Chloe:
A loud crash woke Chloe up from a broken sleep. Her latest nightmare involved being caught waist high in some kind of transparent quicksand. Rubbing her bloodshot eyes, she could hear a car alarm somewhere down the road. The loud rumbling trundle of a passing freight train shook the glass of water as she reached for it, her throat hoarse and dry. The tequila her friends had fed her did not help the throbbing headache she was currently nursing. At least the room had stopping spinning, she thought to herself.
Sitting herself up so she was kneeling on her thick duvet, Chloe leaned over and flicked up a slat at her bedroom window blinds. Nothing seemed out of order and although she could still hear a car alarm going off, she couldn’t make out any tell tale yellow blinking lights from any cars in view. Chloe shrugged and got back into bed after debating for all of 3 seconds whether or not she could be bothered to refill her glass. Closing her eyes, she willed herself to go back to sleep.
Suddenly, Chloe was bolt upright in her bed, her heart racing. Outside her house, someone was screaming.
