haven’t pre-ordered or that you can use to convince others:

  • Each pre-order enters you into the ‘I want to kill a reader’ raffle. The winner will have his name and likeness used in the book as a minor character that gets killed off. The author will work with the winner to find the appropriate means of demise to satisfy both the winner and the story.
  • Each physical copy of A God in the Shed will be signed and numbered as an exclusive first edition item.
  • Free, exclusive A God in the Shed bookmarks will be included with the physical copies and mailed to eBook supporters.
  • Orders of three or more copies guarantees your name to appear in the Patrons list printed at the end of the book.
  • You get to enjoy the satisfaction and pride at having supported both art and literature.
You guys are so awesome, it’s kind of scary.

I won’t take much of your time. Just felt like celebrating with the people most responsible for this (after the staff from Inkshares) :

Let’s keep on trucking guys and gals and creatures from beyond the veil. Today, just today, I feel like there’s nothing that can stop us.

 Hello dear supporters!

I wish I had a more clever name for you guys. Something from the book. I could use ’Watchers’ as I’m using with levels of support but I’m planning on changing that name in the manuscript. It’s too obvious and on the nose, but I’m getting off topic before I even get started.

Good news! We’re above 600 pre-orders! In fact, as of this writing we are at 616. We have less than 140 pre-orders to get which feels almost attainable. The bad news is we have less than ten days to do so.

Good news redux! A lot of my writing buddies here on Inkshares have banded together to help me out and they’re doing an amazing job of it. Christopher Huang, Andre Brun and John Robin have been spearheading herculean efforts to help me get to the 750 pre-order goal and it’s been incredible. Please click on their name and check out their books. Each is doing something different and beautiful.

Now, I know a lot of you are still on the fence about pre-ordering or are just hanging out because of whatever reason and I totally respect that, but let me try to get you to support A God in the Shed by reminding you of the incentives. This is what you get if you pre-order this book:

  1. Each pre-order enters you into the ‘I want to kill a reader’ raffle. The winner will have his name and likeness used in the book as a minor character that gets killed off. The author will work with the winner to find the appropriate means of demise to satisfy both the winner and the story.
  2. Each physical copy of A God in the Shed will be signed and numbered as an exclusive first edition item.
  3. Free, exclusive A God in the Shed bookmarks will be included with the physical copies and mailed to eBook supporters.
  4. Orders of three or more copies guarantees your name to appear in the Patrons list printed at the end of the book.
  5. You get to enjoy the satisfaction and pride at having supported both art and literature.
Finally, I want to point out that this book is a bit of a proof of concept. I don’t know that many authors have been able to double-dip in the Inkshares pool yet. I want to show that a writer can fund more than one work of literature on the site. That this can be a viable platform for repeat use. This is important because it can demonstrate that Inkshares is a marketplace for books in development. I want readers to shop on Inkshares and encourage books, not just writers.

So pre-order your copy or get someone you know to pre-order a copy. Aside from the (cool) gimmicks above, you’re helping literature break free of the bonds of traditional publishing in a way that self-publishing still hasn’t achieved.

Thank you,
JF

Greetings friends!

Just a quick note to inform you that A God in the Shed has been chosen as the monthly pick for C. Brennecke’s Snarky Darky - The Snarky Dark Fantasy Syndicate on Inkshares.

Considering we’re getting terrifyingly close to the end of this campaign (see what I did there?) it’s both an honor and a great help to have my book picked like this.

C. Brennecke is the author of Seven Shards: The Colors of Wine, a fantasy book currently in production as part of the Quill collection on Inkshares. I recommend you go check it out. This is what the magnificently talented Jamison Stone (author of Rune of the Apprentice) had to say about it:

Seven Shards is both captivating and enchanting! Brennecke writes with flowing prose with mythic proportions. I am very excited to read the full book and encourage all to watch the video! You will not be disappointed! Very well done and worth a pre-order!

Thanks for your support Snarky Darky Syndicate! You’re awesome!
